Vuelta's Playtime to Merge Film Constellation and Global Screen to Form Global Constellation
Vuelta Group's international sales division, Playtime, has completed the full acquisition of sales house Film Constellation from Fabien Westerhoff, and integrated its operations with Global Screen, the German-based international sales outfit under Playtime. Together, these entities will form Global Constellation.
Global Constellation will be part of the Playtime Group, which includes sales companies Playtime, Film Boutique, and Be for Films.

Westerhoff takes an executive role as managing director of the theatrical film division bringing together the strengths of both companies with a strategic market focus on animation, family entertainment, and genre cinema.
Ulrike Schroder will be managing director of the TV division, heading the hub for international TV distribution within Vuelta.
Global Constellation will collaborate closely with Vuelta Germany, Vuelta's German film distribution arm, born from the merger of Squareone and Telepool. This positions Global Constellation as the 'go-to partner for German and international filmmakers seeking pan-European collaborations and international reach,' said Vuelta. The first joint projects will be unveiled at next month's Cannes Film Market.
Global Constellation's film slate includes: 'Olmo' by Fernando Eimbcke and 'Welcome Home Baby' by Andreas Prochaska, which premiered in the Panorama section at the 2025 Berlinale; animated features 'The Last Dinosaur' by Ben Smith, 'The Last Whale Singer' by Reza Memari, 'The Growcodile' by Joost Van den Bosch and Erik Verkerk, and 'Carmen' by Sebastien Laudenbach; historical epic 'The Captive' by Alejandro Amenábar; and survival horror thriller 'Fear Is the Rider' by John Michael McDonagh; 'Call Me Queen,' the first foray into English-language by German-French director Emily Atef; and 'Paradise' by Academy Award nominated Jeremy Comte.
On the TV side, Global Constellation has a strong current lineup comprising among others: True crime miniseries 'Murder on the Inca Trail,' produced by Westside Filmproduktion/Constantin Television, directed by Nina Wolfrum; and the second season of hit TV show 'Recipes for Love and Murder,' a light crime series, directed by Jozua Malherbe and Karen Jeynes and produced by Thierry Cassuto in partnership with AMC Networks' Acorn TV, Multichoice and Both Worlds Pictures.
New projects will be unveiled at the upcoming Cannes Film Market and before NATPE for TV.

Merging the expertise of the Film Constellation team with the footprint of German anchored Global Screen made a lot of sense.'

Roblox has kids yearning for the farm with 'Grow a Garden.' I can see what it's addicting.
The hottest trend this spring for young people is … gardening. Growing carrots and strawberries, pruning weeds. I'm sorry to inform parents anxious about screentime: This doesn't mean your kids are digging in the dirt outside in the fresh air. They're probably on Roblox, playing "Grow a Garden," which, as I typed this Thursday, had more than 2.2 million people playing — four times as many as the next most popular game. (A Roblox spokesman told me the game had around 9 million concurrent players at one point over a weekend in late May — a Roblox record.) I tried the game myself, and I can see how — if you're willing to spend real money on seeds and other garden accoutrement — you can get ahead. Bloomberg reported there's already a robust secondary market for some of the things you can buy to help grow your garden. Items like seed and livestock have popped up on Discord, some niche sites, and even on eBay, to the tune of millions of dollars of turnover a week, the report said. (Selling items on third-party sites is against Roblox's rules, but it still happens.) How did 'Grow a Garden' sprout? "Grow a Garden's" origin story is much like many games on Roblox: A random user — in this case, reportedly a 16-year-old — created the game. The teen has remained anonymous, and I couldn't reach him. Roblox's user base is 40% under the age of 13, CEO David Baszucki has said recently. Users can create their own games — and by using " Robux," the platform's own virtual currency that players can buy with real money, players and game-builders can make money. (It's roughly one real cent per Robux, though they can be had cheaper with package deals and other promotions.) According to an interview in a gaming newsletter with well-regarded Roblox developer Janzen "Jandel" Madsen, "Grow a Garden" was initially created by the teen who built it in a few days. Then Madsen acquired part of the game to build it out with a team of developers. It got even bigger when Do Big Studios, a Florida-based company, also partnered in the game. The exact workout of who owns what isn't clear. Madsen and Do Big Studios didn't respond to my requests for comment. I played 'Grow a Garden' In "Grow a Garden," which is free to play, you start by planting some simple seeds (carrot, strawberry), which quickly grow into plants that you can sell. With that money, which comes in the form of the game's virtual currency, the Sheckle, you earn more to buy even more seeds, eggs, animals, and so on. Curious, I tried it. You start with just enough Sheckles to buy a few carrot seeds, which you can plant in your garden. Compared to my real-world failures in vegetable gardening, the carrots grew satisfyingly quickly, which I then harvested and took to sell at a farm stand, using my Sheckles to buy more seeds for strawberries and more carrots. I strolled around the world beyond my own garden to look at the gardens of other players, who were milling about, buying seeds and selling crops. Some players had really elaborate setups, which must've taken days or weeks of play to build up. After not too long, I had about 400 Sheckles. The leaderboard showed I was playing with someone who had 968 million Sheckles. I walked over to see her garden, which was full of lush plants and blocky animals walking around. Her profile showed she had created the account in early May — quite a feat (or a lot of real-world money). It's possible to "steal" another player's crops — but for that and other things, you have to use real Robux. In general, the gameplay is similar to other games — over time, you do a thing to trade in points for more things, which takes time and patience. And if you're willing to spend real money, you can get ahead much faster (this is not unlike the real world). So what makes 'Grow a Garden' so compelling? Justin Watkins, who runs the popular Roblox gaming YouTube channel ThinkNoodles, told me the game's creators obviously knew what they were doing. "The developers have really optimized everything about the game to maximize its spread in the Roblox algorithm, and also have a deep understanding of what players value in Roblox," he said. "There's been many games that use different hooks for players, but this game has incorporated almost all of them into a single game," including live events that he said are considered "must-attend" to get "rich" in the virtual world of "Grow a Garden" and "flex on others with cool mutations" in your virtual patch. How did 'Grow a Garden' get so big? "Grow A Garden" is undeniably popular. Roblox spokesman Eric Porterfield said it was one of the games that most quickly racked up 1 billion visits in Roblox's history. Still, some adults in video game forums on Reddit, X, and YouTube have criticized the game as being for "dopamine-addled children," saying it doesn't take a lot of brain power to play. (To be fair, there were plenty of adults who also said they found the game soothing and fun.) Others said that Do Big Studios' involvement led to a bigger focus on monetizing the game — in-app purchases to get ahead and the like — which they said had put a damper on the game's community. (Again, I couldn't get Do Big to respond to my questions, so I don't know what they have to say about this criticism.) "Grow A Garden" is still new, having launched in March 2025 — and the kind of momentum and popularity it has doesn't suggest it will fizzle out anytime soon. After playing a few minutes a day for a few days — without spending any of my own money on Robux or Sheckles — I had grown my garden to more than 180,000 Sheckles with tulips, watermelons, tomatoes, and a rare bamboo plant.

Banijay Scripted Business Chief Says Lower Budgets Have Made Streamers 'More Stable'
Banijay Entertainment's co-head of scripted has given his assessment of the current scripted market, suggesting that the budgeting challenges of the post-peak TV could give rise to better television. In an on-stage interview with Deadline at Seriencamp, he added that the upside to streamers lowering their spend is that their budgets are now more 'stable' and simpler to plan around. 'As long as we know the rules, it's easier to work in this environment. 'It wasn't purely a great time during peak TV, because everything could be done, and one or two things weren't that great. In the long-term we need to produce great things, because that's the only way audiences will come back to us. We're not just competing against each others, we're competing against games and social media, so we have to be on the top of our game.' Tax breaks versus levies Banijay claims it is now the largest independent producer of scripted in Europe, giving Jensen and Matthews a birds-eye view on dozens of production companies working in multiple territories. It is a market wrestling with how to finance programs and ensure the streamers who pushed prices up dramatically during the peak TV era continue to invest. Jensen said while tax breaks are vital to the new European TV world, he wasn't completely supportive of streaming levies. He noted that while France had landed 'a lot of productions' from its system, Denmark had seen streamers cut back on spend after introduction a mandatory spend system. 'It can go both ways,' he said. 'I'm not that much for putting a tariff on things, but I believe people locally want to watch local things, so if you enter a market, you probably want to do local shows. The streamers pulling out and not spending will probably see they lose some subscribers locally.' Tax incentives on the other hand, can change the shape of a market, but need to be introduced in a methodical way. 'Locally, we'll probably need to have rules between broadcasters and streamers,' said Jensen. 'Tax breaks need to be reliable and understandable. It's benefitting the local territory when you do that, and there are numerous examples of it.' Jensen also used his appearance in Cologne to spell out how Banijay treated investments in scripted, playing down the idea that super-indies push their subsidiaries in certain directions. 'Creativity is the most important part,' he said. 'Banijay is a group that has been acquiring companies and making a lot of talent deals over the years, but what we don't do is go in and put producers in a box. We want the entrepreneurial person running that scripted company to do their thing. We wouldn't go for the talent if we didn't want what they do.' Jensen took on his new role in January, when he and Steve Matthews – who is Head of Scripted, Creative – were upped from their roles as CEO of Banijay Nordics and Content Partnerships Executive, respectively. He described their roles as like a 'door opener to the international market to local producers.' Jensen and Matthews can work with indies to access Banijay's scripted fund to help finesse scripts, strike talent deals or land IP, while they try to add more formalized systems into place. Jensen paid tribute to former HBO Europe exec Matthews for his 'reputation as a great, great creative' who could provide an outsider's view on local productions. Jensen was talking a day after Banijay Entertainment CEO Marco Bassetti sowed some market confusion around Banijay's interest in ITV Studios. While it's been reported several times that Banijay – one of the most active consolidators in the market – has spoken with ITV, Bassetti told a SXSW London audience, 'We're not buying ITV Studios' before going on to talk about the need for scale in the globalized entertainment market. Jensen didn't address the M&A situation, but talked about how scale had been important for Banijay, which claims to be the largest independent scripted producer in Europe through companies such as Kudos, Banijay Studios in several territories, Grøenlandia, Jarowskij/Yellow Bird, Rabbit Track Pictures and The Forge. 'I hope that people think we are a place where they can collaborate,' he said. 'When you look at the current market situation, my feeling for some time now has been you have to be big, like us and some of our competitors, or small, where you're not dependent on constantly selling shows and you control everything yourself. They're two different paths to the same thing.' Jensen also addressed how producers can work with Banijay companies on co-productions – with the current state of the market, strategic partnerships and clever financing models have been the talk of the week here in Germany. He admitted Banijay would prefer to keep co-productions within its ranks if possible, but pointed to cop drama Weiss & Morales – which is made by Banijay Espana's Portocabo, Nadcon and ZDF Studios for RTVE in Spain and ZDF in Germany – as an example of a production with third parties. 'We are really open to it,' he said. 'We want to have the best IP and be a great place to go to. If your idea resonates in the Nordics or Spain, we can facilitate that and we'd love to have more collaborations.' Jensen noted Banijay has seen 'much less money' coming from the States into European productions in recent years and said this is playing into the way shows are being built. 'We don't known about the Trump tariffs – we will keep an eye on them – but we do know there was less money from the U.S. even before those talks, and that there is momentum for us here. We need to build Europe stronger in general, and in the media industry as well. That is about collaborating between borders, but also internally. You don't need to own everything forever, so you can find ways of financing and working together.' Further back in his career, Jensen was among the original producers of unscripted format Survivor in Sweden. Asked what scripted producers could take from unscripted, he said: 'When you are pitching a show, you person you're pitching to is not the one who makes the decisions. That is knowledge the unscripted guys have known for a long time. There is a business knowledge in unscripted that we could learn in scripted. He also suggested there could be more IP developed in 'parallel' with the unscripted world, pointing to how unscripted shows such as The Traitors had been influenced by murder mystery dramas and suggesting this could work in reverse.
