PLANS to ban alcohol sponsorship at sporting events have been axed — sparing fans ticket price hikes, The Sun can reveal.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting has ruled out barring booze firms, it is understood, to the relief of football, rugby and tennis chiefs.

Dropping the 'nanny state' ban will also boost grassroots sport, as cash trickles down from the elite levels.
One senior Tory said: 'Sponsorship helps keep football tickets affordable and grassroots sports alive.
'You don't drive harmful drinking down by banning adverts, you just hit fans in the pocket.'
However, partial restrictions on alcohol ads will form part of a ten-year NHS plan out next week, it is believed.
They may be outlawed before the 9pm watershed in line with junk food and drink as ministers try to tackle growing health problems.
Junk food ads are to be banned between 5.30pm and 9pm from October.

Maresca said: 'His season has been very good but I think you need time to adapt. 'In terms of position, I see Andrey in this moment in more like Enzo's position than Romeo's (Lavia) position. 'The Premier League demands (players) to be physically strong. In this moment, I see Andrey more of an attacking player than defensive in the field.' Maresca added that he hopes 19-year-old defender Josh Acheampong will stay with the club despite being linked with Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund. He said: 'My idea or my plan with Josh is quite clear. I think he potentially can be a top defender for this club. I feel the best plan for Josh is to be with us.' Maresca would also like England international Trevoh Chalobah to stay, but offered no guarantees. He said: 'All the players that are here with us, I don't want to lose them but when the transfer window is open, unfortunately, anything can happen – not only for Trevoh, for (all) the 25 players of the squad.' Maresca expects a tight contest against Benfica. He said: 'It's going to be a balanced game, a tough game. In this kind of game the small details are very important.'

Hampshire Post Office victim 'still at war' as she gets OBE
A victim of the Post Office computer scandal has said she will continue to fight for compensation for colleagues, as she received an OBE at Buckingham Hamilton, 68, was falsely prosecuted in 2006 for a £36,000 shortfall at her branch in South Warnborough, accepted a financial settlement in 2024, but said it was "wicked" that 138 former sub-postmasters were still battling for Department for Business and Trade (DBT) said it had paid more than £1bn so far.
