I tried Next linen trousers and they are the one item to wear this summer

Linen is the go-to fabric for many during the summer months, offering a perfect blend of style and comfort. This year, the linen trend shows no signs of slowing down, with the focus on effortlessly elevating everyday looks.
There's a plethora of options available on the high street, but high-quality linen can come with a hefty price tag due to the labour-intensive process of harvesting and processing the material, and it's often seen as "rich people's clothing".
However, I've found an option that's not only comfortable for repeated wears but also easy on the wallet.
The Next Natural 100% Linen Premium Wide Leg Trousers, retailing at €65, are designed in a flattering wide-leg silhouette and feature an elastic waistband with pockets. Shoppers can opt for a coordinated look with the matching blouse, priced at €40.50.
However, the Boho Tie Top isn't my preferred style for city living, so I opted for the Belle Linen Shirt from Reiss (€140) instead. Rather than a stark white shade, I find the trousers in a natural colour more appealing.
The cream/beige hue closely matches my skin tone, making it an ideal camouflage to conceal underwear. For those who don't want their underwear visible under sunlight, black could be another option.
But remember, light-coloured clothing reflects light and absorbs less heat, so Next's Khaki alternative might just tick all the boxes.
Over the weekend, I donned my Next linen trousers for a sunny day trip to Brighton. The trousers allowed me to enjoy the sea breeze without having to resort to shorts or risk a wardrobe mishap with a skirt.
However, being 5'3", I found the trousers slightly too long and ended up tripping over them on the beach. This embarrassing incident served as a reminder that I need to take an inch off the trouser hems. Despite this, my friends showered compliments on the linen piece, saying: "It looks so good on you, it's soft and light to touch, goes well with your blue linen shirt."
Another friend suggested: "You can also wear it over your bikini on holiday and I like that it's not see-through." The trousers also feature generously sized pockets that easily accommodate my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the elasticated waistband creates a naturally cinched waist effect without the need for a tie belt.
Boden's Westbourne Linen Trousers, priced at €140 or 15% off with code G2R6, are more formal and ideal for a smart casual look. They feature a button fastening at the centre front with a zipped fly.
Over 50 shoppers are currently eyeing this piece online, according to the website, and it is available in petite, regular and long lengths. Omnes' Ramela Elasticated Waist Linen Trouser in White, priced at €92.95, is a straight leg style made from responsibly sourced cotton-linen.

‘I NEED that bag!' fashion fans yell about Next's fruity new accessory as they praise store's ‘insane' summer collection

A GOOD bag has the power to elevate any ordinary outfit into something extra special. So it comes as no surprise that fashion fans are racing to their nearest Next, in a bid to get their hands on one of the stunning new lemon handbags. 6 Fashion fans are going wild for Next's new collection - with these fruity bags top of their lists Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial 6 The fruit theme continued with this little pink bag, embellished with strawberries Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial 6 This beaded bag will be the "perfect summer beach" one, Next said Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial 6 While this little beaded number would be the perfect addition to any outfit Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial The store shared some of its favourite summer items in a picture slideshow "Psssttt - wanna see some of our fave accessories for summer?" they wrote over the top of the first snap. They then showed off the bag in question - a gorgeous beaded bright yellow number designed to look like a segment of lemon. "They need no introduction," they wrote over the picture. Read more Fashion stories The £55 beaded bag also comes in an equally cute watermelon design. And it was clear the bag is going to be a sought after accessory this summer, judging by the hundreds of people commenting on the TikTok. "Neeeed that lemon bag," one wrote. "We love the lemon and watermelon bags, Next!" another praised. Most read in Fabulous "Fruitylicious on the beach." "The lemon bag is going on the wishlist!" a third gushed. The summer trend dividing style queens - some call it a 'girl's best friend' but it brings back bad memories for others "Obsessed, beaded heaven," someone else said. "Sold. God sakes!" another joked. Other items included in the picture slideshow were a gorgeous shell necklace, which was paired with a green co-ord. And there are a fair few bags to choose from in store at the moment too. Like the "perfect summer beach bag" - a stunning cream option with tassels and intricate crochet detailing. Cow print is also a big trend this summer, with a neck scarf coming in the pattern to "elevate any outfit". Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks. And there are even lace-up cow print loafers - sure to divide style fans. Fruit continues to be a big theme, with a red bag featuring miniature strawberries on it. The comments section was once again filled with people praising Next for the epic offerings, with one insisting: "Omg need it all!" "Next have excelled this summer," another added. "I fear Next is eating the other high street shops up atm???????" a third mused. "Erm ok slay!!!!!!!!" someone else commented. "Your summer pieces are insane!" another mused. While someone else said they "can't afford this". "Next is doing so good this season!" someone else concluded. 6 The shell detailing on this necklace is a gorgeous mix of boho chic Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial 6 These cow print shoes are much more likely to divide style queens Credit: TikTok / @nextofficial

Next sandals hailed as 'very comfortable' with shoppers buying multiple pairs

Next customers are smitten with a chic €61.50 pair of sandals, which have enticed customers to repeatedly come back for more. The Lipsy Black Standard Fit Elastic Low Wedge Espadrille Sandals have been dubbed "very comfortable" by satisfied shoppers. The range includes standard, wide and extra wide fits, with a variety of colour choices, though availability may vary by size. Some shoppers were so taken with the stylish sandals that they've bought them multiple times, as one customer shared: "I have purchased these 3 times as I absolutely love them." However, sizing issues were mentioned by other purchasers, hence it's advised to check out reviews thoroughly before buying, reports the Mirror. Before taking the plunge on Next's sought-after sandals, it might be wise to peruse through the array of critiques for the Lipsy Black Standard Fit Elastic Low Wedge Espadrille Sandals. One particularly customer enthused about the fit: "Good fit true to size, very comfortable great to walk in. Wore them for my flight to Barbados to join a cruise and had them on over 12 hours so very pleased with them." Another fan gushed: "Some of the most comfortable wedges ever worn!! Love them and now have in three different colours!" Another shopper added: "I bought the navy Lipsy sandals and they are so comfortable to wear, I decided to get the nude ones as they will go with any outfit. Great price too." On the other hand, a customer was unimpressed, remarking: "Compete rubbish for the money. Sent them back." Another shopper observed: "I bought these sandals last year in a couple of colours. They go really nice with jeans, and are really comfortable. The quality of this pair doesn't seem as sturdy. I don't think they are going to last as long." Regarding sizing issues, one buyer expressed disappointment: "I was I bit disappointed with these. One of the shoes fit better than the other which feels a bit loose." When it came to the wide-fit option, views were mixed. An elated customer commented: "Such lovely comfortable sandals with a lightweight wedge heel. Being elasticated at front they don't hurt your feet. Quite expensive but worth it for comfort." Echoing the praise, another enthusiast noted: "I have purchased these 3 times as I absolutely love them. Very comfortable and look lovely. Good fit. Excellent delivery service." However, someone else had some constructive criticism about the design: "So pleased to find wide foot sandals with a decent wedge heel." One buyer noted a minor issue, saying: "My only criticism is that there could be slightly more padding under the foot, however I don't intend doing long treks in them so they'll be fine for what I'll be using them for. Bought two pairs one black one navy, size 5 UK, foot is a little long there's a bit of a gap at the heel." A different shopper remarked on the fit: "Perhaps I shouldn't have ordered wide fit, although I usually need these, but the straps were too loose and I had to return these sandals." On the flip side, another satisfied customer shared their positive experience: "I bought a pair last year they were so comfy I brought another pair but in a different colour. Highly recommend especially if you have wide feet."
