A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his wife in a Welsh village. Michael Davies, 56, was arrested at a house where the body of Tracey Davies, 48, was discovered by police on Friday, April 18.
Police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of two people in a cottage at Bryn Terrace in the 1,500-population village of Cefn Cribwr, near Bridgend. Michael Davies was later arrested and charged with murder.

Davies spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address when he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Jason Howells said police were still analysing CCTV and video evidence as well as bodyworn footage from police officers.
He added that forensic enquiries of blood analysis were also ongoing.

A potential trial date was fixed for October 20 and Davies will return to court next month for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
Owen Williams, defending, said a psychiatrist had been instructed to prepare a report into Davies' mental state.
Police were called to the property on the night of April 18 amid concerns for the welfare of two people.

They discovered the body of Ms Davies, formerly Young, and Michael Davies was arrested at the scene.
Speaking after the defendant was charged Detective Inspector Claire Lamerton of the South Wales Police major crime investigation team said: "This has been an incredibly distressing incident for the community in Cefn Cribwr. Our thoughts remain with Tracey's family and friends."
