Barcelona star confirms ‘I want to retire here'

Yahoo15-03-2025

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week revealed his hope of seeing out the remainder of his playing days on the books of the Blaugrana.
The player in question? Marc Casadó.
Youngster Casadó is for his part of course in the midst of a breakout campaign to date in 2024/25.
After taking full advantage of an early-season injury crisis in Hansi Flick's midfield ranks, the 21-year-old wasted little time in establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya's capital.
Casadó has long been shining on both sides of the ball, with his defensive profile having not prevented the Spanish international from racking up a goal and six assists to this point in the term.
And though he has over recent weeks been displaced by the far more experienced Frenkie de Jong, Casadó, evidently, has not had his spirits dampened.
Speaking to the media this weekend, in quotes relaid by Fabrizio Romano, the engine room talent went as far as to state:
'I want to complete my entire career at Barcelona and retire here. That's my dream… it's the club I love.'

Flick to take a check on Ibrahim Diarra during pre-season

Ibrahim Diarra looks set to be handed a chance to impress in pre-season under Hansi Flick at Barcelona. The Malian teenager arrived in the winter from Academie Africa Foot and ended the season with a brilliant performance as Barcelona won the UEFA Youth League final. Advertisement Diarra is now being tipped to join the first-team at the very start of pre-season as Flick runs the rule over his charges after the summer break. The teenager will then have to chance to try and make Flick's pre-season tour squad for their trip to Asia. Youngsters Juan Hernández, Dro Fernández and Toni Hernandez are also expected to be on the plane for the tour and could be joined by Diarra. The Malian youngster is an exciting talent - who has already been likened to Lamine Yamal and Rivaldo - and is definitely one to watch as he continues to develop at Barcelona. More from

Barcelona secure future: Yamal, 17, pens six-year deal worth €15m/season

Barcelona have officially announced a new long-term contract for Lamine Yamal, tying the 17-year-old winger to the club until June 2031. The teenager signed the deal on Tuesday at the club's offices, with president Joan Laporta, vice-president Rafa Yuste and sporting director Deco present. Advertisement Yamal's extension follows a breakout campaign that saw him help Barcelona secure a domestic treble in Hansi Flick's first season in charge. He made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists as the Catalan giants won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. Having made his first-team debut at just 15, Yamal has already played 106 matches for Barcelona, becoming the youngest player in club history to reach 100 appearances. He is also the youngest ever goalscorer in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Super Cup, and has been involved in several crucial victories, including four Clasico wins this season. Advertisement Yamal's influence stretches beyond club level. He was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2024 in Berlin and has already earned 19 senior international caps. Barcelona described the renewal as a 'demonstration of the solidity' of their project, stating that Yamal's emergence 'is already part of club history.' The club's decision to secure the forward on a long-term basis also underscores their confidence in his role as a central figure in their future plans. Yamal joined La Masia at the age of seven and has developed into one of the most exciting young talents in world football. Reports suggest the new deal will make Yamal the third-highest earner at Barcelona, with an annual salary of €15 million, behind only Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong. Advertisement Once he turns 18 in July, his salary will reportedly increase from a previously agreed €5 million to the new figure, with bonuses potentially pushing his earnings close to €20 million per year. Barcelona have also recently renewed contracts for manager Flick and forward Raphinha, as they look to solidify the foundations of a new era at the Camp Nou. With Yamal now secured, attention is expected to turn to the futures of fringe players such as Ansu Fati and Pau Victor.

How to watch PSG vs Atletico Madrid: Live stream 2025 Club World Cup game online for FREE

Champions League winners usually get the entire summer to flex on their glory, but FIFA has had other plans. Still digesting their European triumph, PSG stake their newfound status on Atletico Madrid, who finished third in La Liga but received an invitation to the FIFA Club World Cup at the expense of champions Barcelona. Atleti's season may have ended a week earlier than PSG's, but the vastly contrasting makeup of the squads could play in Luis Enrique's favor. Key cogs Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Bradley Barcola and, of course, PSG's UCL final hero Desire Doue are all 25 or younger — significantly so in several cases — and, therefore, more physically and mentally geared to get up and go again. Diego Simone's blueprint, meanwhile, has always skewed towards grizzled heads. Julian Alvarez and Conor Gallagher are 25, while Giuliano Simeone is the only Atleti regular below that age. Considering PSG smashed five past a vastly experienced Inter side in the Champions League showpiece, that might be a worry. Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Griezmann, however, plundered 69 goals between them last season. Here's how to watch PSG vs Atletico Madrid live streams from anywhere in the world — for FREE.
