Bokaro: The town administration department of the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) management's decision to initiate eviction from several of its "unsafe" quarters is meeting with stiff opposition from residents. On Monday, several residents gathered in Sector-12F under the banner of Awas Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, raising slogans against the BSL management.
They alleged that the quarters deteriorated due to a lack of maintenance by the company over the years, not due to structural risks."We have been demanding repairs for the last four years but received only false assurances. Now, BSL management declared that many housing blocks are damaged and unsafe and is trying to forcibly vacate them. There are many repairable quarters here," said Mukesh Kumar, a resident. Many of the protesting families have lived in these quarters for over 30 years and are unwilling to vacate.BSL officials said the decision followed a structural integrity survey carried out by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC). The NBCC was roped in to assist with the repair and maintenance of township structures and conduct safety assessment. In the first phase of the survey, 161 blocks—comprising 1,000 quarters—were identified as unsafe. Of these, 19 are in Sector-6 and the remaining in Sector-12. According to the BSL Town Administration Department, it is now mandatory to vacate all homes in these blocks.BSL official Manikant Dhan, said that under the phased relocation plan, current BSL employees and retention case allottees will be relocated to safer housing blocks in the first phase. In the second phase, non-BSL residents and license allottees—many of whom are private individuals—will be removed. Further details regarding their transfer will be communicated soon, said officials. The residents, however, remain adamant, demanding a re-inspection of the quarters and warning of intensifying the protest if their demands are not met. "The quarters are being vacated in collusion with contractors and without genuine structural concerns," a protester alleged.BSL issued a warning stating that non-cooperation could lead to accidents for which the residents themselves would be held responsible. The management urged residents to cooperate with the process, clarifying that it would bear no liability for any mishap in case of non-compliance.This marks the first instance in Bokaro township where many residential blocks have been simultaneously declared unsafe.BSL sources said that BSL, along with NBCC, is all set to initiate a structural integrity survey of more than 280 blocks, this time in Sector 12, Sector 6, Sector 8, and Sector 11, in the second phase. This could increase the number of damaged blocks.

Iran says Pak vowed nuke-for-nuke if Israel attacks with nuclear weapon, Islamabad refutes

The claim was promptly rejected by Islamabad. 'Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, then Pakistan will also attack Israel with a nuclear bomb,' said General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior IRGC commander and member of Iran's National Security Council, on Iranian state television. Pakistan's Defence Minister, however, denied the statement, clarifying that no such assurance had been given. Although Islamabad has rejected any suggestion of nuclear retaliation, it has openly expressed support for Iran in its broader confrontation with Israel. Following the attack on Tehran, Pakistan pledged to 'stand behind Iran' and called on Muslim nations to unite against Israel. On 14 June, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told the National Assembly that the Muslim world must come together against Israel or risk suffering the same fate as Iran and Palestine. 'Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If Muslim nations don't unite now, each will face the same fate,' Asif said. He also urged Muslim countries with diplomatic ties to Israel to sever those relations and called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene a meeting and formulate a joint strategy against Israel. Israel's policy of nuclear ambiguity Israel maintains a policy of nuclear ambiguity—neither confirming nor denying the possession of nuclear weapons. Nevertheless, it is widely believed to possess a nuclear arsenal, supported by a doctrine focused on deterrence and counter-proliferation to prevent adversaries from acquiring similar capabilities. Iran, by contrast, insists that its nuclear programme is intended solely for peaceful purposes, such as energy production and medical research. As a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Tehran has repeatedly claimed it does not seek nuclear weapons. However, Western countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have raised concerns over Iran's high-level uranium enrichment, its ballistic missile programme, and its lack of full transparency in nuclear activities—suggesting possible military dimensions. Will Pakistan nuke Israel? Islamabad denies Iranian commander's claim

A senior Iranian official has stirred global alarm over the weekend by claiming that Pakistan would retaliate with a nuclear strike on Israel if Iran is targeted with atomic weapons. The statement, which appeared to draw Pakistan into a hypothetical nuclear escalation, was quickly rejected by Islamabad. Pakistan emphasised that no such assurance had been given and reaffirmed the country's longstanding policy of strategic restraint. General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a member of Iran's National Security Council, made the claim during a broadcast on Iranian state television. 'Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, then Pakistan will also attack Israel with a nuclear bomb,' said Rezaei. On June 14, addressing Pakistan's National Assembly, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said, 'Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If Muslim nations don't unite now, each will face the same fate,' he said, as quoted by Turkiye Today. He further urged Muslim-majority countries with diplomatic relations with Israel to reconsider their ties and pushed for an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop a unified strategy. Nuclear policies under scrutiny The latest tensions have brought renewed focus to the nuclear stances of Israel and Iran. Israel follows a policy of nuclear ambiguity — neither confirming nor denying it has nuclear weapons. Still, it is widely believed to have a strong arsenal aimed at deterring regional threats. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes like energy and medicine. As a Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) signatory, it denies pursuing nuclear weapons.
