Oh, doctor! David Martinez blasts Saimon Oliveira for stunning UFC Mexico debut
They say you only get one chance to make a first impression, and David Martinez's was just what the doctor ordered at UFC on ESPN 64.
Martinez (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) turned out the lights on Saimon Oliveira (18-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC) in the first round of his UFC debut in front of his home Mexico fans – and in front of his sister in his corner, fellow UFC fighter Melissa Martinez. Martinez and his sister both are doctors, as well.
Martinez drilled Oliveira with a combination late in the first round of their bantamweight bout, then put the pressure on as he stumbled backward. A vicious knee up the middle sent the fight to the canvas, and there Martinez honed in with hammer fists until a couple were on the button.
Martinez was a massive 7-1 favorite in the fight – the most lopsided odds on the card at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Check out Martinez's finish below.

New video shows UFC 316 railing collapse that nearly hit Merab Dvalishvili on walkout
New video shows UFC 316 railing collapse that nearly hit Merab Dvalishvili on walkout New video has surfaced of the moment excited UFC 316 fans unexpectedly plunged to the floor Saturday at Prudential Center. As bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili walked out for his main event at Prudential Center, he was nearly crushed by bodies as the railing gave way to fans looking for high-fives or a peek at the Georgian star. Luckily for Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC), he avoided danger as he was swiftly escorted around the pile by security and commission staff. Team Dvalishvili member @ released a new angle of the incident Monday that more clearly shows what exactly happened. The incident marks the second time in just under two years such an incident has happened. In June 2023, a similar accident occurred during Mike Malott's UFC 289 walkout in Toronto. "It was our second one in 25 years," UFC CEO Dana White said to reporters including MMA Junkie after the event. "Everybody was hanging over the edge and it collapsed. Everybody was all right. Thank God this time it was a low one, not a high one." After he successfully defended his title, Dvalishvili was also asked about the incident. "That's funny," Dvalishvili said. "What happened was I was walking and then people tried to touch me and then, 'Oh, OK,' I jumped and tried to touch them as they pushed the barrier and they went down and they almost kicked me in the head. They almost knocked me out before I walked in. The barrier got broke or something because people pushed. Then, security put me against the wall like, 'OK, bro. I'm a fighter. Let me go. Anyway, thank God. Afterward, they told me nobody got hurt."

Daniel Cormier: 'It doesn't get easier for Sean O'Malley' after UFC 316 title loss
Daniel Cormier: 'It doesn't get easier for Sean O'Malley' after UFC 316 title loss Daniel Cormier thinks Sean O'Malley now faces a tough road back to the UFC title. O'Malley (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) lost to bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) for the second-straight time when he was submitted in Saturday's UFC 316 headliner at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. O'Malley lost in more definitive fashion after dropping their first fight at UFC 306 by unanimous decision. Cormier says O'Malley finds himself in a quandary, as he'll have to face murderer's row at bantamweight if he wants to re-insert himself in the title picture. "He just lost to the champion twice," Cormier said of O'Malley on ESPN's SportsCenter. "Until there's a changeover, it'll be hard for Sean O'Malley to work his way back into a title opportunity, and he might find himself standing across from Umar Nurmagomedov. "It doesn't get easier for 'The Suga Show.' But Merab Dvalishvili really showed he is the cream of the crop at 135 pounds, and he did it better than before. He was more dominant than before, and he finished him. If Merab starts to finish guys, he is a real problem in the UFC." O'Malley knocked out Aljamain Sterling to claim the bantamweight title at UFC 292. He successfully defended his belt against Marlon Vera at UFC 299, before losing it to Dvalishvili at UFC 306.

UFC, PFL alum Chris Wade indicates retirement after 33-fight career
UFC, PFL alum Chris Wade indicates retirement after 33-fight career Chris Wade is at peace with his competitive career. An alumnus of the UFC and PFL, Wade (23-10) indicated he's done fighting in a Facebook post Monday. "There aren't many things in life harder than walking away from something you love," Wade wrote. "Something that became your identity, that provided adulation, dopamine, a sense of purpose. It's even a little more tough when you feel you are still very capable of being successful at the highest levels of the sport. I am making this post for all of my supporters who continue to nicely ask when my next fight will be. For a while my ego wouldn't let me detach myself from the possibility of getting back in the cage, but everyday that passes I am more at peace with the 13 year journey within the highest levels of Professional MMA." Wade, 37, hasn't competed since a split decision defeat to Gabriel Braga in August 2023. He was booked for a November 2023 bout, but it was canceled after he missed weight. Wade competed seven times in the UFC from August 2014 to July 2017 and went 5-2. He defeated the likes of Cain Carrizosa, Lipeng Zhang, Christos Giagos, and Mehdi Baghdad before losses to Rustam Khabilov and Islam Makhachev. Following his UFC release, Wade joined PFL where he'd finish out his career. He competed 18 times under the promotion's banner and went 11-7. Notable victories include Bubba Jenkins, Lance Palmer, Akhmed Aliev, and Kyle Bochniak. He also competed in the 2021 PFL featherweight world championship title match vs. Movlid Khaybulaev but came up short. Wade was never finished in his 33-fight pro career.
