First of two men charged with murder in 2021 Seekonk fatal shooting found guilty
The first of two Rehoboth men who were charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 66-year-old man in Seekonk in 2021 was found guilty last week, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced.
A Fall River Superior Court jury found 24-year-old Christopher Heron guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Seekonk resident Joseph Housely Sr. on June 18, the district attorney's office said in a press release.
Joseph Housely Jr., also 24, faces the same charge in connection with his father's death, the district attorney's office said. He is set to be tried in September.
Authorities began investigating Housley Sr.'s death after Seekonk police responded to a report of gunfire at 101 Forsyth Circle shortly after 9:50 p.m. on July 6, 2021, the district attorney's office said previously. At the scene, they found Housley Sr. with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. He was later declared dead.
A Bristol County grand jury indicted Housley Jr. and Heron in connection with Housley Sr.'s death in September 2022, the district attorney's office said. Heron is scheduled to be sentenced on June 27.

Mass. man accused of manufacturing pills for ‘high-level drug trafficking scheme'
A Medford man was arrested earlier this month in connection with manufacturing counterfeit pills as part of a "high-level drug trafficking scheme," the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said. John Dinius, 30, was charged with trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws, the district attorney's office said in a press release. His arrest was part of a joint investigation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency with the goal of disrupting large-scale drug distribution efforts in Middlesex County. Following a two-month-long investigation, federal, state and local law enforcement officers executed a search warrant in a Medford home on June 10, the district attorney's office said. The search was focused on the basement of an apartment in which they discovered illicit drugs, counterfeit drugs and a pill press that can be used to make imitation prescription pills. During the search, they seized 571 grams of counterfeit Xanax, 1,454 grams of a different type of counterfeit Xanax, 466 grams of counterfeit Adderall, 80 grams of cocaine, 138 grams of crystal meth, 18 grams of oxycodone pills and a mechanically-operated pill press, the district attorney's office said. Dinius is alleged to have been manufacturing the counterfeit pills out of illegal drugs such as meth, the district attorney's office said. The counterfeit pills were made to look like prescription drugs, but field testing revealed that they all contained meth. Dinius was arraigned on the drug charges in Somerville District Court and ordered held on $75,000 bail, the district attorney's office said. He is due back in court on July 10 for a probable cause hearing. 1 killed in Beverly plane crash Thursday morning
Editor's note: This story was updated at 10:38 a.m. on June 19 with further information on the plane crash. One person was killed and another person was hurt after a small plane crashed on the roadway in Beverly on Thursday morning. The plane crashed at around 7:45 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The plane was a Mooney M20, and two people were aboard at the time. The fatal crash happened next to Beverly Regional Airport, near 106 Sam Fonzo Dr., according to reports from WCVB and 7News. The small plane came to a rest on the industrial park roadway against a utility pole, and debris was spread through the trees and across the street. One person was dead at the scene — trapped inside the plane — and another was brought to the hospital, the outlets said. The incident is under investigation by troopers with the Essex County District Attorney's office, along with the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The Beverly police and fire departments and Massport did not immediately respond to MassLive for comment. Man arrested in connection with ‘exposing himself and performing lewd act' on Mass. beach
Carver police arrested a Marion man over the weekend who they say exposed himself at a town beach. John Senna, 36, pleaded not guilty to a charge of open and gross lewdness during his arraignment in Wareham District Court on Monday, according to court records. On Friday, June 20, around 5:40 p.m., Carver police received a report that a man had exposed himself and performed 'a lewd act' at the Sampson Pond beach on Lakeview Street, the police department said in a press release. Officers responded to the area, but soon learned that the suspect had fled. Carver police then issued an alert to nearby law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect, the police department said. Within 25 minutes, Marion police located and identified him as Senna. Carver police obtained an arrest warrant for Senna and arrested him Saturday morning, the police department said. He was released on personal recognizance bail during his arraignment on the condition that he stay away from Sampson Pond beach, according to court records. Senna is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 10, court records indicate. No further information about the incident has been released.
