NBA Trade Idea Gives Warriors' Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler New All-Star Teammate
NBA Trade Idea Gives Warriors' Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler New All-Star Teammate originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Golden State Warriors made a blockbuster trade in February, acquiring six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Advertisement The Butler trade saved the Warriors' season. Golden State acquired Butler on Feb. 6. The team lost to the Los Angeles Lakers that night, dropping their record to 25-26. The Warriors went on a major run after Butler made his Dubs debut, going 23-7. Golden State finished the season as the seventh seed in the Western Conference and faced the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Behind Butler and Steph Curry, the Warriors beat the Rockets in seven games. However, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Golden State in the second round in five games. Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 and missed the rest of the series. Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry (right) and Jimmy Butler get a new center in this NBA trade idea. Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Many people believe Curry and Butler need another All-Star scorer next to them to compete for the championship next season, which is why Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Warriors trade for Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic this offseason. Advertisement Bailey proposed the Dubs trade Moses Moody and Buddy Hield to the Bulls for Vucevic, the No. 45 pick in this year's draft and a 2028 second-round pick. "For the Warriors, this is a bit of a desperation move, since Vucevic is 34 and on an expiring contract," Bailey wrote. "His long-term value is nowhere near Moody's (hence, Chicago's inclusion of some draft capital). "But they were woefully thin at the 5 in 2024-25. And even at this age, Vuc is a starting center who can pass, space the floor and fit into Golden State's read-and-react system." Vucevic is a two-time All-Star. He averaged 18.5 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Bulls this season while shooting 53.0% from the field, 40.2% from 3 and 80.5% from the foul line. Advertisement The 34-year-old Vucevic will make $21.5 million next season in the final year of his contract. Vucevic has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Bulls. He has career averages of 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds. Former NBA Star's On-Court Encounter With Fans Ends With Police Involved
Former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins found himself at the center of an altercation with fans that evoked memories of the so-called "Malice at the Palace" that occurred more than 25 years ago. The incident went down Monday during a Puerto Rico basketball league game. Cousins, 34, is playing with the Guaynabo Mets. At some point in the fourth quarter, the former Sacramento Kings center got into a verbal altercation with a fan sitting courtside. The fan was gesturing "cry baby" at Cousins, who clearly took offense. Cousins grabbed his crotch, prompting the fan to flip him the bird. Cousins pushed the fan's hands down, and that's when the altercation turned physical, as more fans rushed in to the fan's aid and Cousins' teammates stepped in to prevent things from getting even more out of control. The former University of Kentucky star ultimately was ejected from the game, but he didn't leave quietly. As he was being escorted by security and police, Cousins got into another skirmish with fans, who threw drinks at the agitated center. Police and security had to physically restrain Cousins and some fans, too. Cousins last played in the NBA in the 2021-22 season. He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Kings. He averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game over the course of 11 seasons. He first joined the Mets in 2023 before briefly played in Taiwan and Mongolia. He returned to the Mets this season. Cousins' altercation with fans reminded basketball fans of the infamous November 2004 incident at The Palace of Auburn Hills, where members of the Indiana Pacers -- primarily a then-known Ron Artest -- got into a melee with Detroit Pistons fans. The violent brawl led to numerous suspensions and it forever left a stain on the NBA. Former NBA Star's On-Court Encounter With Fans Ends With Police Involved first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 10, 2025

The Nets Could Acquire Zion Williamson For A Package The Pelicans Would Immediately Accept
The Nets Could Acquire Zion Williamson For A Package The Pelicans Would Immediately Accept originally appeared on Fadeaway World. A bold trade idea making the rounds proposes that the Brooklyn Nets could acquire former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a promising package of assets. The trade goes as follows: Brooklyn Nets Receive: Zion Williamson New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Nicolas Claxton, Cameron Johnson, 2025 No. 19 pick, 2025 No. 26 pick On paper, this may look like a lot for a player with a checkered injury history, but the deeper you go, the more it makes sense for both sides, particularly the Pelicans. Zion Williamson's time in New Orleans has been a rollercoaster of potential, disappointment, and medical reports. Since being drafted first overall in 2019, Zion has played just 214 games across six seasons. The sheer lack of availability has handcuffed the franchise's ability to build consistent chemistry or playoff momentum. Despite this, Zion has put up career averages of 24.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, shooting an efficient 58.9% from the field and 32.7% from three. The talent is undeniable, but the reliability is not. The proposed return for the Pelicans is actually quite impressive when you consider the risk Zion poses moving forward. Nicolas Claxton is a highly respected young center, coming off a strong year where he continued to improve defensively and showed flashes of growth as a rim-runner and shot-blocker. Cameron Johnson, meanwhile, is one of the league's most efficient 3-and-D wings, capable of stretching the floor with elite shooting and holding his own on the perimeter. He's also under contract, providing the Pelicans with a valuable asset on a reasonable deal. Add to that two first-round picks in the upcoming 2025 Draft, including the No. 19 and No. 26 selections, and it's a deal the Pelicans should jump at, especially with their current direction under new leadership looking more like a retool than a championship push. For Brooklyn, this is a gamble. A massive one. But it's also the kind of gamble that franchises in their position often need to make. The Nets are sitting on cap space and draft capital. With no superstar on the roster and a clear void post-Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, taking a swing at a franchise-changing talent like Zion could spark a new era. If Zion stays healthy, a massive if, he could be the face of the franchise, a walking highlight reel capable of averaging 25+ points per night on elite efficiency. He still has three years left on his contract, giving the Nets time to build around him and assess his long-term viability. And with a low-pressure environment in Brooklyn and better sports science staff, Zion may finally get the consistent care and structure he needs. The cost, Claxton, Johnson, and two mid-to-late first-round picks, is steep. But it's a fair price for a player who, despite all the setbacks, still possesses superstar upside. If he hits, Brooklyn might just pull off one of the most transformative trades of the decade. This trade is a clear win for the Pelicans, who would gain two quality starters and a pair of first-round picks while moving on from Zion's injury-plagued tenure. For the Nets, it's a high-risk, high-reward swing. If Zion stays healthy, they could land a generational talent at a discount. But if the injuries persist, Brooklyn could end up empty-handed after giving up key assets. It's a big gamble, but one that might be worth the story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jun 10, 2025, where it first appeared.
