Chido Obi lands 'special prize' at La Tournoi

Away from the Club World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup and European Under-21 championships, there are a few other football tournaments going on.
The prestigious Under-20 Tournoi Maurice Revello concluded in France yesterday, with the host nation beating Saudi Arabia in Sunday's final.

Manchester United striker Chido Obi missed out on the main prizes as Denmark finished third in the competition and France's Steve Ngoura won the player of the tournament.
However, Chido's two goals in the group stage were enough for him to win the organiser's 'Special Award', which is pretty good for a 17-year-old.
United boss Ruben Amorim wasn't expecting Chido to make the progress he did last season, which is why he wasn't picked in the Europa League squad for the knockout rounds when it was submitted in February.
Chido ended up making eight senior appearances, seven as a substitute - and while he didn't score then, he did find the net on the post-season trip to Hong Kong.
With United determined to strengthen their striking department, it will be fascinating to see what 2025-26 has in store for the former Arsenal youngster.

The hospitalised players and staff reportedly consumed packed lunches on their chartered flights, which are presently thought to be responsible for the outbreak of food poisoning. Salernitana have sent the remains of the food to be analysed and have also informed Genoa police, so that the appropriate investigations may be carried out. Serie B play-out second leg at risk Salernitana have also confirmed that they had already requested to postpone the second-leg tie against Sampdoria, currently scheduled for Friday, June 20. Sampdoria, meanwhile, will be back in training to prepare for the return fixture, giving them the opportunity to redeem themselves in the eyes of their fans. Tottenham inquire about Roma's Niccolo Pisilli

Premier League side Tottenham have asked Roma about the potential signing of Niccolo Pisilli. According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW, Tottenham inquired and received information about Roma's Niccolo Pisilli recently. Advertisement Following the appointment of Thomas Frank from Brentford as their new manager, Spurs are assessing opportunities across the transfer market, and there was a strong interest in Pisilli. The 20-year-old, however, has turned down any kind of offers. Tottenham's interest in the player died down quickly after it began following Pisilli's decision. Pisilli starred for Italy U-21 last night in the 1-0 victory over Slovakia. He feels that he has a long way to go in the Italian capital with the Giallorossi, and therefore, he is not looking to move away anytime soon from the club. Pisilli made 41 appearances across all competitions last season with Roma, scoring thrice and assisting once. With age on his side, he is expected to develop more this upcoming season and possibly attract more interest from Premier League outfits. Trambak Bhattacherjee | GIFN

Northampton re-sign experienced midfielder Jacobs

Northampton Town have re-signed midfielder Michael Jacobs following his release by Chesterfield. The 33-year-old began his career with the Cobblers and made 100 appearances for the club in all competitions before moving to Derby County in 2012. Advertisement He has agreed a one-year contract, which also includes what the club describe as "various options" and is their fifth summer signing following Jack Perkins, Jack Burroughs, Kamarai Swyer and goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons. "We think he can be very good for us, not only in his own right but as a player who the other lads in the squad can learn from and we certainly feel they will benefit from his presence and his experience," said boss Kevin Nolan. Jacobs has been a member of four promotion-winning teams during his career, three of them from League One - twice with Wigan and once with Wolves. He made 25 appearances for Chesterfield last term, the final two in their League Two play-off semi-final against Walsall, which they lost 4-1 on aggregate.
