Delhi police bust sextortion, cyber fraud rackets
NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have busted sextortion and cyber fraud rackets spanning across multiple states and arrested six people in the case. A money trail of over Rs 5 crore has been identified by different teams of Crime Branch.
DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam said, 'On May 24, a tip-off was received regarding the movement of a consignment suspected to contain synthetic bank account kits in the New Ashok Nagar area being used in various high-tech crimes.' An operation was carried out in which three people in possession of the consignment were arrested.
Later, a raid was conducted at an illegal call centre in Mundka involved in fraudulent bank loan schemes, and seven people were apprehended. The modus operandi of the call centre was to defraud people by offering fake bank loans. During the probe, another raid was conducted in New Ashok Nagar, where four other suspects were apprehended and an organised sextortion racket was busted. Further investigation into the matter is on.

‘Corruption significant barrier in country's growth': Court awards 4-year jail to traffic cop for bribe worth Rs 3,000
Observing that 'corruption is one of the most significant barriers in the growth of the country', a court here has sentenced a Delhi Traffic Police officer, who is just a year short of his retirement, to four years in prison for taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a driver. 'Corruption is one of the most significant barriers in the growth of the country. The PC (prevention of corruption) act was formulated to bring about transparency and honesty in public life and to combat corruption in government departments,' said Special Judge Deepali Sharma of Rouse Avenue Court in her order dated June 6. Assistant Sub Inspector Yatender Kumar, who was posted at Delhi Traffic Police booth, Pul Mithai Chowk, at the time of the incident was convicted on June 4 under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act for 'demanding and obtaining gratification other than legal remuneration' (bribes) from a man in lieu of releasing his impounded vehicle in September 2022. During arguments on his sentence, his counsel had argued for leniency, citing his age of 59 years. The fact that he was the sole bread earner of his family was also stated as were his 'clean antecedents'. The prosecution, however, said that Kumar's acts could not be 'trivialised'. It was also argued that corruption is a menace to society, which needs to be eradicated 'to restore the faith of people in good governance'. '…the convict has been stated to have clean antecedents and the prosecution has not shown any previous criminal record of the convict. Convict is about 59 years of age and has a wife to support, being sole bread earner of his family. Considering the circumstances in entirety, the convict has been awarded the minimum sentence as provided under Section 7 and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988,' said Judge Sharma while awarding a four-year jail term to Kumar. The maximum punishment possible under the PC Act is seven years of imprisonment.

In Maharashtra, the alliance secured over 79% of assembly seats, reaffirming its grip over India's industrial powerhouse. In Haryana, the BJP achieved the unprecedented feat of forming the government for a third consecutive term. Perhaps the most symbolic breakthrough came in Delhi, where the BJP returned to power after 27 years, ending decades of politics built on populism, freebies, and false promises. These victories were not isolated regional wins; they were united national endorsements for Modi's leadership, fought in his name and sealed by the people's Modi 3.0 government has also demonstrated political strength by passing some of the most contentious bills in recent history with absolute authority and without disruption in both Houses of Parliament. Previous regimes merely exploited the caste census as a cynical vote-bank tool; this government seized it as a powerful instrument for data-driven governance, evidence-based policymaking, and true social empowerment, boldly moving beyond divisive politics.A major step towards long-term reform came when the Cabinet approved the long-pending One Nation, One Election proposal. This reform, long overdue, promises to eliminate policy stagnation, reduce election costs, and ensure smoother governance nationwide. Only a government with political will and a long-term vision could push this internal security story is no less remarkable. But PM Modi 3.0 emerges as a resounding mandate for a stronger, bolder, rising Bharat has proven otherwise, emerging as a more assertive, far-reaching, and visionary phase of leadership. IIT Madras Awards Degrees to 867 Students in First 4-Year BS Degree Cohort
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) held its Convocation and Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 8 June 2025 for students enrolled in its BS Degree Programmes. The event marked the graduation of the first batch of students completing the 4-year BS Degrees in Data Science and Applications and Electronic than 38,000 students from across India and abroad are currently enrolled in these programmes, with over 52% pursuing the degree alongside another undergraduate flexible and accessible model of the BS programmes aims to make quality education available to all, regardless of age, background, or location.
