Drew Barrymore reveals who was her best on-screen kiss, says it's more than 'hot, sexual chemistry'
While Drew Barrymore has had her share of on-screen kisses with various actors throughout her career, there's only one person who tops the list.
During an appearance on Wednesday's episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Barrymore opened up about her chemistry with longtime friend Adam Sandler and explained why their onscreen love connection goes beyond goes beyond "sexual chemistry."
"I mean, I love that Adam Sandler and I are so platonic," said Barrymore, who has starred alongside the veteran actor in "The Wedding Singer" (1998), "50 First Dates" (2004), and "Blended" (2014). "We never dated, his wife Jackie is my dear friend."
"But I love being in films with him, because I think we're representing something bigger than hot, sexual chemistry. We're representing true admiration of another person," she added.
In 2022, Barrymore welcomed Sandler, whom she introduced as "the best cinematic soulmate and partner" on the Drewbar segment of "The Drew Barrymore Show."
During the segment, the duo chatted about their history together and possibly joining forces again to make another film.
The actress also talked about wanting to do another movie with Sandler on an episode of the "Chicks in the Office" podcast in 2022.
"I want to do another movie with Sandler," Barrymore said on the podcast. "We've done it every 10 years, and it's about to be 10 years."
"I think that would make me so happy," the actress added.

One YouTube video, titled "1 MINUTE AGO: Adam Sandler Testifies In Court On Day 14 Of Diddy Trial," had more than 374,000 views at the time of this writing. The rumor also appeared on Facebook (archived), X (archived) and TikTok (archived) and Snopes readers searched our site to find out if it was true. However, the claim that Sandler testified against Combs in the music mogul's criminal trial was false. Court reports from entertainment and news outlets on May 30 — day 13 of the trial, when video narrations in the above posts said Sandler testified — made no mention of the actor. Sandler also did not feature in Getty Images photos or court sketches on this date. Day 14 of the trial, when some video titles and descriptions said the testimony took place, was on June 2, 2025, several days after the videos were published. A Google search also produced no evidence that Sandler testified at the trial. Snopes reached out to representatives for Sandler to ask if the actor had or would testify in the trial against Combs. We await their reply. The claim spread via numerous (archived) YouTube videos labeled "Altered or synthetic content." The videos also included disclaimers that they were for "entertainment and educational purposes only," both indicators that the content was fictional. One video (archived) that did not include the "altered or synthetic content" label (but did include the "entertainment and educational purposes only" disclaimer) falsely credited its claims to Inner City Press, an outlet that covers the Southern District Court of New York where Combs' trial was being held. This is not the first time we have debunked a claim falsely attributed to Inner City Press. We previously fact-checked its involvement in false reports that Usher had testified at Combs' trial. Combs faces multiple charges that include racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Released in 1996, the original Happy Gilmore served as one of Sandler's breakout movies. It arrived hot on the heels of his back-to-school comedy Billy Madison and shortly before megahits The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Big Daddy and Little Nicky cemented his status as Hollywood's most bankable leading man. A sequel has long been talked about but never materialised. However, Sandler's recent partnership with streaming giant Netflix not only made him the highest paid actor in show business, but also paved the way for him to return to one of his most enduring and quotable characters. Get excited, Happy Gilmore fans - Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the comedy's sequel, showing Sandler easing right back into playing his beloved character. This time, he needs to win enough competitions to pay for his daughter's pricey ballet school aspirations. Production on the sequel officially started in September 2024 with Netflix and Sandler sharing a picture of a familiar hockey jersey. 'It ain't over. Happy Gilmore has a familiar reason for heading back out on the fairway 30 years on as he has yet more bills to pay to keep his family happy. The first Happy Gilmore saw Sandler play a failed hockey player who finds that his skills could be put to better use on the golfing green. When his grandmother's house is put at risk, he enters a professional golfing championship with plans to use the prize money to secure her future but in doing so he must beat smug pro-golfer McGavin. Throughout the movie, he receives training from his one-handed coach Chubbs and gets into a fight with former The Price is Right host Bob Barker. Now, an older Happy is feeling the pressure of helping his teenage daughter realise her own sporting dreams. She's set on attending ballet school, but with the bill coming in at an eye-watering $300,000, Happy needs to dig out his clubs and win some contests. He'll run into friends and foes old and new as he does his best to support those he loves. Of course, there's also time for a few scenes with the likes of Rory McIlroy, too. Sandler will reprise his role in Happy Gilmore 2 as Happy, while Christopher McDonald will return as Happy's pro-golfer enemy Shooter McGavin. Modern Family star Julie Bowen, who played Happy's love interest Virginia Venit, will also be back. Ben Stiller will return as nursing home orderly Hal. Newcomers to the Happy Gilmore 2 cast will include American football star Travis Kelce, musician Bad Bunny, The Substance star Margaret Qualley, comedian Nick Swardson and Uncut Gems co-director Benny Sadie. Sandler told The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon: 'We have a nice something for Travis. He's gonna come by. He's a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He's a stud and he's so funny.' In a separate chat with IndieWire, he said: 'And by the way, Benny [Safdie] is in Happy Gilmore 2 and he's going to have a juicy part in that. The actor, who will reprise his role as the titular former hockey player-turned-golfer, also has hinted at several special guest stars who may appear in the sequel film. Christopher McDonald, who played antagonist Shooter McGavin in the 1996 original film, first teased word of a sequel.
