Austin Reaves has become a star for the Los Angeles Lakers, rising from undrafted rookie to standout guard and fan favorite. Over four seasons, he's carved out a niche as the Lakers' dependable third option, known for his shooting touch and high basketball IQ. His relentless work ethic, infectious energy, and willingness to embrace the spotlight have endeared him to the Crypto.com Arena crowd and beyond.

Despite a strong run in the regular season, Los Angeles stumbled in the playoffs. Following their first-round exit, speculation mounted about Reaves' long-term role. It was reported by Dan Woike of the LA Times that the Lakers are not expected to move Reaves, but Woike's colleague Bill Plaschke argued they should.

That speculation was addressed head-on this weekend during the Reaves Brothers Basketball Camp. Speaking to Charles McCary of K8 News, Reaves said:
'I want to be in LA. I want to play my whole career in LA. I love it there ... I don't pay attention to [the trade rumors]. I keep my head down work… And obviously the Lakers is the best organization in basketball.'

On trade rumors, he added, "I don't pay attention to it. I keep my head down work, and I feel like that's one of the reasons I'm where I'm at."
Reaves' 2024-25 season was arguably his best yet—he averaged 20.2 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 46% from the field. His leap in production earned him a fifth-place finish in Most Improved Player voting and sparked conversations about his ascending value. His ability to create, space the floor, and deliver in big moments makes him a potentially valuable piece alongside LeBron James and Doncic next season.
With those credentials and a public declaration of loyalty, Reaves is staking his claim to remain a core piece of the Lakers' future. If Los Angeles prioritizes continuity and chemistry alongside its star duo, Reaves may well stay—and thrive—as the team's undisputed third scoring threat.

João Klauss has 1st career MLS hat trick for St. Louis in 3-3 tie with Galaxy

João Klauss scored three goals — the first hat trick in club history and the 28-year-old's first in MLS — the last of which came in the fifth minute of stoppage time for St. Louis City on Saturday in a 3-3 tie with the LA Galaxy. Goalkeeper Roman Bürki played a free kick from beyond midfield to the edge of the box where Timo Baumgartl flicked a header toward goal. Klauss ran onto the ball at the right edge of the 6-yard box and slipped a first-touch shot inside the back post to cap the scoring. St. Louis (3-9-6) has one win — a 2-1 victory over San Jose on May 31 — in its last 14 games. Klauss near the left corner of the area, played a short pass to Marcel Hartel and darted toward goal as Hartel tapped it back to Klauss for a rolling finish from the edge of the 6-yard box to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. Gabriel Pec scored his second goal of the season and his first since March 2 to tie it at 1-1 in the 41st. Pec put away a one-touch finish off a centering pass played by Marco Reus from the right side of the area. Pec stole a misplayed back-pass after St. Louis defender Jayden Reid slipped and fell and then cut back to evade Bürki, who had charged off his line, before casually rolling a shot into a wide-open net to give LA a 3-2 lead in the 87th. Célio Pompeu played an arcing one-touch ball ahead, off a Galaxy giveaway, down the right side to a streaking Klauss, who blasted a rising shot inside the near post and under the crossbar to give St. Louis a 2-1 lead in the 47th minute. Matheus Nascimento scored his first MLS goal in the 21-year-old's third career start to make it 2-2 in the 51st minute. John Nelson played a centering pass to Rues, who tapped back-heel pass from a few yards outside the area to Nascimento for a one-touch finish from near the penalty spot. The Galaxy (1-12-5), the defending MLS Cup champions, beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 last time out and to snap the longest winless streak to begin a season in MLS history at 16 games. St. Louis, which beat the Galaxy 3-0 on March 9, is unbeaten in four straight against LA.

Neto, Fernández each score to lead Chelsea over LAFC 2-0 in Club World Cup

Pedro Neto scored in the first half and Enzo Fernández in the 79th minute to give Chelsea a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC in Group D's Club World Cup opener on Monday. Chelsea put pressure on LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris early in the match. Neto scored in the 34th minute, picking up a pass from Nicolas Jackson and cutting onto his left foot for a near-post finish. There were 22,137 fans in attendance at the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium, many of them backing LAFC. The Black and Gold had positive sparks of energy and possession throughout the first half, but struggled to find any real opportunities in front of goal. LAFC almost got one back just before the 60-minute mark, but Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez came up with a save to keep Denis Bouanga off the scoresheet. The Black and Gold aimed to get some more experience onto the pitch at the half, bringing on former Chelsea man Olivier Giroud. Giroud made a stir as he subbed on when he had to wait on the sidelines for a matchday shirt with his name and number. The mixup led to a delay in the start of the second half. Coming in off the bench, Fernández made no mistake finishing Liam Delap's cross, adding an insurance goal for The Blues. Key moment Chelsea's day was made even more positive by the debut of Delap, a promising 22-year-old English striker signed from Ipswich Town. Takeaways While Chelsea is the favorite to top Group D, LAFC's next two matches become essential to moving on to the knock-out rounds. LAFC vs. Flamengo will prove to be an entertaining game, with the two sides most likely battling it out for the group's second spot. What they said "It's a high level against a quality team. If you give them a moment, they'll punish you. They had two chances, and they punished us." — Marky Delgado, LAFC midfielder. "We know they've got amazing players and they're a really good team, but we've got to play our football. No matter who we're playing, we play our football really confident. … You've got to pick your moments, and I think we've done that well today." — Levi Colwill, Chelsea defender.

Charlie Morton struck out a season-high 10 in five innings, Ryan O'Hearn and Ramón Laureano hit home runs and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Los Angeles Angeles 2-0 on Friday night in a game that was delayed by rain before the start and again in the fifth inning. Morton (3-7) surrendered two straight singles to begin the fourth, but he struck out LaMonte Wade Jr. on three pitches before two ground balls got him out of the jam. Morton fanned Zach Neto leading off the fifth. He left after rain forced the second delay. Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz (3-8) used three groundball outs to retire the side in order in the first, but O'Hearn hit his 10th home run on Kochanowicz's first pitch in the second for a 1-0 lead. Laureano led off the fifth with his eighth homer for the final run. The second delay followed after a one-out single by Ramón Urías. Yennier Cano, Gregory Soto and Bryan Baker each pitched a scoreless inning for Baltimore before Félix Bautista had the final two of 14 strikeouts by the Orioles in notching his 12th save in 13 chances. Kochanowicz gave up two runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings and the Angels used four relievers to finish. The Orioles beat the Angels for the 20th time in the last 25 matchups. LA won 2 of 3 against Baltimore on May 9-11. Key moment Morton allowed the first two batters to reach in the first inning but came back to strike out Mike Trout and Jorge Soler looking and Logan O'Hoppe on a foul tip to set the game's tone. Key stat The Orioles began the day with a staff ERA of 5.00 — second-worst in the AL followed by the Angels at 4.76.
