Craig Bellamy wants Wales to ‘honour the shirt' by not swapping with opposition
Wales resume their bid to reach the 2026 World Cup finals this week with a double header at home to Liechtenstein and away to star-studded Belgium.
Taking on the Red Devils in their Brussels backyard is Wales' biggest test in Group J, but boss Bellamy believes the culture and mentality fostered since his appointment last July and the eight-game unbeaten run that has followed will stand Wales in good stead.
Bellamy insists Wales should not be considered underdogs – 'small footballing nations don't expect to qualify for World Cups, and we do' – and keeping hold of the jersey after the final whistle is among the pillars of his philosophy.
'You have to honour your shirt,' said Bellamy. 'The only time you give it up is when you lose your place and someone else takes it, but you've left it in a good place.
'That's a no-brainer to me and I believe the players love that as well.
'Our shirt is the most important shirt in football. We don't give that away, you can't give it away.'
Asked if not swapping shirts extended to Belgian midfield maestro De Bruyne, one of the Premier League's all-time greats at Manchester City, Bellamy replied: 'I don't think it is even worth having a conversation about.
'I don't need to answer that question. It's not going to happen.
'If I'm an aspiring young player then I want that (Wales) shirt. I see ours as the most important shirt, nobody else's.'
Wales opened their World Cup qualifying campaign in March with a 3-1 home victory over Kazakhstan and a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia.
David Brooks equalised with virtually the last kick in Skopje to protect Bellamy's unbeaten record after Wales won promotion to the top tier of the Nations League in the autumn.

Bellamy draws parallels with basic habits on the football field to a 1980s Hollywood martial arts drama success at the box office.
'Have you ever watched The Karate Kid?' said Bellamy.
'Does he do karate straight away? No – it's Mr Miyagi who decides.
'It's wax on, wax off. He paints the fence. He teaches him all these types of rules before he can do karate, so that he has the disciplines.
'It's about basics, habits. If you don't have that intensity without the ball, if your body language is poor and you're waving your hands, it's the wrong team for you. This is not your team.'

The German club are willing to sell the Slovenia international for the right price. And they have asked the Slovenian Football Association to omit Sesko from their friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday in a clear sign that a deal could be struck soon. The 22-year-old has lots of fans at Arsenal, who believe his performance stats are more impressive than Gyokeres', due to the higher level in the Bundesliga, compared to the Portuguese top flight. With Arsenal occupied by Benjamin Sesko currently, it is reported United have financially readied themselves to do a deal. Sancho stance Jadon Sancho has no intention of wearing Manchester United colours again per ESPN, despite Chelsea footing up £5m to avoid signing him on a permanent deal. And that stance matches that of his head coach, Ruben Amorim, though the pair have yet to work together. Sancho returned five goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, helping them win the Conference League. The winger failed to set the world alight at Stamford Bridge however, leaving interest in his signature uncertain. There is said to be tentative interest from West Ham in a deal but Sancho's wages are likely to prove problematic. The former Borussia Dortmund has another year left on his contract with United. Defender speaks on Man Utd desire Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier has admitted he would have loved to make a move to Manchester United. The Lille full-back, 33, has revealed he would quickly accept a transfer to the club if it was on the table. The Belgian international, who has one year remaining on his contract, also appears to accept that any chance of a deal is now gone. Meunir conceded a move to the 13-times Premier League champions could damage his affection for the club. Meunier told Gazet van Antwerpen: 'If they ever ask me, I'll cycle there [United]. But maybe it's better this way. "Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn't want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much. 'I went to watch them a few weeks ago, against Bilbao. In with the fans, singing fully. I am a real one. I go to watch them at least once every season. Thomas Tuchel unhappy with lack of quality in England win against Andorra

'We can just admit it that it's not what we expect from us and we need to do better,' the England boss added. 'We have to play until the 93rd minute. I didn't like the lack of urgency in the end,' he said. 'It did not match the occasion at all, it is still a qualifier away from home, I didn't like it at all. 'The players know all I said to you, because I said it in the dressing room, but it is also necessary to have a look in detail, watch the match again, and then we will let them know tomorrow what we want from them.' England captain Kane accepted it 'wasn't the greatest performance'. The Bayern Munich forward added: 'I don't think many people will remember this one but we can learn from it. 'It is very hot here, a dry pitch, probably similar conditions to maybe next year at the World Cup, so we will go away and analyse. 'We try and make excuses for England with the end of the season and it's been tough on the players,' the former Manchester United midfielder said on ITV1. 'I thought the first half was okay but when they scored the goal it felt it was job done. 'I was really disappointed with England's attitude after the goal went in. The manager can't be happy with that effort in the last half an hour. 'I felt like some of the players looked like they got bored in the last half an hour and I don't like to see that.'
