'You won't see': Pentagon shows new footage to counter reports that strikes achieved nothing

Time of India3 hours ago

Pentagon releases new footage to explain how the strikes on Iran nuclear facilities took place.
The Pentagon offered new explanations for Operation Midnight Hammer, denying claims that they were nothing and little damage was made to the three Iranian nuclear facilities -- as much as they can be rebuilt in a few weeks or months.
Defense secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Dan Caine released new footage of how the bombers attack and said unlike a normal bomb, the damage created by this bomb can't be seen on the surface level as they are designed to deeply bury and then function.
'A bomb has three effects that causes damage: blast, fragmentation and overpressure. In this case, the primary kill mechanisms in the mission space was a mix of overpressure and blast,' Gen Caine added.
Hegseth attached the media for questioning the success of the operation and said media can't cheer for Trump -- after CNN reported a 'top secret' preliminary US intelligence analysis that claimed that there was not much damage to the nuclear facilities. "Searching for scandals, you miss historic moments like recruiting at the Pentagon, historic levels in the Army, the Air Force and the Navy," Hegseth, who was sidelined by President Donald Trump, ahead of the operation, said.

Caine offered insights into two Defense Threat Reduction Agency officers who studied the subterranean nuclear plant at Fordow for 15 years to plan the strikes and the crews who flew the B-2 bombers. He said all the bombs released at Fordow hit their intended speed, targets and functioned as designed. And he laid out the intricacy of a mission that used vents in the plant to deliver six weapons. And he showed video of a test showing the lethality of a bunker-busting bomb.
Pentagon showed testing videos claiming that the strikes on Iranian nuclear plants were successful.
Unlike a normal surface bomb, an impact crater can't be seen in MOP (Massive Ordnance Penetrator) crashing into a target, Pentagon said.
Khamanei confirms what US media reported: Achieved nothing
Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed that the US strikes on three sites did not achieve anything, and Trump exaggerated their impact. 'Anyone who heard his remarks could tell there was a different reality behind his words — they could do nothing,' Khamanei said

‘About the worst': US defense Secy Pete Hegseth rips former Fox News colleague over Iran question

Pete Hegseth (AP) and Jennifer Griffin (She said podcast) US defense secretary Pete Hegseth ripped Fox News reporter and his former colleague Jennifer Griffin on Thursday, saying she has 'been about the worst' in the media when it comes to reporting on the American bombings of multiple Iranian nuclear sites. Addressing the press briefing organised by the Pentagon on Operation Midnight Hunter, Hegseth said Griffin was arguably the most high-profile journalist to 'misrepresent what the President says' regarding the operation. The remarks came after Griffin, Fox News' chief national security correspondent, who has been with the channel for over 25-years, questioned Hegseth about how effective the strikes had been and whether he was certain that highly enriched uranium was present at the Fordow nuclear facility during the US strike, noting that satellite images had captured trucks at the site two days earlier. 'Do you have certainty that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordow Mountain?' Griffin asked. 'Are you certain none of that highly enriched uranium was moved?' Hegseth, a former Fox & Friends co-host, seemed visibly irritated by the question, prompting his sharp response. "Of course, we're watching every single aspect. But, Jennifer, you've been about the worst. The one who misrepresents the most, intentionally, what the president says." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo In response to Hegseth's remarks, Griffin stood by her reporting on Fordow, stating she was the first to accurately detail the B-2 bombers, their midair refueling, and the overall mission, adding, 'so I take issue with that.' He is not the first member of the Trump administration to attack and discredit the media on the questions over the effectiveness of Iran strikes. After a leaked initial assessment by the Pentagon's defence intelligence agency, suggested that US strikes last week on Iran's nuclear sites may have left core components of facilities largely intact, and that Iran's nuclear program has essentially only been set back by months rather than 'obliterated.' President Trump himself expressed frustration with media outlets like CNN and The New York Times for questioning the success of the operation, labeling them 'scum' for their coverage. Other members of his administration, including Marco Rubio, Tulsi Gabbard, and John Ratclif have dismissed the report as false, with Gabbard stating that U.S. intelligence confirms the sites were 'destroyed.'

RSS demands Congress apology over Emergency: Seeks removal of ‘socialist' and ‘secular' from Preamble; asserts not part of Constitution earlier

RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale (ANI) NEW DELHI: The RSS on Thursday urged a review of the words 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Constitution's preamble, citing they were added during the Emergency and not included in the Constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar. RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabole was addressing an event marking 50 years of the Emergency and said, 'Babasaheb Ambedkar never used these words in the preamble of the Constitution. The words were added during the Emergency, when fundamental rights were suspended, Parliament did not function, and the judiciary became lame." He said that discussions were previously held on this issue, but no concrete outcome was achieved regarding the removal of these words. "So whether they should remain in the preamble should be considered,' said Hosabole. Taking a jab at the Congress, Hosable demanded an apology for the excesses committed during the Emergency era which witnessed large-scale forced sterilisation, incarceration of people, and the curtailment of the freedom of judiciary and press, he recalled. "Those who did such things are today moving around with Constitution's copy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Oldest Stars Who Are Still Alive And Often Forgotten Boite A Scoop Undo They have still not apologised... Earlier on Tuesday, union home minister Amit Shah had called the Emergency which was imposed on June 25, 1975, a 'dark chapter' and said that the 'nation never bows down to dictatorship'. Shah asserted that the Modi government has decided to observe June 25 as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' annually across the nation. The Emergency had altered key elements such as the Preamble and the Constitution, weakening the Judiciary and suspending democratic rights, Shah had said. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday had passed a resolution denouncing the Emergency imposed by former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The Cabinet held a meeting chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi and observed a two minute silence as a 'tribute to those whose constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights were taken away and who were then subjected to unimaginable horrors.'
