Cameron McAdoo update: 'I still have a couple months until the doctors will release me'
Cameron McAdoo will not return to action until at least the end of the 2025 Pro Motocross season, according to an update by the rider on social media. 'Wanted to jump on and give everyone an update on my progress with the knee,' McAdoo posted on Instagram. 'Things have been going well and moving forward as planned with the recovery, I still have a couple months until the doctors will release me to be back on the motorcycle.' If McAdoo and the doctors are accurate in their timing, that would coincide with the week between Rounds 9 at Ironman and 10 at Unadilla. After starting only three rounds of the Monster Energy Supercross season, and finishing last in two of those (earning zero points), McAdoo is 48th in the combined SuperMotocross League standings with a gap of 38 points to 30th, which is the cutline to receiving an invitation to the playoffs without an overall win. 'This one has been a bit longer recovery due to it being my second time having this ACL worked on,' McAdoo continued. 'I am missing being on the bike and getting to go race on the weekends more than anything right now but as I know in due time I will get that opportunity. In the meantime, I've spent a lot of time pedaling bikes, at [Range Sports Therapy], lots of [physical therapy], and checking off some honey-do projects haha.' It is possible that McAdoo would choose to skip the last two rounds even if his knee is healthy enough for Unadilla or Budds Creek. His last attempt in the Pro Motocross series was in 2022 when he finished 18th in the standings with 83 points. Jett Lawrence scores 450 overall win in Hangtown Motocross Classic with Moto 2 victory
Jett Lawrence settled into a comfortable position to protect his fitness in Moto 1 in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, before finishing third, but he had no reason to conserve energy in Moto 2. While Jett surged into the lead on Lap 1 and rode away from the field, the difference in the overall lead came at the gate. Eli Tomac got a poor start and was bumped on the frontstretch. He entered Turn 1 last. 'The main obstacle [in Moto 1] was the heat,' Jett told Peacock's Haley Shanley. 'I did what I wanted to do [in Moto 2] and got a start, and they cut [the race] shorter. I just wanted to sprint those first few laps, get a gap, and kind of manage it. It's pretty hard to sprint the whole moto.' Jett has lost only one overall finish in his 450 Pro Motocross career. Tomac was the first rider to beat Jett head-to-head in a moto, but after crashing midway through Moto 2 while racing for eighth, he ultimately finished ninth in the race and failed to score an overall podium. Aaron Plessinger finished second overall after dominating the laps led in Moto 1 and riding under the checkers second in that race. Plessinger was third in Moto 2. 'Days like today, as sweet as this is right here, being out there that last lap, you don't want to do it,' Plessinger said. 'It takes a lot of heart. I was hurting, but I knew I needed to make that pass on Hunter [Lawrence], and I'm super-proud of myself. These last two rounds, I pushed and surprised myself.' Plessinger's solid run in Round 2 elevated him to second in the championship standings, but Jett has already created a 16-point gap with two rounds in the books. Tomac is one point further back in third. Justin Cooper finished second in Moto 2, matching his career-best Motocross moto finish, and he was scored third overall. This is Cooper's first overall podium. 'First of all, two good starts today and the team did a great job of adapting to the track,' Cooper said. Tomac's 1-9 relegated him to fourth overall by two points. 'I probably would have had a good chance at making the run toward the front if it wasn't for the crash, but once that happened, that was all she wrote.' Hunter Lawrence rounded out the top five with results of fifth in Moto 1 and fourth in Moto 2. Jorge Prado scored his first Motocross top-five race finish in Moto 2, but a modest result of 12th in the first race dropped him to ninth overall. Five minutes were taken off the clock in response to the heat. Moto 2 Results Overall Results Dan Beaver, In-Race Notes Jett got a great start, as catastrophe struck Eli Tomac. He emerged 26th from Turn 1 after getting bumped coming out of the gate. Cooper settled into second, with Cooper Webb third. Tomac made up a lot of ground early and rode 11th on Lap 3, but the five minutes taken off the clock proved to be a huge factor. Tomac needed to finish second for the overall win if Jett won the moto. Tomac moved into the top 10 on Lap 4. He's 17.7 seconds behind second-place Cooper. Jett was comfortable in the lead. He had a six-second lead over Cooper on Lap 5. Also on Lap 5, Plessinger moved around Lawrence. He would finish in second overall if the race were to end this way. Pressing hard, Tomac tucked the wheel on Lap 6 and fell to 12th while racing for the fifth position. Tomac continued to move forward, but shifted into points' protection mode with that accident. Meanwhile, up front, Jorge Prado circled in fifth on Lap 6. Tomac made his way back into the top 10 on Lap 10, passing Joey Savatgy and Coty Schock to ride ninth. Jett Lawrence wins Thunder Valley Moto 1 after intense pressure from Aaron Plessinger
LAKEWOOD, Colorado: Jett Lawrence was pressured by his brother Hunter Lawrence and Aaron Plessinger, before claiming the win of Moto 1 at Thunder Valley Motocross Park. 'First, I knew it was AP [Aaron Plessinger] there, and then I looked back and it was Hunter, and then I made the mistakes and I see AP right there and I was confused,' Jett said from the top of the podium. 'My lines weren't the best in that one. Once AP got around he showed me a couple of good lines and I picked up on them and was able to get him on that lap.' In the post-race news conference, Jett quipped that he thought he was going color blind for a moment with the rapidly changing complexion of his competition. While the box score recorded another moto win for the Australian phenom, the competition gap closed significantly in this race with Plessinger able to pass him on track in the second half of the race. 'I don't think I'm frustrated at all,' Plessinger answered Peacock's Jason Thomas. 'All I can ask for is to be up here with those guys. These guys are going so fast, and man, I just battled with a dude that went 22 and 0 in 2023. To think I've come this far to battle with that dude and a multi-time champion, it's crazy. I just have to smooth some things out and I will be able to beat him.' Plessinger settled for second, but after leading laps in Hangtown in Moto 1 and becoming one of the rare riders to pass Jett in race conditions in Thunder Valley, he is moving up the grid. Tomac had a difficult time getting out of the fourth-place position. He attempted to pass Hunter early in the moto and failed. This took him out of his flow, and Tomac seemed to be destined for fourth until Hunter crashed on the final lap and handed him the position. Hunter had a big enough gap to fifth-place Justin Cooper that he held onto fourth in the first race and kept his hope for the overall win alive. Moto 1 Results In-Race Notes Hunter and Jett get their accustomed strong start with Plessinger and Tomac in tow. Jett was only fourth-fastest in qualification, which is the worst of his career. By the end of Lap 1, Jett settled into the lead but Plessinger continued to pressure. The top four settled in with Plessinger staying within two seconds of Jett. Tomac had difficulty getting around Hunter as the top two pulled away away. RJ Hampshire passed Justin Cooper for fifth-place spot on Lap 2. Tomac finally got alongside Hunter on Lap 5, but couldn't close the deal. This battle was four seconds behind the leader. Hunter wanted to get out of the contest with Tomac, so he passed Plessinger on Lap 6 for second. On Lap 8, Hunter closed the gap on Jett to under one second. After a couple of laps to give his brother confidence, Jett stretched the lead to 2.3 seconds on Lap 10. Plessinger and Tomac were riding their own pace. Cooper and Hampshire battled for fifth, 17 seconds behind the leader. The race action heated up on Lap 11 with Plessinger repassing Hunter and pressuring Jett. Mark Lap 13 on your scorecard. Plessinger passed Jett for the lead. That does not happen often. Jett didn't let that go on for long. He's back up front half a lap later. Jett won by 3.3 seconds over Plessinger.
