Tenby soap star takes on motorbike ride in memory of friend

Charles Dale, 62, known for his roles in Coronation Street and Casualty, was left heartbroken when his friend, Shaun Griffiths, 63, died after a fall down the stairs.
Mr Griffiths' "silly" household accident in October last year caused a brain injury that led to his death.
Mr Dale, who has also appeared in Emmerdale, Holby City, and The Bill, will now ride across Britain, visiting 100 motorcycle cafes in a sponsored ride.
The month-long adventure, dubbed Shaun's TT One Hundred, will raise money for Brain Tumour Research and Headway.
Mr Dale said: "Just over six months ago one of my oldest and best friends suffered a catastrophic brain injury because of what can only be described as a 'silly' household accident - he slipped on the stairs.
"Unfortunately for Shaun this resulted in a bleed on the brain and just over a week later his family had to make the most difficult decision ever, to withdraw life support.
"Shaun died shortly after. He was 63."
Mr Dale, who now serves as deputy mayor of Tenby, has become an ambassador for Brain Tumour Research after witnessing the impact of brain tumours on friends and their families.
He said: "Seeing the devastating impact brain tumours have had on my friends' lives has been awful - so I'm deeply honoured to become an ambassador for Brain Tumour Research, the leading voice of the brain tumour community and a cause that's very close to my heart."
Dan Knowles, CEO of Brain Tumour Research, said: "We are deeply honoured to announce Charles as our new ambassador.
"He has been a huge support to the charity, playing a key role in some of our biggest campaigns."
Russell Marriott, director of income generation and development at Brain Tumour Research, said: "We are enormously grateful to Charles for his dedication in taking on this challenge to shine a light on Brain Tumour Research and Headway."
Jen Murgatroyd, director of fundraising at Headway, said: "We're proud to join Brain Tumour Research in celebrating Charles' remarkable journey."

Emmerdale horror as legend's child is found with sleeping tablets

A village youth is in danger (Picture: ITV) The daughter of Emmerdale legend Paddy Kirk's (Dominic Brunt) life is at risk when she's discovered with an open bottle of sleeping pills. Little Eve Dingle (Bella James) becomes collateral damage as granddad Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) continues to struggle with his insomnia. Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw hinted that Bear would be at the heart of a surprising storyline earlier this month, telling a press conference: 'He's going to go off screen for a little while and go missing.' She continued: 'And when he comes back, what you'll see is a very different Bear in a really different situation and we're all going to be watching saying 'what the hell has happened here?''. While the exact circumstances surrounding Bear's 'disappearance' remain to be seen, it's likely to tie into his sudden insomnia. But this spells danger for Eve, who leaves Paddy horrified when he and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) find her with Bear's freshly prescribed sleeping pills. Paddy is worried about dad Bear (Picture: ITV/Shutterstock) With Bear still suffering from insomnia, Paddy and Mandy persuade him to go and see Doctor Liam (Jonny McPherson). Returning home, he promises Eve some sweets if she stays quiet. She agrees, and he heads out. Growing bored, Eve sneaks into the kitchen where she finds Bear's box of sleeping tablets… Mandy and Paddy are horrified to find Eve's been at Bear's pills (Picture: ITV) Later, Mandy and Paddy wake up after an accidental nap. They're terrified when they see that Eve's been at Bear's box of pills while they were sleeping. Is Eve about to be taken seriously ill? Bear joined the soap in 2019 (Picture: ITV/Shutterstock) With Bear's storyline only just beginning, this will likely herald his promised 'disappearance' from the village. He's been keeping a low profile in recent months, living at Tenants with Paddy, Mandy and Liam – all seemingly forgiven since he discovered that Mandy's side-hustle as a financial dominatrix. Will he be able to forgive himself in anything happens to Eve? And what will happen to him in his upcoming absence? Devastating funeral, surprise return and arrest on Coronation Street next week

Coronation Street fans may want to get the tissues next week, as the soap are set to air the final goodbye for PC Craig Tinker - but one resident fails to attend It's set to be an emotional week in Coronation Street next week as Craig Tinker gets the send off he deserves after being brutally killed. However, things are thrown into chaos when one resident fails to show up. We'll also see Betsy sneakily visit someone in prison, and a shock arrest for another unlikely resident. ‌ The funeral day starts off in panic when Sarah's concerned to discover that Kit's already left for the day. Lisa is then forced to step in and make a heartfelt speech at the funeral after he's still no where to be seen. But where is Kit? ‌ It's evident he has a lot on his mind as absence comes after he finds Brody injured in an alley with a broken bottle of whisky next to him. It's also a tough week for Lisa - as Carla confides in Betsy that she's worried for her partner. However, Betsy only adds to the worry as Lisa soon catches her daughter snooping through some of her old files. If the emotions of the weeks on goings weren't enough for Lisa, she's set for another shock when she learns her daughter has lied about her whereabouts. Unbeknownst to Lisa, Betsy shows best friend Lauren a picture on her phone of the letter she found containing information on her mum, Becky, and is intent on getting answers. ‌ She then seeks support from Lauren, who accompanies her to the prison visiting room where she prepares to meet Logan, the villainous brother of Mason and Matty Radcliffe. Betsy tells him she's here to find out what really happened to Becky. But will Logan's return come with the answers she needs? However, it's not long before Steve lets slip to Lisa and Carla that Betsy has lied about her whereabouts and in fact ordered a cab to Highfield Prison. How will Lisa and Carla react? Betsy's not the only one in trouble - as Maria's shock altercation leaves her in trouble with the police. ‌ During the Platts barbeque, Maria demands Lou empties her pockets after assuming she's stolen money from Shona. But are Maria's accusations correct? The drama later escalates when Lou is found on the living room floor with a broken coffee table - with Maria standing over her. ‌ The police quickly arrive and tell Maria they're arresting her on suspicion of ABH. But did she do it? Elsewhere, there could be more upset for Todd after saying goodbye to his mother Eileen last week. He's left gutted when Theo cancels their date - could their relationship be on the rocks?

The 1% Club players stumped on ‘easy' Coronation Street ‘spot the difference' question – could you get it in 30 seconds?

THE 1% Club viewers were left scratching their heads after a 'simple' Coronation Street question proved too tricky for most players. The ITV game show, hosted by comedian Lee Mack, challenged contestants to spot the difference in a classic cobbles scene from Coronation Street. 4 Some players were stumped on an early picture question based on the ITV soap - how would you do under pressure? Credit: ITV Instead of testing players on their general knowledge, 100 contestants try their luck at solving riddles within 30 seconds. On The 1% Club, they are whittled down round by round as they are tasked with using their logic, reasoning skills, and common sense. With every player that gets eliminated, £1,000 gets added to the prize pot as the players try to answer questions that certain percentages of the public would get right. The players that remain at the end will fight to win a potentially huge jackpot prize and a chance at joining the prestigious one percent club. In a recent episode, the 70% question saw contestants get wiped out on an easy picture question. Lee asked: "What is the difference between these two images?" The answer was: "The image on the right shows Ravers instead of Rovers." Another episode also saw an 'easy' common sense riddle knock out a massive 23 people - also a 70% question. Lee said: "John writes with his right hand and the last word he'd right if he was writing this sentence would be be. "If Keith writes with his left hand, what would be the last word he would write in the sentence above?" The 1% Club players stumped on tricky maths question as 13 players pass - but could you have got it right- The answer was the word 'be', as a different writing hand would not change the last word, something which many viewers playing along got correct. However, a whopping 23 players in the studio answered the riddle incorrectly and they were eliminated from the game. Viewers took to social media in droves as they couldn't believe so many players left the game after such an 'easy' question One wrote: "How t* have 23 gone out?? Being left handed doesn't mean you write words in the wrong order." Hardest Quiz Show Questions Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: 'From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?' The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000. - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. The 1% Club - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. Another added: "Too many people thinking too hard on that one #The1PercentClub." A third penned: "TWENTY THREE out on THAT?!?!" The 1% Club is available to watch on ITV1 and stream on ITVX. 4 Many viewers said the question was 'easy' - but would you have got it right?
