Overview
Like the Crown sedan, the 2026 Toyota Crown Signia SUV is a luxurious vessel for quiet, anxiety-free motoring. All Crown Signia models are hybrid, powered by the same 243-hp four-cylinder electrified powertrain. Performance is average and handling is muted, but the Signia's target buyer is likely looking for comfort over sporting pretension. Inside, the Crown Signia offers premium materials and a contemporary design that puts Toyota's latest cabin tech at the driver's fingertips. A 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a host of driver assists are all standard. For the most premium experience, spring for the Limited trim, which comes with luxuries such as a JBL stereo, a panoramic glass roof, and heated rear seats. If you do, you'll find the top-spec Signia nearly aligned with luxury-badged SUVs such as the Lexus RX and the Lincoln Corsair.

The Crown Signia is offered in both XLE and Limited trim levels. Although it's several thousand dollars more expensive to start, the Limited is the one to get, as it adds a panoramic sunroof, 21-inch wheels, heated rear seats, and an 11-speaker JBL stereo system.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Crown Signia comes with an all-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain. It uses a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine and three electric motors. This produces a total of 243 horsepower, and a continuously variable automatic transmission is standard. This combination is not exactly exciting, and the engine can drone under hard acceleration, but the Crown Signia is quick enough for highway passing maneuvers in the real world. In our test drive of the Crown Signia, we found it to prioritize quiet and comfortable cruising over engaging handling, which is appropriate for this segment.

Properly equipped with a tow hitch, the Crown Signia can tow up to 2700 pounds. Rivals such as the Honda Passport and the Toyota 4Runner Hybrid are better options for those who need to tow heavier trailers.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 Crown Signia yet, but the 2025 model earned ratings of 39 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 38 mpg combined. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Crown Signia's interior is similar to the Crown sedan's, with nice materials and a pleasant-looking dashboard design. The standard upholstery is a combination of cloth and vinyl in the XLE model, but the Limited upgrades to leather seats. The two-row seating setup offers space for five passengers, and there's a generously sized cargo area that expands when you fold the rear seats. A panoramic sunroof is optional and makes for an airier feel, and both tan and black interior color options are available.

Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard across the board, as is a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The central touchscreen offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus many other connectivity features including Wi-Fi, over-the-air updates, and a voice assistant. The XLE trim comes with a six-speaker stereo but upgrading to the Limited swaps in an 11-speaker stereo tuned by JBL.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Most of Toyota's latest driver-assistance features are standard equipment on the Crown Signia. All models come equipped with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Building An ‘AI-First' Culture: What Does That Even Mean?
AI-first means people-first Lately, there's been no shortage of talk of managing organizations around 'AI-first' approaches, meaning managers would consider whether AI could do a job, or set of tasks, before humans are brought in. But AI-first goes deeper than that, suggesting an organization's entire culture can be redesigned to incorporate the broad intelligence solutions that AI platforms and tools can offer. How would such an organization look, and is this something a decades-old company could pull off? Cisco Systems, which was founded more than 40 years ago, has been undertaking such a transformation over the past three years across all aspects of its business. This includes transforming 'the way that we build product, the way that our products get used by customers, the way that we actually get jobs done within the company,' said Jeetu Patel, president and chief product officer for Cisco. Even in what is one of the most technology-savvy companies in the world, such an effort will meet resistance, Patel recently explained on a recent episode of Michael Krigsman's CXOTalk. 'It's a cultural shift. It's actually fraught with a level of skepticism." Still, 'If you looked at us a year and a half, two years ago, no one would have really said that Cisco is AI first,' he said. An issue being encountered is 'people have actually been afraid of AI, saying, 'Hey, AI's going to take my job, so I'm not going to go out and use it,' Patel added. 'I actually find that it's less about AI taking your job, it's more about someone that uses AI better than you in their jobs is probably the one who's going to take your job.' Ultimately, 'the dexterity that you need to show in the way in which you do everything with AI is going to be pretty important,' he said. 'We've always felt like there's only going to be two kinds of companies in the world. Ones that are dexterous with the use of AI, and others who really struggle for relevance.' There are three key considerations in building an AI-first culture, Patel explained: Customers are also part of the transformation to an AI-first culture. 'One area that we struggle with is that the pace and rate of change is so fast that communicating that to our customers and having them digest that change is a challenge,' said Patel. 'I don't think we've cracked the code on that.' Customers have a view of Cisco from more than three years back, 'and frankly, it's an entirely different company than what it used to be three years ago,' he added. 'I feel like there's so much coming at people all the time that you have to make sure that you distill it down to a few things that make sense.' For example, AI is accelerating the company's responses to support tickets. It also is helping to reduce overhead costs. On the sales side, AI will help accelerate sales meetings, as well as legal and accounting processes involved with the sale. 'All of those things will have AI as a pretty critical component of it, and I do feel like the sales process is going to change quite materially over the course of the next few years. And you will never be in this position where you go completely blind and unprepared into a conversation because AI can get you prepared within a very, very compressed amount of time on what needs to happen.' What's important now for the new generation that's entering the workforce – as well as existing workers – is not to operate out of fear of AI, Patel advised. 'You have to operate from a place of looking at the possibilities and looking at the opportunities that actually can be unlocked. I would urge people to just have a very different kind of mental model, which is, there's nothing that should stop us from actually being curious about how we might be able to use AI, and this technology is going to get easier and easier and easier, where no longer is technical dexterity going to be an impediment.'

SpaceX rockets keep exploding. Is that normal?
With yet another failed Starship test this week, in which the ambitious heavy rocket exploded once again, you might reasonably suspect that luck has finally run out for SpaceX. But this degree of failure during a development process isn't actually unusual, according to Wendy Whitman Cobb, a space policy expert with the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, especially when you're testing new space technology as complex as a large rocket. However, the Starship tests are meaningfully different from the slow, steady pace of development that we've come to expect from the space sector. 'The reason a lot of people perceive this to be unusual is that this is not the typical way that we have historically tested rockets,' Whitman Cobb says. Historically speaking, space agencies like NASA or legacy aerospace companies like United Launch Alliance (ULA) have taken their time with rocket development and have not tested until they were confident in a successful outcome. That's still the case today with major NASA projects like the development of the Space Launch System (SLS), which has now dragged on for over a decade. 'They will take as long as they need to to make sure that the rocket is going to work and that a launch is going to be successful,' Whitman Cobb says. 'This is not the typical way that we have historically tested rockets.' SpaceX has chosen a different path, in which it tests, fails, and iterates frequently. That process has been at the heart of its success, allowing the company to make developments like the reusable Falcon 9 rocket at a rapid pace. However, it also means frequent and very public failures, which have generated complaints about environmental damage in the local area around the launch site and have caused the company to butt heads with regulatory agencies. There are also significant concerns about the political ties of CEO Elon Musk to the Trump administration and his undemocratic influence over federal regulation of SpaceX's work. Even within the context of SpaceX's move-fast-and-break-things approach, though, the development of the Starship has appeared chaotic. Compared to the development of the Falcon 9 rocket, which had plenty of failures but a generally clear forward path from failing often to failing less and less as time went on, Starship has a much more spotty record. Previous development was more incremental, first demonstrating that the rocket was sound before moving onto more complex issues like reusability of the booster or first stage. The company didn't even attempt to save the booster of a Falcon 9 and reuse it until several years into testing. Starship isn't like that. 'They are trying to do everything at once with Starship,' Whitman Cobb says, as the company is trying to debut an entirely new rocket with new engines and make it reusable all at once. 'It really is a very difficult engineering challenge.' 'They are trying to do everything at once with Starship.' The Raptor engines that power the Starship are a particularly tough engineering nut to crack, as there are a lot of them — 33 per Starship, all clustered together — and they need to be able to perform the tricky feat of reigniting in space. The relighting of engines has been successful on some of the previous Starship test flights, but it has also been a point of failure. Why, then, is SpaceX pushing for so much, so fast? It's because Musk is laser-focused on getting to Mars. And while it would theoretically be possible to send a mission to Mars using existing rockets like the Falcon 9, the sheer volume of equipment, supplies, and people needed for a Mars mission has a very large mass. To make Mars missions even remotely affordable, you need to be able to move a lot of mass in one launch — hence the need for a much larger rocket like the Starship or NASA's SLS. NASA has previously been hedging its bets by developing its own heavy launch rocket as well as supporting the development of Starship. But with recent funding cuts, it's looking more and more likely that the SLS will get axed — leaving SpaceX as the only player in town to facilitate NASA's Mars plans. But there's still an awful lot of work to do to get Starship to a place where serious plans for crewed missions can even be made. 'There's no way that they're putting people on that right now.' Will a Starship test to Mars happen by 2026, with a crewed test to follow as soon as 2028, as Musk said this week he's aiming for? 'I think it's completely delusional,' Whitman Cobb says, pointing out that SpaceX has not appeared to be seriously considering issues like adding life support to the Starship or making concrete plans for Mars habitats, launch and landing pads, or infrastructure. 'I don't see SpaceX as putting its money where its mouth is,' Whitman Cobb says. 'If they do make the launch window next year, it's going to be uncrewed. There's no way that they're putting people on that right now. And I seriously doubt whether they will make it.' That doesn't mean Starship will never make it to Mars, of course. 'I believe SpaceX will engineer their way out of it. I believe their engineering is good enough that they will make Starship work,' Whitman Cobb says. But getting an uncrewed rocket to Mars within the next decade is a lot more realistic than next year. Putting people on the rocket, though, is another matter entirely. 'If they're looking to build a large-scale human settlement? That's decades,' Whitman Cobb says. 'I don't know that I will live to see that.'
