"We haven't been together for seven months and now getting together with lots of new faces it has been a challenge, but the guys have been magnificent," said head coach Felipe Contepomi."They are training with a lot of intensity, we are very pleased with how they adapted."The former Leinster playmaker said that the difficulty in predicting the Lions' line-up and approach to the game had simplified his approach."For us it is very good, because we needed to focus on us and what we want to do and how we want to do it," he added."And then we expect the best of the best from the British Isles, we know all their players and we expect them to be playing hard."They miss some cohesion or maybe not because they are such top players they can click in one moment."Argentina are ranked fifth in the world and took three wins from their six matches in last year's Rugby Championship. The Lions will name their team at 14:00 BST. Head coach Andy Farrell will be without Mallia's Toulouse team-mate Blair Kinghorn, but is likely to ask several of his squad to, like Montoya, pull off a six-day turnaround from domestic finals. The Leinster trio of Jamison Gibson-Park, Tadhg Furlong and Hugo Keenan all missed Leinster's United Rugby Championship win over the Bulls on Saturday and will be given more time to recover from injuries. After playing Argentina, the Lions will fly to Perth and take on the Western Force in their first tour game on 28 June.

Mykhaylo Mudryk: Chelsea winger could face four-year ban after being charged over alleged doping
Chelsea player Mykhaylo Mudryk is facing a potential ban of up to four years after being charged by the Football Association (FA) with doping offences. The Ukraine international was provisionally suspended in December after returning a positive drug test, reportedly for the banned substance meldonium. At the time, the 24-year-old said the result came as "a complete shock" and stated he had "not done anything wrong". Chelsea added that he had "never knowingly used any banned substances". In a statement on Wednesday, the FA said: "We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of regulations three and four of the FA's anti-doping regulations." The positive result occurred shortly after the winger returned from international duty with Ukraine in November. After being absent from Chelsea for four games, before his suspension was made public, the club's manager Enzo Maresca initially said Mudryk was unavailable through illness. He last played in the Premier League on 10 November as a second-half substitute in a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. Since his £88m move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023, Mudryk has scored just 10 goals in 73 appearances in all competitions and has rarely held down a regular place in the team. Since Maresca took over at Chelsea in July 2024, most of Mudryk's games have come in the cup competitions and in Europe, with just a single Premier League start in August's 6-2 win over Wolves. Earlier this month Mudryk's number 10 shirt was allocated to midfielder Cole Palmer for next season, leaving him without a squad number at Stamford Bridge. Mudryk has made no public comment on the case since a statement on Instagram in December in which he denied wrongdoing. The player also said that he remained "hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon."

Trent Alexander-Arnold STARTS for Real Madrid as England defender makes long-awaited debut for Spanish giants in Club World Cup clash after leaving Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named in Real Madrid's starting XI as he makes his long-awaited debut for the Spanish giants. Madrid kick off their Club World Cup campaign against Al-Hilal at Inter Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, the home of Lionel Messi, on Wednesday evening. Alexander-Arnold, simply known as Trent on the back of his Madrid shirt, is playing in his first club game since he ended his 20-year association with boyhood side Liverpool. The right-back has chosen the number 12 shirt and wowed supporters with his fluent Spanish at his unveiling last week. Los Blancos paid Liverpool £10million for the defender despite his contract expiring, so that they could guarantee his involvement in the Club World Cup. They will hope that the Englishman, who has signed a six-year deal, can spearhead them to a sixth title, having last won it in 2022. Real Madrid paid Liverpool £10m so they could secure the defender's services a month early On Monday, the 26-year-old spoke for the first time about how he is adapting to life as a Galactico and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jnr. 'Hot to start with but a good session with some good things,' he told the club's website. '[It was] good to get a feel of the ball and a feel of the heat training in this climate so it was a good session. '[It was] high quality. The ball moves very fast. Obviously it's a lot different to what I'm used to in terms of the players and the style of play but it's good and I'm enjoying the change and I'm enjoying being a part of it. It feels really good and I'm happy to be here to be honest.' Before his unveiling as a Real player at the Bernabeu last week, Alexander-Arnold embarked on a tour of the club's facilities, where he was even shown some of the club's recent Champions League trophies. Wednesday's fixture also marks Xabi Alonso's first game as Madrid boss after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti. Madrid lifted the Club World Cup trophy three years in a row between 2016 and 2018 and begin the tournament against Saudi side Al-Hilal. The Riyadh-based outfit finished second in the Saudi Pro League and boast Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in their squad. They appointed Simone Inzahgi, who led Inter Milan to the Champions League final less than three weeks ago, as manager earlier this month. Madrid will face Mexican side Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg as they look to top their group.
