Special times for this new Fresno State commit as he reunites with mom after one year

There were some happy faces this week for Jayon Farrar and his mom.
The Ventura College wideout was recruited by Fresno State offensive coordinator Josh Davis. Farrar told him a lot about himself and what he brings to the field.
Farrar, listed at 6-foot, said Davis was very interested in him after their long talk.
The next morning, Davis called Farrar and offered him a full-ride scholarship on his birthday on Jan. 5. Davis invited Farrar for an official visit on Jan. 7 with his mom, who hasn't been on a plane since before 9/11.
Farrar said his mom, Patricia Farrar, was working in one of the World Trade Center towers on the 14th floor when the two airplanes collided into both towers.
She made it out before the building collapsed.
Ever since, she had not gotten on a plane until Farrar made his official visit to Fresno State this week. She flew in from New Jersey for her son's special occasion.
'From the very first conversation, it felt like I had known the coaching staff my entire life,' Farrar said. 'They truly understand their athletes, not just as players but as individuals, and the amount of support they provide is unmatched.
'And seeing the way they took care of my mom and treated her as she was family was big for me, and that made the decision an easy one.'
Farrar made his commitment on Friday and was ecstatic to reunite with his mom after a long year while he was in Southern California.
He said it was worth the wait.
'It was amazing,' he said. 'It was big for my mom because she was a 9/11 survivor and getting on a plane was a really big thing for her to overcome. And due to JUCO ball I haven't seen her in a year, so it's really big for me as well to see her. I see her have fun with the coaching staff, and the hospitality that they've shown her was out of this world.'
Farrar finished with 47 receptions for 542 yards and a team-leading nine touchdowns for Ventura.
He played for former Fresno State assistant Steve Mooshagian, who also played for the Bulldogs.
Farrar said he knows a lot about Fresno State. His favorite NFL receiver is Davante Adams.
'I've been watching him since I was a kid,' Farrar said. 'Knowing this program helped shape him into the player he is today feels like a dream come true.
'I believe I bring a lot to the table as a player. I have explosive speed, reliable hands, and the ability to make defenders miss in open space. I can create something out of nothing and pride myself on being an explosive kick returner as well. Whether it's returning kicks, making tackles on special teams, or making plays as a receiver, I'm ready to do whatever I can to help Fresno State win.'
