Aberdeen seal Scottish Cup title after penalty drama
Aberdeen won their first Scottish Cup title since 1990, defeating Celtic 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.Scorers: Schmeichel (own goal) 83'; Dorrington (own goal) 39'
Aberdeen held firm for the opening 30 minutes, sitting deep and allowing Celtic plenty of possession, before Greg Taylor drilled a rising shot just over the crossbar.
Just before half time, Celtic broke through the Dons' rearguard and Cameron Carter-Vickers' glancing header was deflected into the net by Alfie Dorrington.
Celtic kept pushing for a decisive second as Arne Engels' thumping strike crashed off the post and Taylor's stinging effort flew narrowly over the bar.
However, Aberdeen levelled late on after Schmeichel failed to deal with Shayden Morris' low cross and the Celtic goalkeeper sent the ball into his own net - sending the game into extra time.
Both sides had chances in extra time, with Dante Polvara volleying over the crossbar from 10 yards out and Celtic substitute Jeffery Schlupp rattling the crossbar from a fierce strike.
The game was eventually settled on penalties and Dimitar Mitov made the final save, keeping out Alistair Johnston's spot-kick to seal the cup for Aberdeen.

Fabrizio Romano Confirms ‘Discussions' with Liverpool Star Over Summer Exit
Andy Robertson's Liverpool Future Uncertain as Atletico Madrid Make Their Move As the summer transfer window picks up pace, uncertainty surrounds the future of Liverpool stalwart Andy Robertson. The Scotland captain, who has been a pillar of consistency since his arrival at Anfield in 2017, is now the subject of serious interest from Atletico Madrid. According to a detailed report by Fabrizio Romano, the 31-year-old left-back is open to a potential switch to LaLiga, although no decision will be made imminently. Atletico Madrid Eye Robertson Deal Atletico Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone, have made Robertson their top left-back target. The Spanish side are believed to be confident in their chances of landing the defender for a modest fee, with The Times' Paul Joyce stating that a bid of just €5 million (£4.2 million) could be enough to tempt Liverpool into talks. If they fail in their pursuit, Aston Villa's Lucas Digne is understood to be their fallback option. Advertisement Romano revealed that 'discussions have already commenced' between Robertson's representatives and Atletico, but stressed that 'at this stage of the summer window, Andy Robertson has made no decisions on his future yet'. The player, Romano adds, 'will take a break and discuss everything with Liverpool, having great relations with the club and full respect'. No Rush for a Decision Robertson's stance is one of patience and respect. Despite the swirling speculation, he will not rush a decision. Instead, the former Hull City man will take time off with his family following an intense season in which he made 55 appearances for club and country. Advertisement Romano's update reinforces the impression that Robertson is not actively forcing a move. Rather, he appears to be weighing his options carefully and maintaining open lines of communication with the club. 'No talks on the fee will happen until player decides on options,' Romano reiterated in his social media post. Photo: IMAGO What Comes Next for Liverpool's Left Side? Liverpool's reported move for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez has added a new layer to the situation. The Hungarian youngster is seen as a long-term replacement on the left flank, and his arrival could spark a reshuffle. Initially, it was thought Kostas Tsimikas would be the one to depart, given his lack of regular game time, but the tide now appears to be shifting towards Robertson. Advertisement If Robertson leaves, Tsimikas could remain as backup, although youngster Owen Beck may also be considered for that role. Arne Slot will need to weigh experience against potential as he plans for a second campaign in charge after a stunning Premier League title-winning debut season. Liverpool's Modern Icon Deserves Respectful Departure Should Robertson decide his Liverpool journey has come to an end, there is little doubt he would leave with immense credit. His performances, leadership and character have embodied Liverpool's values under both Jürgen Klopp and now Arne Slot. There would be no animosity from the club or the fans if he were to seek a new challenge abroad. Romano's reporting gives a clear picture of a player handling his future with dignity and caution. Unlike other recent departures which stirred controversy, Robertson appears set to make his decision with full transparency and the club's best interests in mind. Our View – Anfield Index Analysis This is a gut punch we all saw coming but hoped to avoid. Andy Robertson isn't just a player, he's a symbol of what Liverpool became under Klopp: gritty, relentless and totally committed. To hear that Atletico Madrid are circling, and worse still, that we might accept a paltry £4.2 million for him, feels like the beginning of the end of an era. Advertisement Let's be clear. Kerkez might be talented, but he hasn't played a game for us yet. Slot may have worked wonders last season, but losing leaders like Robbo is a gamble, especially when Tsimikas has never truly stepped up. And Beck? He's promising, yes, but trusting a title-challenging campaign to youth is a huge risk. Robertson should be going out on his own terms, but we'd rather he didn't go at all. He still has legs, passion and an understanding of what it means to play for this club. If this is his last summer in red, we'd want it to be a celebration, not a clearance sale. There's a sadness in the way this is drifting towards an exit, and fans deserve clarity sooner rather than later.

Thomson joins Kilmarnock after leaving Queen's Park
Kilmarnock have signed an "ambitious player with great ability" in midfielder Jack Thomson, says manager Stuart Kettlewell. The 25-year-old has joined the Rugby Park side on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Queen's Park, where he played more than 130 games. Advertisement The Rangers youth product, who signed a pre-contract with the Ayrshire club in January, says the move was a "natural step" for him. "The club's got a lot of history," Thomson added. "The team is always competitive, competing at a really good level. It just felt like a natural step from where I've been. "My conversations with the manager have been really positive. When I saw he was announced, I was excited. "You speak to the people you know in football and try to find out as much as you can and everything that was said about the manager was really positive. Advertisement "And then obviously speaking to him, I have the exact same impression. So I can't wait to get on the pitch and be working with him." And manager Kettlewell, a fellow former Queen's Park player, said: "Jack is a player I've inherited and I'm delighted that's the case. He is an ambitious player with great ability and I'm confident he will fit right into our squad."

All you need to know about Scotland's T20 tri-series
Off the back of four one-day internationals against the Netherlands and Nepal, Scotland travel from Dundee to Glasgow for four T20 internationals against the same opposition. Having won two of their four outings in the longer format, Richie Berrington's side will be keen to find some consistency. Advertisement Here is everything you need to know about the tri-series at Clydesdale Cricket Club. Who's in the Scotland squad? Essex seamer Mackenzie Jones could make his T20 international debut having made his ODI bow in Dundee, while Chris Greaves and Chris McBride are added to the squad having missed out on the recent ODIs. County players, such as Lancashire's Michael Jones, Sussex's Brad Currie and Somerset's Andrew Umeed, are not included. Cricket Scotland said: "Several players not included in the squads were considered for selection but were not available due to work, personal circumstances or county commitments." Advertisement Scotland squad: Richie Berrington (capt), Matthew Cross, Jasper Davidson, Chris Greaves, Jack Jarvis, Mackenzie Jones, Michael Leask, Charlie Cassell, Chris McBride, Finlay McCreath, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Liam Naylor, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt. What are these matches for? The main purpose of this series is to provide much-needed practice before Scotland travel to the Netherlands for the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in July. Two teams will qualify from the five-team tournament, which also features Italy, Guernsey and Jersey. The Scots last played official matches in this format when Australia visited last summer, having impressed at the T20 World Cup earlier in 2024. How good are Nepal & Netherlands? Scotland are the best side of the three, based solely on the ICC Men's T20 world rankings which have Scotland 13th, the Dutch 14th and Nepal 18th. Advertisement The truth is somewhat harder to gauge, given the lack of matches played by associate members in this format. In the recent Cricket World Cup League 2 series played between the three teams, the matches were tightly contested in the main, showcasing the magnificent cricket associate members have to offer. Nepal and Scotland played out two thrilling matches that went down to the final over in Dundee, winning one each, while the Netherlands bounced back from three straight defeats to chase down Scotland's 369 in the final match of the series. Players to look out for George Munsey and Brandon McMullen are Scotland's two best top-order batters and both have international hundreds in 2025. Advertisement Left-handed opener Munsey smashed 191 off 150 balls against the Netherlands on Thursday - Scotland's record score in ODIs - while Safyaan Sharif became his country's all-time leading wicket taker in the same match. Captain Richie Berrington continues to defy his age with the bat and will be playing on his home ground at Clydesdale. With the ball, 20-year-old Jones could be handed more opportunities given the strugglers of other Scotland seamers recently and Currie's absence. He impressed in his first Scotland appearance, taking 3-55 in the two-run win over Nepal. Liam Naylor and Chris McBride have both been standout performers in Scottish club cricket for RH Corstorphine and Carlton, respectively, and will want to force their way into the side before next month's qualifier.
