But Gen Z and Millennials can apply to get one totally free in an effort to encourage help with an important conservation effort.
The Amazon-owned firm is mostly associated with home security.
But it turns out hundreds of Ring users are using their cameras to monitor garden wildlife too.
In a fresh twist, Ring has teamed up with RSPB to support remote birdwatching in the UK.
Data from the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch survey shows that Starling numbers have dropped to their lowest recorded levels, while Song Thrush and Greenfinch populations have also experienced significant declines over the past 40 years.
"The decline of key British bird species like the Starling and Greenfinch highlights the urgent need for conservation efforts across the UK," said Emma Marsh, the RSPB's director of digital technology and communications.
"Remote birdwatching plays a crucial role in raising awareness and connecting people to nature, and every sighting contributes to our understanding and protection of these vital species."
A study suggests a growing interest in birds among younger generations, with a quarter (24 per cent) of under-35s planning to begin birdwatching.
So, Ring is giving away 50 video cameras to those aged between 18 and 35 years-old.
All you have to do is fill out a quick form and give a short 50 word reason why you want to birdwatch.
Ring introduces new doorbell security features
Those who have a Ring Home subscription and manage to capture footage of priority species - including Starlings, Song Thrushes, or Greenfinches - are encouraged to share their footage with the RSPB.
"Ring is best known for keeping neighbourhoods safer, but we're always impressed by how our devices can capture remarkable wildlife footage," said Dave Ward, Managing Director EU & International at Ring.
"We hope that collaborating with the RSPB will raise important awareness of declining bird species, while encouraging customers of all ages to enjoy the benefits of connecting with nature from wherever they are."

Sky calls for tougher action to address the problem STREAM OFF Amazon warns illegal streamers of hidden danger on 'dodgy' Fire Sticks used to watch Premier League games on the cheap AMAZON has warned Fire Stick users of the hidden dangers when using dodgy apps to illegally stream Premier League games and more on the cheap. A new report has pointed the finger at tech giants like Amazon for being "both friend and foe" in solving rampant piracy that's costing TV firms billions. Advertisement 2 Illegal streaming services often appear in adverts on social media Credit: Getty 2 Sky says illegal streaming is a 'serious issue' costing the industry billions Credit: Getty / AFP More than 50 per cent of Brits watching illegal streams on a physical device were found to be doing so via an Amazon product, according to research by Enders Analysis. Big broadcasters like Sky say Amazon isn't doing enough to address the issue. Nick Herm, Sky Group's chief operating officer said the report "highlights the significant scale and impact of piracy, particularly on premium live sport". "It's a serious issue for anyone who invests in creating and delivering world-class content," he explained to the BBC. Advertisement "We'd like to see faster, more joined-up action from major tech platforms and government to address the problem and help protect the UK creative industries." Amazon told The Sun it has made changes to its Fire TV devices to make it more difficult to stream pirated content. And it has on-device warnings to alert customers of the risks associated with sideloaded apps which are downloaded from outside the approved Amazon Appstore. Those risks are largely concerned with fraud. Advertisement There have been numerous cases of people looking to illegal streaming as a way to slash their TV bills, only to be left severely out of pocket. One victim recently revealed to The Sun how thousands was accessed from his bank account after signing up to one. Major Illegal Streaming Network Shut Down Across Europe Fortunately, his bank flagged it as fraud and stopped the payment, but not everyone has been so lucky. 'Pirated content violates our policies regarding intellectual property rights, and compromises the security and privacy of our customers," a spokesperson said. Advertisement "We work with industry partners and relevant authorities to combat piracy and protect customers from the risks associated with pirated content. "Our Appstore prohibits apps that infringe upon the rights of third parties and we warn customers of the risks associated with installing or using apps from unknown sources.' Elsewhere in the report, Facebook-owner Meta was accused of being a source of adverts for illegal streaming devices.

Get a free Samsung tablet, smartwatch and earbuds worth £600
Brits picking up a new handset from Samsung's Galaxy S25 series this month can get their hands on a free Galaxy Tab A9+, a Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro worth a combined £596 Samsung shoppers can get their hands on a tech bundle worth almost £600 this month in a mega summer giveaway. Everyone loves getting something for free, but we've found a way to get three things for free when upgrading to a new smartphone. For a limited time, Brits picking up a new device from Samsung's Galaxy S25 range can bag a free tablet, smart watch and earbuds worth a combined total of £596. The deal is available from Currys-owned retailer which is throwing in a free Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro with orders of the Galaxy S25, S25+ or S25 Ultra. On top of this, shoppers can head to the Samsung website after placing their order to claim a free Galaxy Tab A9+ worth £259. Our favourite deal among each of the handsets comes via iD Mobile's £24.99 per month plan, which comes with a 500GB data allowance for the price of 100GB. The 24-month has a £79 upfront and also comes with a six-month free trial of Google One AI Premium usually priced at £113.94. It's worth keeping in mind that iD Mobile – backed by the Three network – is among the many providers to increase its prices every April, with this plan set to rise to £26.49 from April 2026. Despite this, the total cost of the plan comes to £702.76 over the contract term. This is still cheaper than buying the phone from Samsung for £799 and only marginally more expensive than Amazon 's £699 asking price. Those opting for the S25+ can consider iD Mobile's £39.99 per month plan with £79 upfront, while the S25 Ultra is £44.99 per month with £119 upfront. has not specified an end date for the latest deals, only confirming they're live 'while stocks last'. One thing to note is that the smartwatch and earbuds included with the deal are separate from the tablet, with the two devices delivered with the handset to the address provided at the checkout. To also get the free tablet, shoppers must redeem a separate deal on the Samsung offers website after purchase, however, claims are only accepted on purchases made by June 26. While may not be at the front of shoppers' minds compared to bigger-name brands like EE and O2, it has earned stellar reviews from customers on Trustpilot. One five-star review says: 'My go-to. Seamless and such good deals to be had. I would not look anywhere else.' Another says: 'Fast and efficient. Great choice of phones and contracts at the best prices I could find after a comprehensive search of a large number of alternatives. Clear communication, and my phone was delivered on the day and time it was stated by the company. Everything about the experience was good.' This customer reported a more mixed experience, saying: 'Requested my number to be changed which never did and had to phone iD Mobile to put in a new request. The simplest of things so giving three stars. Rest of the service was good.' But this five-star review says: 'Such a simple and super quick process to upgrade to a new phone. Had an issue online but called the call centre and was resolved by a lovely and helpful lady, the new phone arrived the next day. They were cheaper than the network provider themselves.'

Gtech hedge trimmer is £70 off and makes gardening 'effortless'
Shoppers can save 31% on the Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer that's 'easy to use' and cuts hedges 'excellently' Gtech is offering shoppers more than 30% off a cordless hedge trimmer that's said to make gardening 'effortless'. The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer can be reduced from £219.99 to £149.99 with the discount code BX64. This saves £70 from the original price if ordering before July 31. The deal comes just in time for Brits looking to spruce up their shrubbery in time for summer, allowing them to maintain a sculpted garden or keep things tidy without it feeling like a chore. The cordless LHT50 is said to be Gtech's 'most effortless trimmer', designed for those tired of struggling with cables, heavy tools and step ladders. It's described as being 'super light' and 'surprisingly powerful', boasting the same motor as the original model yet a third lighter at 2.14kg. It can reach up to 10ft and has seven adjustable head positions, with a 140° rotating blade enabling easier sculpting of every part of a hedge from the top, sides and base. The trimmer has an 'ultra-sharp', 315mm carbon steel blade is capable of cutting even thicker hedges up to 14mm, while a safety switch can help avoid any nasty accidents. Despite being cable-free, the device can run for up to 60 minutes from a single charge of its removable battery pack, with its handy LED display showing the remaining power so you're never caught short. The Gtech LHT50 can be carried easily around any outdoor space with the included safety harness, which combines with an ergonomic design to ensure comfort during use – even during longer periods. For gardeners tackling larger hedge work, the new Bosch Advanced Electric Hedge Trimmer, £190, can cut thicker branches up to 34mm, but is not extendable. A cheaper alternative is the £170.99 Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Cordless Hedge Trimmer, however the battery and charger are not included with this tool and must be bought separately. The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer has earned an impressive 4.6-star rating after 838 reviews – 777 of which are four or five stars. Buyers have hailed it as 'easy to use' and 'perfect for any age group'. One satisfied shopper says: 'This is truly a lightweight hedge trimmer but with a heavy weight cutting action. I needed a lightweight trimmer to keep my daughter's hedge under control and the last one I used was very good but really hurt my back and arms. We had the hedge reduced in height but I found I still required a longer reach to cut the hedge as the width was still pretty large. This certainly fits the bill.' Another says: 'This lightweight hedge trimmer is perfect for any age group or those who have difficulty handling a heavier model. No awkward cables to get in the way or accidentally cut through so it is much safer than one with an electric cable. The battery charges easily and gives plenty of power to cut even a long hedge. Also, as it extends, often no ladder is required.' Despite hailing the LHT50 as 'perfect', this review points out that it may not suit every garden, saying: 'Perfect for small jobs for most people. Cannot cut thick stems but does [a] good job. Very light to use and good battery life.' This five-star review says: 'This light weight hedge trimmer is easy to use and handle. I'm in my 70's and had no problem using it at full stretch.' While another says: 'Fantastic. Highly recommend this product especially if your priority is lightness. [I] needed a hedge trimmer to replace a very heavy pole trimmer that is light yet could tackle a long holly hedge and a separate Leylandii hedge. This product is brilliant – very light but cut both hedges excellently. It also had a good charge life with two lights showing after one hour of use.' The Gtech LHT50 Lightweight Hedge Trimmer is available for £149.99 with the discount code BX64.
