Dirtiest U.S. Cities Revealed

Saba Yemen26-04-2025

New York - (Saba):
Despite New York City's reputation for its insect population, trash-filled streets, and strange odors, a study has revealed that it did not rank among the top 10 dirtiest cities in the United States.
In a study published by HouseFresh, a platform specializing in indoor air quality, and reported by the New York Post, researchers analyzed 12.3 million cleanliness-related reports received by 311 emergency services in several American cities, with the aim of identifying those cities most in need of health improvement.
The study stated: "We ranked cities according to the number of cleanliness-related reports per 100,000 residents."
Baltimore ranked first as the "dirtiest city" in the United States, with an extremely high rate of 47,295 reports per 100,000 residents. This, according to the researchers, indicates "a clear gap between the needs of residents and the reality of the city's cleanliness." They added that "six of the dirtiest zip codes are all located within or near the city center."
New York City, meanwhile, had a "surprisingly low" complaint rate of 3,728 reports per 100,000 residents, compared to Los Angeles' 21,616, despite its glamorous appearance.
New York City ranked 17th among the 23 dirtiest American cities.
However, despite this ranking, which represents an improvement over its ranking as the second dirtiest city in the world according to the 2022 survey, one of its neighborhoods still needs a lot of attention.
The data showed that the highest complaint rate in the city came from Brooklyn, with a record 7,664 reports. Researchers explained that this neighborhood, whose population has increased by 6.8% since 2020 to more than 2.5 million, attracts a large number of tourists annually, which explains the deterioration in cleanliness due to increased human pressure.
In contrast, the data showed that the 11040 code in the New Hyde Park neighborhood on Long Island is the cleanest in the "tri-state" region (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).
Second after Baltimore is Sacramento, California. The state capital is home to its largest river, the California River, which is among the most polluted in the country, according to a recent report by the Environmental Integrity Project.
However, a representative for the City of Sacramento explained to HouseFresh that the city encourages residents to call 311 to report any service requests, such as starting garbage collection or reporting a damaged container, which may explain the increase in reports there.
Meanwhile, last summer, the New York City Department of Sanitation launched a new campaign calling on residents to report their most derelict neighbors. A digital "Hall of Shame" was created to display the names and belongings of prominent offenders.
Former Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the hall would serve as a space to "shame and shame those who endanger the surrounding community by allowing filth to accumulate." She added, "Some of the derelict have gone too far... but now, the era of trash clutter is over."
The cleanest city in the nation, according to the study, is Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which recorded only 309 reports related to littering, despite being the state's most populous city.
The following is a list of the dirtiest American cities, based on the number of litter reports per 100,000 residents:
Baltimore, Maryland - 47,295

Palestinian Al-Ahrar Movement: "Anyone who thinks resistance in Gaza ended & will raise white flag is delusional"

Gaza – Saba: The Palestinian Al-Ahrar Movement affirmed on Wednesday evening its commitment to "national unity, which we urgently need in the face of this aggression and the war crimes committed against our children , women, amid international silence and full alignment with the Zionist occupation." In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the movement emphasized that "our unity lies in our cohesion, strengthening our steadfastness, and unifying our goal: confronting this occupation by all means, foremost among them armed resistance." The statement noted that "amid the ongoing Zionist aggression and genocide in Gaza, voices have emerged calling for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority to take over the administration of the Gaza Strip." In response, the movement asserted that "anyone who thinks the resistance in Gaza has ended and will raise the white flag is delusional. Our heroic fighters continue to shackle the Zionist enemy daily through deadly ambushes, unleashing hell with the stones of David, inflicting human and material losses on their soldiers, equipment, and Gideon forces. Resistance operations remain at their peak despite the scorched-earth policy implemented by the Zionist occupation army in Gaza." The statement added: "Once the war ends and the aggression against our people stops, the next day will be purely Palestinian. Through national consensus—and while we recognize that the PLO has been afflicted by senility and Alzheimer's—there is no harm in it assuming Gaza's affairs after restructuring and rebuilding its internal system, integrating all Palestinian factions, and forming an honorable stance aligned with our people's resilience and sacrifices. Without this, no party, regardless of its status, has the right to lead the Palestinian scene." The movement further stated: "We view these calls, at a time when our people's blood is being shed, as a systematic and reprehensible intelligence operation aimed at exploiting the current security situation to benefit the Authority at the expense of our people's suffering. These voices ignore the Authority's complete silence regarding the crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, as well as documented reports and videos implicating some of its elements in security chaos, internal strife, and collaboration with the occupation. Their stance seems to say: 'When will Gaza be entered, even if on the back of a Zionist-American tank?'" The movement concluded: "Those demanding the Authority's rule over Gaza are either blind in sight and insight or complicit in its security, moral, and national collapse. Its disgraceful model of governance in the West Bank is evident to all, with its security agencies' violations against resistance fighters under the guise of 'sacred security coordination,' as declared by its leaders, and its crimes against our people—suppressing rights and freedoms while playing interchangeable roles with the occupation." 27 Palestinians Martyred in 'Aid Massacre' in Southern Gaza Strip

Gaza – SABA: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed that 27 Palestinians were martyred early Tuesday due to gunfire near an aid distribution center west of Rafah city in southern Gaza Strip, in an incident that sparked widespread international condemnation and calls for an independent investigation. Earlier in the day, Palestinian sources reported that 27 people were killed and more than 90 others injured as a result of Israeli occupation forces shelling and opening fire on thousands heading to the aid center west of Rafah. In a statement, the ICRC said its field hospital in Rafah received 184 wounded individuals, 19 of whom were declared dead upon arrival, while 8 others later succumbed to their injuries. The committee noted that 'most of the injuries were gunshot wounds.' It described the incident as 'the deadliest in terms of casualties since the hospital was established over a year ago,' stressing that the number of victims far exceeded the hospital's 60-bed capacity. Meanwhile, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, said the massacre targeted citizens waiting for American aid near the Al-Alam roundabout in the Al-Mawasi area west of Rafah, adding that more than 90 people were injured in the attack. On the international front, UN Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned the incident, calling it 'unacceptable.' His spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said: 'Civilians should not lose their lives simply because they are trying to get food,' reiterating the Secretary-General's call for an immediate and independent investigation and for those responsible to be held accountable. This deadly incident comes amid catastrophic humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where the population faces severe shortages of food, water, and medicine after nearly twenty months of an ongoing genocide, and where humanitarian aid delivery remains an immense challenge. Gaza: Occupier turns aid distribution centers into collective death snares

Gaza - Saba: The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip said on Tuesday that the Israeli enemy had turned "US-Israeli aid distribution centers" into mass death traps and bloodbaths. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the office confirmed that this had led to the death toll from starvation rising to 102 martyrs and 490 wounded in just eight days. It reported that in a horrific, intentionally repeated crime, Israeli enemy forces committed a new massacre on Tuesday near the US-Israeli aid center in Rafah Governorate, resulting in the deaths of 27 starving civilians and the wounding of more than 90 others with varying degrees of injury. The Office pointed out that this massacre brought the death toll at these "centers" to 102 martyrs and 490 wounded since they began operating in the Rafah and Wadi Gaza Bridge areas on May 27. This is part of a dubious project run under the supervision of the "Israeli" enemy and promoted under the guise of a "humanitarian response," while killing is being carried out in public and on live television, and systematic genocide is being perpetrated. The Office emphasized that the so-called "aid distribution centers," which are established in exposed and dangerous red zones under the control of the enemy army, have turned into mass bloodbaths, luring starving civilians to them due to the crippling famine and the tight siege. They are then deliberately and coldly shot, in a scene that epitomizes the malice of the project and exposes its true objectives. It pointed out that these points are not subject to any independent humanitarian oversight, but are security-managed by the "Israeli" enemy and an American security company, making them killing points under a false humanitarian cover. International law classifies them as sites of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Government Media Office condemned, in the strongest terms, the perpetration of these massacres against starving civilians, holding the Israeli enemy fully responsible for these ongoing massacres carried out under the guise of "aid." It also held the US administration, which politically and on the ground supports this bloody project, directly responsible for the use of food as a weapon in the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The Office pointed out that the daily recurrence of massacres at distribution centers, in broad daylight, and with shocking numbers of martyrs and wounded, reveals to the world that what is happening is the deliberate use of aid as a tool for mass murder and ethnic cleansing, which amounts to the crime of genocide under Article II of the 1948 Genocide Convention. The Office called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and human rights organizations to assume their moral and legal responsibilities, take immediate action, and exert pressure by all available means to open official crossings without interference or conditions from the Israeli enemy. It also called for the delivery of humanitarian aid through UN institutions and neutral international organizations, far removed from this murderous "Israeli"-American model. The Office called for the urgent formation of an independent international investigation committee to document these massacres and bring their perpetrators to international justice, warning against the consequences of international silence, which gives the green light to further massacres. The Office affirmed its categorical rejection of the so-called "buffer zones" or "humanitarian corridors" established by the enemy, considering these projects to be bloody traps aimed at gathering civilians in mass killing points, then shooting them daily and killing them without warning and in complete disregard for the most basic principles of international humanitarian law. It stated that the continuation of these crimes, amid shameful international silence, is a stain on humanity and proves that the enemy continues to commit the most heinous forms of genocide before the world's cameras, without deterrence or accountability.
