OSSC extends deadline for Junior Engineer preference update till April 30
OSSC JE preference update
2025:
The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has announced an extension for candidates to update or modify their post, department, or HoD preferences for the post of Junior Engineer and Junior Engineer (Civil) under the Combined Technical Services Recruitment Examination (CTSRE)-2023. The extension comes in light of technical issues that occurred during the last two days of the original window for preference revision.
According to an official notice issued on April 25, 2025, the Commission has decided to allow additional time to ensure that all candidates get a fair opportunity to submit their updated preferences. The revised deadline for online submission is now set as April 30, 2025. This extension provides candidates two extra days beyond the previously scheduled date.
Extension follows technical issues
The preference update process was initially notified under Advertisement No. 4812/OSSC dated December 8, 2023. It was followed by Corrigendum No. 5045/OSSC dated December 26, 2023, and another Corrigendum and Addendum No. 5002/OSSC dated December 18, 2023. A subsequent notice bearing No. 2028/OSSC, dated April 17, 2025, had fixed the earlier deadline.

However, due to technical disruptions faced by several candidates in the final two days, OSSC has taken the step of extending the link availability period. The Commission stated that this extension is aimed at ensuring that all aspirants are able to access the portal and make necessary modifications without inconvenience.
Window available on official OSSC website
The revised window for preference modification will remain active on the official OSSC website — www.ossc.gov.in — until April 30, 2025. Candidates who were unable to make changes due to the technical issues are advised to utilise this extended period without delay.
Terms and conditions remain unchanged
The Commission has clarified that all other terms and conditions mentioned in the earlier notice dated April 17, 2025 (Notice No. 2028/OSSC), remain unchanged. Only the deadline for updating preferences has been altered in light of recent circumstances.
This move is expected to benefit numerous candidates and reflects OSSC's commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in its recruitment process.

Fed likely to leave rates unchanged as US job market cools but doesn't crumble

Federal Reserve policymakers have already signaled they are in no rush to cut interest rates , and a government report on Friday showing the labor market is far from crumbling amid big trade policy changes only cements that stance. The Labor Department 's monthly employment report showed the unemployment rate held steady at 4.2% last month. Employers added 139,000 jobs, which combined with downward revisions to prior months' estimates showed a cooling in labor demand but nothing abrupt; by comparison, job gains averaged 160,000 last year. U.S. President Donald Trump ratcheted up his calls for rate cuts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Killer New Honda CR-V Is Utter Perfection (Take A Look) SneakerToast Undo "Go for a full point, Rocket Fuel," Trump said in a post on Truth Social that urged the Fed to lower rates by 100 basis points. The president added that the Fed could simply increase rates again if inflation reignited. But the latest job growth reading is already giving Fed policymakers more comfort about holding the U.S. central bank's policy rate steady as they watch to see how higher import tariffs affect the economy. Live Events It "was a solid report and I was pleased with it," Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker told CNBC, adding that now was the time for the Fed to hold policy steady. Fed officials have telegraphed that they intend to do just that at their June 17-18 policy meeting. Financial markets have been betting the Fed will wait until September to cut rates and will deliver a second reduction in borrowing costs by December; after the jobs report they trimmed their bets on a possible third rate cut by the end of this year. "Continued strength in the jobs number provides further support for the Fed's patience," said Scott Helfstein, Global X's head of investment strategy. "The Fed is likely to remain on hold through the end of summer to see how tariff negotiations proceed and ensure prices are stabilizing." Analysts said they expect more softening ahead in the labor market as higher import levies and government policy uncertainty strain economic growth. Job gains in May were concentrated in a narrowing range of industries, including healthcare, and manufacturing lost jobs in its worst showing since January, the employment report showed. The workforce shrank by the most in 17 months. Fed policymakers, however, have signaled they are disinclined to act preemptively to cushion any emerging weakness in jobs, especially with higher tariffs seen likely to also push up prices and potentially reignite inflationary pressures. The takeaway on the labor market for the Fed, said Krishna Guha, vice chairman of Evercore ISI, is that, "given the lack of any serious cracks to date, the risk of waiting several more months to learn more with policy in a modestly restrictive posture looks low."

Wayne Gretzky sparks controversy by accusing Florida Panthers of buying success with tax loopholes

Wayne Gretzky sparked debate by highlighting financial disparities in the NHL (Getty Images) Wayne Gretzky, the face of hockey greatness, has ignited a fierce debate that goes beyond the ice rink—one that's raising eyebrows across NHL circles and beyond. While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, "The Great One" opened up about the financial disparities in the league, taking subtle aim at how no-state-income-tax franchises like the Florida Panthers might be gaining an upper hand in the talent war. Wayne Gretzky says NHL players face a 'business decision' between culture and cash Speaking candidly, Wayne Gretzky stated, 'Obviously Florida and Tampa Bay is a unique situation…from a financial point of view, if that's what a player's thinking about, obviously, but if a player's thinking, you know, what I want to play in a hockey culture, like playing and living in the city of Edmonton, I loved it for 10 years.' Wayne Gretzky Breaks Down The Stanley Cup Finals, Keys To His Success, & His Terrible Golf Game Gretzky's words struck a chord—highlighting the growing tension between market-driven decisions and hockey's traditional roots. While Florida teams like the Panthers can offer higher take-home pay due to their tax structure, cities like Edmonton offer something money can't buy: fan intensity and legacy. Florida's financial edge sparks fairness concerns across the NHL The Panthers' on-ice success, including multiple Stanley Cup Final runs, has coincided with the state's tax-friendly policies, allowing the team to recruit and retain talent without overspending. That advantage, though legal, raises a question of fairness. Could this be undermining the NHL's competitive balance? Gretzky didn't directly accuse teams of exploiting the tax loophole—but his tone was clear. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The new hoseless mobile air conditioner does not require installation (search now) Air Condition | Search Ads Search Now Undo When discussing Edmonton, he reflected, 'You leave the arena in Edmonton, you know you've been in a hockey game…1.3 million have watched that game and the other 200,000…the only reason they didn't is because they were working.' Maurice also lauded GM Bill Zito's cross-sport cooperation with the Dolphins and Marlins, saying, 'Bill's been kind of involved.
