Israel strikes command center of Iran's elite military unit that lead Tehran's support for Hamas

New York Post6 hours ago

Israel overnight wiped out the command center of Iran's Quds Force — the elite military unit that served as the 'main conduit' for proxy terror attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said Monday.
'The Quds Force has been the main conduit for many of the terrorist attacks and assaults against Isreal in recent decades,' he said. 'Now, the command centers where these attacks were planned have been completely destroyed.'

In total, Israel targeted more than 20 Iranian military and Quds command centers — killing the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard's head of intelligence, his deputy and the deputy head of the Quds Force's intelligence organization.
'The Quds Force is the central terror arm of the Iranian regime. It is responsible for operating Iran's proxies around Israel's borders and for distributing weapons and missiles intended for attack the state of Israel,' Defrin said.

Hamas is the terror organization in Gaza that conducted the brutal Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israeli civilians that prompted Israel's war. The group continues to hold kidnapped Israelis and the bodies of many dead hostage.

Iran State TV hit by Israeli airstrike during live broadcast

The building that houses Iran's state-run television in Tehran was hit by a reported Israeli airstrike during a live broadcast on Monday. An Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) television reporter said the studio was filling with dust after "the sound of aggression against the homeland." An explosion then occurred, and the broadcast quickly turned chaotic and switched to prerecorded programs. The strike came as the Israeli military claimed to have obtained "aerial superiority" over Tehran on Monday. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike, saying it "conducted a precise strike based on intelligence provided by the Intelligence Directorate, targeting a communication center that was being used for military purposes by the Iranian Armed Forces." The building "was used by the Iranian Armed Forces under the guise of civilian activity, covering up the military use of the center's infrastructure and assets," according to the IDF. The strike directly harmed the military capabilities of the Iranian Armed Forces, the IDF added. The IDF had issued an evacuation warning for civilians in Tehran prior to the strike. "Israeli civilians do not get evacuation warnings before running to shelters. We aren't the same," the IDF posted on X. The IDF previously said it has degraded Iranian air defenses and missile systems to the point that Israeli planes can now operate over Tehran without facing major threats. It said Israel now controls the skies from western Iran to Tehran. This is a developing story, more to come…

Israeli strike on Iranian state TV fills studio with dust and debris during live broadcast

An Iranian state television reporter had to stop a live broadcast Monday when an explosion occurred an hour after Israel issued a warning to evacuate the area of Tehran where the TV studios are located. The reporter for the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network said the studio was filling with dust after 'the sound of aggression against the homeland, the sound of aggression against truth and righteousness.' Anchor Sahar Emami rushed off-camera as the screen behind her cut out, and people were heard saying 'Allahu akbar,' the Arabic phrase for God is great. The broadcast quickly switched to pre-recorded programs. Soon, Emami came back live from another studio and was seen speaking with another anchor. She said that 'bodies of reporters' were at the site of the initial broadcast, and images showed smoke and flames in the sky. Israel's defense minister took credit for the attack. 'The Iranian regime's propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority was attacked by the IDF after a widespread evacuation of the area's residents,' Israel Katz said in a statement. 'We will strike the Iranian dictator everywhere.' An hour earlier, the Israeli military had issued an evacuation warning affecting up to 330,000 people in a part of central Tehran that includes the country's state TV and police headquarters, as well as three large hospitals. The IDF has issued similar evacuation warnings for civilians in parts of Gaza and Lebanon ahead of strikes. The warning came on the fourth day of the conflict , when the Israeli military claimed it had achieved air superiority above the Iranian capital and could fly over the city without facing major threats.
