1. DREW ALLAR WILL BE FIRST QB DRAFTED

Yahoo Sports' Nate Tice released his top 25 Big Board for the 2026 NFL Draft and he did not have Penn State quarterback Drew Allar included. Four quarterbacks made the list in Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier and Clemson's Cade Klubnik.
No Arch Manning. But also no Allar and that seems like a missed opportunity. Allar was a four-star prospect for Rivals but should have been higher because he had such a great arm coming out of high school and has become one of the best college quarterbacks even without a huge supporting cast.
Remember, in Penn State's 23-20 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal, no Nittany Lions receiver had a catch. Allar, who did throw a bad interception to give the Irish the win, was not working with Ohio State's receiving corps. Maybe not even Ohio's.
But he's made it work. Allar completed more than 66 percent of his passes last season for more than 3,300 yards and 24 touchdowns. He led Penn State to the Final Four of College Football. His receiving corps mainly through the portal will be much better this year and Penn State could be the No. 1 team in preseason polls.

Allar is trending up and that should only continue through the pre-draft process.

2. CLEMSON WILL WIN THE NATTY
USA TODAY
Over the last decade, the only teams to win multiple national championships are Alabama, Georgia and Clemson. The Tigers haven't won one since 2018 and some argue that the program has taken a step back.
Let's see if that talk sustains after 2025.
Former five-stars Cade Klubnik and defensive tackle Peter Woods look like first-round locks for the NFL Draft. TJ Parker, who was a fringe five-star prospect, could end up going in the first as well, especially if he continues to play so well.

The Tigers have an elite quarterback, super talented receivers, a solid offensive line and then the front seven might be the best in the country. Clemson is just absolutely loaded on the defensive line and at linebacker.
Some key transfer additions on defense including Purdue's Will Heldt and Alabama's Jeremiah Alexander, another former five-star who hasn't lived up to expectations yet, could have dominant seasons as well.
Another national championship is within striking distance and the Tigers should be the favorite. If that happens, Clemson would be the only team with three in the last decade. Clemson falling off? The Tigers never left.

3. CANTWELL IS HEADED TO THE DAWGS
On Thursday, there was a coordinated effort by former Miami stars including Bryant McKinnie to contact five-star Jackson Cantwell on social media and tell him about playing for the Hurricanes. Cantwell, in pure Midwest form, responded to each gracefully and thanked them for hitting him up.

The Nixa, Mo., standout will make his announcement on Tuesday. Cantwell, ranked atop the 2026 Rivals250, is also coming off an excellent visit back to Oregon as the Ducks try to get some recruiting momentum after missing out on five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, four-star receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and others.
But in the closing days, despite the best efforts of others, I still have Cantwell headed to Georgia.
From early in his recruitment, Cantwell and his coach have talked about them choosing the right place for his NFL development. He sees what Georgia has done, what the Bulldogs produce every year in the NFL Draft and the high expectations placed on players to win at the highest level in Athens.
That doesn't scare him off. It draws him in. And those are just some of the reasons why Georgia lands the No. 1 player.

Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski leads the pack of best Big Ten returning quarterbacks
Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski leads the pack of best Big Ten returning quarterbacks As the summer months continue to slowly creep by as the 2025 college football season kickoff looms, there is a growing sense of expectations and excitement surrounding the Iowa Hawkeyes and the noise they could potentially make this fall. The reason for the anticipation rests on the shoulders of their new quarterback, South Dakota State Jackrabbits transfer Mark Gronowski. Expected to be one of the most impactful transfers in the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes and their faithful are hoping that he can continue the dominance that he showed at the FCS level while winning two national championships. Mark Gronowski's arm talent and running ability are undeniable, and that combination of skill sets has him ranked as the top returning quarterback in the Big Ten entering 2025, per Pro Football Focus. While at South Dakota State, Mark Gronowski threw for 10,330 yards and 93 touchdowns while adding 1,767 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns on the ground to prove that defenses have to game plan for him in a multitude of ways. Other Big Ten quarterbacks returning in 2025 that could lead their teams to a successful year, or even a College Football Playoff run, include Penn State's Drew Allar, UCLA's new QB Nico Iamaleava, Indiana's new QB Fernando Mendoza, and Luke Altmyer, the signal caller of the Illinois Fighting Illini. CBS Sports decides what Clemson football must do to be successful in 2025
CBS Sports decides what Clemson football must do to be successful in 2025 The start of the 2025 college football season is 79 days away -- and 86 days until the Clemson Tigers host LSU in Death Valley at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30. As we count down the days until then, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is holding his annual summer camp, offensive line coach Matt Luke is busy lighting things up on the recruiting trail with the 2026 signing class, and the Tigers have landed their first official commitment for 2027. All great news, but what about the 2025 season? Clemson has a stacked roster that is looking to build off a 10-win campaign that included an ACC championship and a trip to the College Football Playoff. The biggest concern the Tigers have is not at quarterback; not after Cade Klubnik's meteoric rise in 2024 (3,639 passing yards, 36 TDs, six INTs). It's not at wide receiver, either. The Tigers have bonafide studs in senior Antonio Williams, plus young sensations Bryant Wesco and T.J. Moore at the position. The defense is anchored up front by linemen T.J. Parker and Peter Woods, and Avieon Terrell shores things up in the secondary. The consensus is that the Tigers' biggest question mark heading into the 2025 season is at running back, where they'll have to replace senior Phil Mafah. On Thursday, CBS Sports' Brad Crawford wrote about one area every team in his post-spring top 25 must address to be successful in 2025. For Clemson, it's finding comfort in the run game. Crawford said: "Find comfort in run game: Tabbed by a few to be college football's top team this fall, Clemson is loaded on both sides with perhaps its best roster since Dabo Swinney's last national championship team. That said, the Tigers are inexperienced in the backfield with freshman Gideon Davidson, third-year sophomore Jay Haynes and redshirt freshman David Eziomume expected to share the load at running back after Phil Mafah's departure. This will be a pass-happy team with Cade Klubnik, but offensive coordinator Garrett Riley needs to be able to breathe easy in short-yardage situations, too." Mafah rushed 216 times for 1,115 yards (5.2 AVG) and eight touchdowns a season ago. It's the second straight year that Clemson will have to replace its starting tailback from the previous season after Mafah took over for the versatile Will Shipley after 2023. Clemson and LSU will meet in prime time at 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 30. The game will be televised on ABC.
