Georgia Gets Bad News on Highly Coveted Star Playmaker
The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to land the top tight end of the 2026 recruiting class. But it won't come without some very strong competition.
Five-star tight end Mark Bowman visited Ole Miss over this past weekend. On3's Steve Wiltfong reported the visit went very well.

'The OV was a blast,' said Bowman.
'I would say the biggest takeaway was the family like feel. It didn't really feel like I was on a recruiting trip it was more just having a good time with the coaches.'
Ole Miss' involvement in Bowman's recruitment isn't completely out of left field. After all, the tight end had a scheduled official visit with the Rebels.
But it sounds as though the Rebels could be gaining on Georgia.

Bowman's visit to Oxford, Mississippi, came days after Wiltfong and On3's Chad Simmons wrote that the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans present a challenge to the Bulldogs for the five-star tight end as well.

'I like the Bulldogs for Bowman, but Texas and USC are ones to keep an eye on for the reclassified tight end," Wiltfong wrote. "UGA remains in the mix for multiple top targets at the position this cycle.'
Simmons argued that Texas is the biggest challenger to Georgia with Bowman.
'Texas was his childhood favorite school and the visit he had to Austin this spring pushed the Longhorns to the top of his list," Simmons wrote. "He visited Georgia again after that visit and the Bulldogs have the momentum going into the official visits."
In addition to holding the No. 1 tight end ranking, Bowman is the No. 4 California recruit and No. 16 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The 2027 blue-chipper out of Oak Mountain (Ala.) High has the attention of Clemson and programs across the SEC, including South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and LSU. Advertisement In Atlanta, Aparicio-Bailey was sound rotating and flipping his hips, sticky in coverage and aggressive making plays on the football. Our first live eval of Aparicio-Bailey was through the roof -- as a defensive back capable of playing cornerback, safety or nickel. CENSERE GAYLORD - Los Angeles Gaylord stood out in Los Angeles among another star-studded field. We were impressed by the four-star's ability to mirror receivers in coverage and then turn and run in coverage. Gaylord was one of several 2027 defensive backs to turn heads over the course of the Rivals Camp Series. He has plus length on his frame and speed to stick in coverage. There is still plenty of room for him to fill out his frame. Advertisement USC, SMU, Auburn and Texas all offered this offseason. DAVONTRAE KIRKLAND - Dallas Kirkland is a hybrid defensive back with the skill-set to work in and at cornerback and safety with length, quickness and also downfield speed to stick in coverage. We saw all of that and more in Dallas. Kirkland, who also shines as a receiver for Waco (Texas) University High, has a fantastic make-up to be a safety on Saturdays. The four-star prospect committed to Baylor on Saturday. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH BAYLOR FANS AT NASCAR MCCOY - Atlanta McCoy was sharp in coverage in Atlanta and was in contention for MVP honors. The 2026 four-star safety from Buford (Ga.) High School is instinctual and sound in coverage on the back end and his experience playing cornerback at the high school level is a key element to his game. McCoy came away with several interceptions in Atlanta. Miami, Auburn and Michigan are all after the four-star safety. JERRY OUTHOUSE, JR. - Dallas Outhouse Jr. took home MVP honors in Dallas out of a loaded field of talented defensive backs. Outhouse was sticky in coverage, able to turn and run with an array of different pass-catchers. We loved the four-star defensive back's ability to quickly close on passes with intensity. Outhouse's physicality on the back end -- able to play off and cover inside and out at a consistent clip -- in addition to getting his hands on several balls along the way. We project the 2027 four-star as a safety at the next level. SMU, Notre Dame and Tennessee are among the early teams in play here.

Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero
Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero The Los Angeles Rams have waived former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Derion Kendrick after three seasons. Kendrick was a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 draft. Kendrick developed into a productive player for the Rams. He started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with Los Angeles. However, he tore his ACL during the first week of training camp in 2024, which forced him out for the entire 2024 season. Now, Kendrick is looking to comeback from his ACL injury, but he'll have to find another NFL team first. Kendrick posted 14 pass deflections, 92 tackles and one interception during his first two years in the NFL. He has the ability to start at outside cornerback and should find a new team relatively soon as long as he's healthy. Kendrick played the first three seasons of his college career at Clemson before transferring to Georgia for the 2021 season. The talented cornerback intercepted four passes including two in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Michigan in his lone season at Georgia, which ended in a national championship victory over Alabama. Waiving Kendrick saves the Rams $3.4 million in cap space. Kendrick was participating in OTAs with the Rams before his release. He injured his ACL in late July 2024, so he's had almost a year to recover. The Rams are down to just three former Georgia Bulldogs now. Los Angeles has quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett along with offensive lineman Warren McClendon on their roster.

UFC Atlanta results: Rose Namajunas fends off submission scare, overwhelms Miranda Maverick
Rose Namajunas is still in the hunt at 125 pounds. The former two-time UFC strawweight champion barreled back into the win column on Saturday in the co-main event of UFC Atlanta, earning a hard-fought unanimous decision over Miranda Maverick in a battle of former training partners at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. In doing so, Namajunas (14-7) successfully rebounded from her loss to Erin Blanchfield in November and moved to 3-1 over her past four bouts in the flyweight division. Advertisement The judges saw the bout 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, all in Namajunas' favor. "I was a little more surprised with how [many] more chances she took than in practice," Namajunas, 32, said post-fight. "She was more tentative in practice, but she fought like a dog, so I really respect that." Maverick (15-6) entered the bout on a four-fight win streak and hoped to use Namajunas' cache as a former champion as a springboard into title contention in a deep UFC flyweight division. But "Thug Rose" had other plans, taking the early lead with an array of well-timed kicks from distance, bolstered by her usual smart movement and efficient shot selection inside the pocket. Advertisement After a methodical first round, the action picked up in a second as Namajunas secured a quick takedown then gradually worked to Maverick's back and snuck in a rear-naked choke. In a wild sequence, Maverick, 27, bided her time then exploded up and escaped, reversing position straight into an arm-triangle choke attempt. Namajunas gamely fended off the unexpected danger, however, the hard-charging Canadian used the round's final seconds to turn the tide with a flurry of big punches from Namajunas' back. Namajunas, however, was undeterred. The former champion immediately retook control in the opening stages of the third round, planting Maverick onto the floor with a piston-fast counter left hand then swarming with big ground-and-pound punches. And that was ultimately all Namajunas needed, as she slickly reversed any of Maverick's escape attempts and rode out the round in control from top position. Maverick appeared to have an injured left leg following the conclusion of the bout. Advertisement "My game plan was to throw lots of combinations and to get her on her back heels, and get her to not think that I was just going to strike with her," Namajunas said, adding that a shot at the UFC flyweight title remains her immediate goal. Widely considered one of the greatest strawweights of all time, Namajunas owns two victories over current UFC strawweight champion — and Uncrowned's No. 1 pound-for-pound women's fighter — Weili Zhang, as well as two prior victories over UFC Hall of Famer Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Since losing her flyweight debut in late 2023 against Manon Fiorot, "Thug Rose" has found a footing in the division with wins over Amanda Ribas, Tracy Cortez and now Maverick.
