AI-generated video of overflowing river falsely linked to Myanmar floods
"Myawaddy Road, Karen State. Several vehicles were damaged due to the landslide. June 1, 2025, 4:30 pm," reads a Burmese-language Facebook post on June 1, 2025. The video -- which has racked up more than 3.3 million views -- shows a river raging through a mountain pass highway with vehicles and people stranded along the muddied banks. The Myawaddy Road is a major trade route connecting Myanmar to neighbouring Thailand, which has often been closed off in the ongoing civil war -- sparked by a military coup that deposed Myanmar's civilian leadership in 2021 (archived links here and here). Image Screenshot of a false Facebook post taken on June 9, 2025 The video circulated after local media reported flooding in northern Myanmar along the Irrawaddy river basin following persistent heavy rainfall in early June (archived link). It also surfaced elsewhere on Facebook in Burmese posts as well as on TikTok. However, the video was fabricated using AI. A reverse image search on Google found an identical TikTok video published on May 28, 2025 with an "AI-generated" label (archived link). Checks of the same TikTok account showed it has repeatedly shared AI-generated videos of natural disasters (archived links here and here). Image Screenshot comparison of the false Facebook post (L) and the original TikTok video Joao Tourinho, who runs the TikTok account that posted the video, told AFP on June 10 that he created the video using the Hailuo AI tool, a text-to-video generation software. "I regret that people use content that is declared to be created by AI to spread false information," he said. "My YouTube channel and TikTok profile show that all of my creations are for those who enjoy apocalyptic entertainment created by AI." A close inspection of the clip also shows visual inconsistencies typical of AI-generated videos, such as oddly-shaped vehicles, cars merging into one another and a damaged white car suddenly appearing in the scene. Image Visual inconsistencies highlighted by AFP Although generative AI technology is improving rapidly, visual inconsistencies persist and are the best way to identify fabricated content. Cat Deeley takes style notes from Rochelle Humes with ‘classy' co-ord
Next fans have praised the 'beautiful' co-ord, with many saying the set earned them plenty of compliments The This Morning presenters are an endless fountain of fashion inspiration - so much so it appears they're even turning to each other for style notes. It comes as Cat Deeley has stepped out in a 'classy' and 'beautiful' co-ord this morning, from fellow presenter Rochelle Humes' edit with high-street retailer, Next. The 48-year-old wore the Brown Glossy Satin Polka Dot Maxi Skirt and matching Brown Glossy Satin Polka Dot Halter Top for Thursday's episode, with the matching pieces giving the illusion of a maxi dress. Shoppers have been heaping praise on the two-piece, saying it's earned them 'lots of compliments' - and it's not hard to see why. Chocolate polka dots are a timeless trend, with the print being a mainstay in the wardrobes of royalty. Kate Middleton has been spotted in similar dotty designs over the years, so we're at no risk of it ever going out of style. You only have to glance at the likes of ASOS or Nobody's Child to prove it, with both fashion favourites currently flooded with similar patterns. The Next skirt has earned much praise from shoppers, with one five star review reading: 'The quality of the material is stunning it hangs lovely and I love polka dots. Little bit expensive but it will never age.' The skirt comes in at £50, but as the customer mentioned above, it's an investment piece that will be worn for years to come. It's available in regular or petite sizing, featuring pleated detailing and a smooth satin fabric, finished with an elasticated wide waistband for a comfortable fit. 'Beautiful skirt and really comfortable,' said a second shopper. ' Very classy in my opinion. The colours are lovely and there's a matching top available. Perfect for tall women.' However, it may not be ideal for those who prefer a low maintenance look, with one review complaining it needed to be ironed. They said: 'I absolutely loved the colour and fit of the skirt but it creased so badly.' Another glowing review penned: 'Beautiful skirt, which is lovely quality. A great length for me (5ft 9 height) Got lots of compliments wearing the outfit, along with matching top.' Like many of the Next shoppers, Cat wore the skirt with the matching top, which is a little more affordable at £32. Made from a soft satin fabric with an all-over polka dot print, it's finished with a tie fastening and is perfect for summer styling. This has also received much praise from fans. 'Love this top.. so comfy and classy,' said one. 'Sizing is perfect. Bought this and the matching skirt. I really love it and yet it's a colour I wouldn't normally go for. Got great compliments when wearing it.' One way to get a similar look is the Brown Polka Dot Bandeau Felicity Midi Dress from Nobody's Child, priced at £99. A semi-fitted style, the bandeau number comes with removable spaghetti straps, meaning shoppers can choose if they want to wear it strapless. Styled by Rachael Hughes, Cat opted to let her Next co-ord do all the talking, pairing it with a simple, cream heel. On the site, Rochelle, modelling the outfit, also plumed for a neutral heel, with a cutout design and slingback. Rochelle's collection, which launched a few weeks back, is made up of timeless linen fabrics, colourful fitted co-ords and some suitable summer knits for the UK's unpredictable climes. It's been incredibly popular with shoppers who adore her clean, minimalistic aesthetic, and can now count Cat Deeley as a fan, too. With not one, but two celebrity endorsements, I predict this co-ord is likely to sell out before the weekend. For those wanting to get their hands on it, it can be found on the Next website here.

JoJo Siwa hits back after her idol Miley Cyrus caused outrage with post about her sexuality and controversial romance with Chris Hughes
JoJo Siwa has responded to Miley Cyrus ' post about her romance with Chris Hughes, admitting that the comment was not 'what the world, or myself needs to hear anyday of the week.' Miley ignited outrage earlier this week after she joked about JoJo's sexuality amid the dancer's newfound relationship with Love Island star Chris. The Party in the USA singer parked backlash after she poked fun at 22-year-old JoJo's romance with Chris, 32, while appearing in a video message shared at World Pride over the weekend. Speaking from inside a closet, Miley said: 'Oh, my God, I haven't been in here since sixth grade! Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you,' she continued. 'It shouldn't be a month - it should be a year; it should be infinite.' Wrapping up the video, Miley added with a laugh: 'I'm going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.' JoJo has now insisted that it is 'all love' between herself and her idol Miley but admits that hearing judgement from 'someone you love, and look up to can be very hard.' Sharing photos of herself as a child when she had a Miley-themed birthday party, alongside snaps with the popstar herself, JoJo wrote a passionate message. 'I was happy at my 5th birthday having a Miley themed party, and I'm still happy now at 22… If you know me, you know that miley is my day 1, grew up beyond inspired by her from 2 years old on…' She added that she had taken some time to process Miley's words, telling fans: 'I wasn't sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I've started to come to some thoughts…. I don't believe what Miley said at world pride was ill intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha.' 'Not what the world, or myself needs to hear anyday of the week. I messaged miley light heartedly about it and she replied and said 'All love. Always . ❤️❤️❤️.' 'Honestly the most beautiful thing I've learned in the last 5 years is that love is a gorgeous rainbow. Don't question yourself, don't second guess yourself, just love.' 'Love love love love love.❤️ People judge no matter what, and it can be very hard, especially when it comes from someone you love, and look up to…' 'But if you feel happy and content with yourself, that's most important. You get one life… hold onto it, make it yours, find your happy, and love.' JoJo recently confessed during an episode of Celebrity Big Brother - where she met Chris - that she previously identified as a lesbian, but now identifies as a queer woman. While Miley's gag was met with cheers and applause at the Washington D.C. festival, it failed to land online, with many social media users blasting Miley over the 'unnecessary' dig. She told fans: 'I was happy at my 5th birthday having a Miley themed party, and I'm still happy now at 22… If you know me, you know that miley is my day 1' Taking to X, one asked: 'Can ya'll just let bi people exist?' 'I adore Miley, but this isn't OK,' another said. 'JoJo never went back into the closet, SHE'S STILL QUEER! 'Again, JoJo being with Chris doesn't erase or change her attraction to women. Pride month should be about celebrating all members of the LGBT+ community, not about making jibes like this.' Echoing a similar sentiment, a third added: 'Publicly shaming a young woman exploring her sexuality is abhorrent not just Miley, but all of yall posting "jokes."' 'It should be studied how she gets away with being awful and not a girls girl,' wrote someone else. A fifth user posted: 'Mature enough to admit this was unnecessary.' 'This isn't even remotely funny,' said another. JoJo and Chris, who both appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK in April, finally confirmed that they were dating last week following weeks of frenzied speculation. While starring on the reality show, JoJo opened up about her sexuality and her journey. She said at the time: 'I've always told myself I'm a lesbian, but I think being here, I've realized, "Oh no, I'm not a lesbian, I'm queer." I think that's really cool. I'm switching letters.' Later, while speaking to Us Weekly, the former Dance Moms personality said she thought the statement wouldn't make it to television. 'That was one of those conversations actually that I was having that I was like, "This will never see the light of day,"' she said. 'I don't mind that it did, because I actually think it starts a very beautiful conversation of queer. I think queer joy is so special and so magical.' JoJo went on to reject putting her sexuality 'in a box.'
