'Because of Elon Musk's actions..': Tesla sued in France over brand becoming 'extreme right'; labeled as 'swasti-car'
About 10 Tesla customers in France are suing the Elon Musk-led company, because they consider the vehicles to be "extreme-right" symbols. The legal action, announced by the GKA law firm on Wednesday, argues that the plaintiffs have suffered "direct and concrete" harm due to the connection between Tesla vehicles and "Elon Musk's actions". The plaintiffs are seeking contract termination and legal expense reimbursement through the Paris commercial court. This legal challenge emerges as Tesla's European Union sales have decreased by nearly 50% since 2024 began, largely attributed to Musk's political involvement, including his previous alignment with US President Donald Trump and his role in reducing American governmental departments. Musk's public endorsement of Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and his controversial arm gesture, which historians have interpreted as resembling a Nazi salute, have further complicated matters. "Because of Elon Musk's actions... Tesla branded vehicles have become strong political symbols and now appear to be veritable extreme-right 'totems', to the dismay of those who acquired them with the sole aim of possessing an innovative and ecological vehicle," GKA said in a statement. The typical lease agreements span four years, including a purchase option upon completion. Tesla cars in Europe and other regions have increasingly become targets of vandalism, with some owners saying they've been insulted for driving what's been nicknamed a "swasti-car" on social media. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? French Tesla Customers Sue Brand Over Becoming 'Extreme Right'
Around 10 French clients with leases on Teslas are suing the US carmaker, run by Elon Musk, because they consider the vehicles to be "extreme-right" symbols, the law firm representing them said on Wednesday. They feel they suffered "direct and concrete" damage from the way Teslas are now associated with "Elon Musk's actions", the GKA law firm said. They are demanding the Paris commercial court order their lease contracts be terminated and legal costs reimbursed, it said in a statement, signed by lawyers Patrick Klugman and Ivan Terel. The lawsuit comes as Tesla sales in the European Union have almost halved since the beginning of the year, a slump attributed to Musk's political activities. Those activities include him -- until last week -- standing firmly with US President Donald Trump, and overseeing efforts to cut down US departments and agencies. He has also lent public support to Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, and came under criticism for making a repeated gesture with an out-thrust arm interpreted by many historians to be a Nazi salute. "Because of Elon Musk's actions... Tesla branded vehicles have become strong political symbols and now appear to be veritable extreme-right 'totems', to the dismay of those who acquired them with the sole aim of possessing an innovative and ecological vehicle," GKA said in a statement. The perception of the Teslas they leased "prevents them from fully enjoying their car", it said. Most of the leases run for four years, with an option at the end to buy the vehicle. Tesla cars in Europe and elsewhere have been targeted by vandals, with some drivers reporting they have been insulted for using what is sometimes called on social media a "swasti-car". Several owners have taken to putting stickers on their Teslas reading "I bought this before Elon went crazy". "The situation is both unexpected and impossible for French Tesla owners," Klugman told AFP. "Musk's political positions have interrupted enjoyment" of the vehicles, and "we believe that Mr Musk owes these buyers the peaceful possession of the thing sold", he said. Contacted by AFP for comment, Tesla did not immediately respond.

Qatar, Hamas Plotted To Sabotage Trump's 2020 Mideast Peace Deal: Report
Top Qatari officials and Hamas leaders conspired to derail US President Donald Trump's 2020 'Peace To Prosperity' deal, his first administration's flagship Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative, according to a report by Israel's Channel 12. The explosive revelations come from a trove of documents allegedly recovered by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in Gaza. One such document talks about an emergency meeting held in June 2019 between Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and senior Hamas leaders, including Khaled Mashal, the former chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau. "We must work together to oppose and eliminate the 'deal of the century,'" Mashal said during the meeting, according to the recovered documents. Six months later, Qatar's then-foreign minister Mahammed bin Hamad al Thani sent a message to then-Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, saying, "The Qatari grants are Hamas's main artery." The documents further allege that Hamas, with Qatari backing, worked to push Egypt out of its mediating role in Gaza. "The Egyptians were attempting to restrain the escalation and we caused them to leave the picture with empty hands," said Yahya Sinwar in May 2021, when he was the Hamas leader in Gaza. "In their place, the Qataris came, and we gave them an opportunity to dictate the fruits of diplomacy." Yahya Sinwar was killed in October 2024 during fighting with the IDF. Other documents reportedly show Hamas leaders being grateful toward Qatar for facilitating their travel to Tehran for the funeral of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike on January 3, 2020. "Thank you to Qatari brothers who agreed to fly us," Haniyeh wrote to Qatari leadership in a note dated January 7, 2020. Ismail Haniyeh, the former head of the Hamas Political Bureau, was killed by an Israeli airstrike last year in Tehran during the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. His body was flown to Qatar and buried in Lusail. The Qatari government has denied the materials in the documents as "fabricated" and accused Israeli media of attempting to undermine diplomatic efforts. The statement said that such tactics had been used before "by those who want diplomacy to fail." Donald Trump's 2020 'Peace To Prosperity' plan aimed to solve the Israel-Palestine conflict by creating a Palestinian state alongside Israel. It gave Israel full control over Jerusalem and allowed it to keep major West Bank settlements. Palestinians were offered some parts of East Jerusalem as their capital and a promise of $50 billion in global investment to improve their economy. In return, they had to reject violence and accept Israel as a Jewish state. Palestinian refugees would not be allowed to return to Israel but could be given money or settle elsewhere. Israel supported the plan, but Palestinian leaders rejected it, saying it was unfair and favoured Israel too much.
