UAE condemns "terrorist" attack in Colorado
The UAE on Monday condemned the "terrorist attack" in the US state of Colorado, which injured eight people during a rally calling for the return of Israeli hostages from Gaza. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these "criminal and terrorist acts" and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and targeting innocent people. The Ministry expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured and reaffirmed the UAE's solidarity with the government and people of the United States. A 45-year-old man threw incendiary devices at demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado- injuring eight people between the ages of 52 and 88 years. At least one of them was in a critical condition, authorities said. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said it appeared to be "a hate crime given the group that was targeted". The attack took place on the Pearl Street Mall, a popular pedestrian shopping district in the shadow of the University of Colorado, during an event organised by Run for Their Lives, an organisation devoted to drawing attention to the hostages seized in the aftermath of Hamas' 2023 attack on Israel.
