Araghchi: Continuing negotiations with US unjustified in light of Zionist aggression

Tehran – Saba: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed on Saturday that the continuation of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, given the Zionist entity's continued brutality and aggression against Iran, is "unjustified." During a phone call with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaya Kalla, Araghchi said that the Zionist entity's hostile actions toward Iran are the result of Washington's direct support for the entity, according to Fars News Agency. He called for a decisive global response and international condemnation of the Zionist aggression, given its violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the attacks on nuclear facilities and residential areas that led to the martyrdom of a number of military figures, university professors, Iranian women, and children. During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister criticized the recent resolution of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors on Iran's peaceful nuclear program, which was submitted with the participation of three European countries and the United States and adopted at the Board of Governors meeting last Thursday. He described it as a pretext and basis for the Zionist regime's hostile actions against Iranian nuclear facilities. He emphasized that attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities are "completely illegal and prohibited under international law," adding, "The international community is obligated to hold the Zionist regime accountable for this grave and unprecedented violation of the law." Araghchi called on the European Union and the permanent members of the Security Council to take a responsible stance in condemning these attacks and holding the aggressor accountable. He also noted Iran's diplomatic initiatives to draw the world's attention to the dangers posed by the Zionist regime's destabilizing actions. He said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has responded firmly to the Zionist regime's aggression in order to protect its national sovereignty, its people, and its security, and it is determined to exercise its legitimate right to take countermeasures."
