Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was on the microphone with the broadcast booth during the fifth inning. During his appearance, he made a major personal announcement that, fittingly, happened on Father's Day.
In a post shared on X by Dodgers Nation, Kershaw revealed on ESPN's broadcast that he and his wife, Ellen Kershaw, are expecting their fifth child.
"We had a gender reveal today," Kershaw said. "My wife's got number five coming. We got another girl coming. We got book-end girls to go with our three boys. So, today was a very special Father's Day for us. It always is."
The major personal news Kershaw revealed came on Father's Day, a very fitting day to reveal he's going to be the father of another child. The 37-year-old has played in the Major Leagues for 18 seasons, and throughout his entire MLB career, since becoming a father, Father's Day holds a special place in his heart.

"Anytime you can have your kids on the field..." Kershaw said. "I've gotten to bring my older two sons are out a little bit more, Charlie and Cooper, so it's been, it's just been such a blessing. The Dodgers letting families be around, letting the boys be around, has been really fun for me and our boys. It's been awesome."

The Dodgers allowed players to bring their children onto the field for Father's Day, and that, combined with Kershaw's fifth child having a gender reveal, meant this year's Father's Day was extra special.
Kershaw is a Dodgers legend and one of the best pitchers in team history. Throughout his illustrious 18-year career, Kershaw has built up a family and made his mark on the franchise.

Through six starts for the Dodgers in his 18th season, Kershaw has a 3.25 ERA and 20 strikeouts. While he isn't pitching as much as he used to, his presence has helped the Dodgers stay atop the National League West.
This announcement from Kershaw came at the perfect time, falling on Father's Day, and sharing it on ESPN's live broadcast. Kershaw announced that he and his wife are expecting a fifth child, and that it'll be their second daughter.

Uncovering Real Reason Todd Bowles Is On Buccaneers Hot Seat

Uncovering Real Reason Todd Bowles Is On Buccaneers Hot Seat originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the playoffs each year since Bruce Arians retired as head coach. That is a testament to the job Todd Bowles has done since taking over for the Super Bowl winner. Bowles' 27-24 record is nothing to shrug about. In the last three seasons, he has kept the Buccaneers as a perennial playoff contender. Advertisement That is no longer good enough, though. Tampa Bay has one of the best offenses in the league and a defense with plenty of talent at each level. It's no longer good enough to get to 10 wins and feel good about a Wild Card victory. The Buccaneers are good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. For that reason, Bowles is on the hot seat now. His career only shows a bigger reason why he may not be the right man for the job. In the last two seasons, the Buccaneers have seen their offensive coordinator/play-caller find head coaching jobs elsewhere. Because of Bowles' background as a defensive-minded coach, Tampa Bay will have to continue to recycle offensive coaches whenever they do a good enough job. Advertisement Therein lies the difficulty of hiring non-offensive play-callers for head coaching jobs. The more quarterback Baker Mayfield excels with a different play-caller, the more obvious it is that Tampa Bay needs to find a quality head coach who won't bring instability on that side of the ball. If a team is going to rely on a defensive-minded head coach, it needs to make sure it excels with multiple playoff wins per year. Think of coaches like Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills, Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles, or Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions. None of those coaches calls plays on offense, forcing the team to recycle its play-caller. However, each coach has reached the conference championship. Bowles has not. Advertisement If Tampa's coach wants to prove he deserves his current job, he'll need to get past the team's previous history of good-but-not-great seasons over the last few years. His job may depend on it this year. Mets Announce Pete Alonso, Juan Soto News After Third Straight Loss

Mets Announce Pete Alonso, Juan Soto News After Third Straight Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Mets are looking to rebound from their first series sweep of the season after dropping the latest set against the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite two strong shutout performances from the pitching staff earlier in the week, New York struggled to maintain consistency, and the offense seemed out of sync at the plate. Advertisement Right fielder Juan Soto and first baseman Pete Alonso both cooled off during the series, combining for just three hits over the three games. Soto, in particular, struck out multiple times in key moments, and Alonso's power was noticeably absent. However, despite the weekend's struggles, both players have fueled New York's success in recent weeks. Mets right fielder Juan Soto (22) celebrates with first baseman Pete Carchietta-Imagn Images On Monday, the Mets celebrated a shining moment: Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto all emerged as frontrunners in the initial All-Star ballot returns. Lindor leads his respective position, but Alonso and Soto each trail at least one other player. The team took to social media to capture their excitement about the news: Advertisement "ALL-STAR BALLOT UPDATE Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto are amongst the leaders for their positions!" the Mets announced on X. Throughout the 2025 season, Alonso has been elite. He's hit 17 home runs and leads the National League with 63 RBIs, and is on his way to potentially earning his fourth All-Star appearance. Soto has also shown flashes of his MVP-caliber form, reaching 13 home runs and 36 RBIs this campaign. With Monday off, the Mets will turn their sights to a big Tuesday matchup in Atlanta against the Braves. They'll look to regain form and recapture their offensive rhythm—leaning on their All-Star trio to lead the way. Red Sox Urged to Trade for Brewers' Rhys Hoskins ‘Right Now' Amid Rafael Devers Trade

Red Sox Urged to Trade for Brewers' Rhys Hoskins 'Right Now' Amid Rafael Devers Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After the Boston Red Sox traded away superstar designated hitter Rafael Devers, there are a lot of questions left for the Red Sox front office. With the team sitting above .500 and in range of a Wild Card spot, the team shouldn't be in rebuild or selling mode. They should instead be trying to acquire MLB talent to contribute to a postseason run. Advertisement With all of the money freed up from the Devers trade, there are plenty of paths Craig Breslow and the front office can take. One MLB executive believes they should swing a deal for Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins. According to an article from Mark Feinsand of a National League MLB executive urged the Red Sox to acquire Hoskins to shift the narrative on the Devers deal. "'What the general public never factors in their knee-jerk trade reactions in what the teams trading away the large contract can now go do with those dollars,' and an NL executive said," Feinsand reported. "Boston should go and trade for someone like [Brewers first baseman] Rhys Hoskins right now. Then the deal takes on a whole new dimension." Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (12) hits a single in the fourth inning against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Stratman-Imagn Images If Boston did use some of the money on Hoskins, while it wouldn't negate the negative feelings from the fanbase over that decision, it would help soften the blow of losing the final player from the 2018 World Series squad. Advertisement Hoskins is currently under contract for $18 million in 2025 and has a mutual option of $18 million for the 2026 season. The Red Sox could offer an extension and move off Triston Casas permanently, or they could use him for just one year, and let Hoskins walk after the 2025 season for a new payday. Whatever the Red Sox could do with Hoskins, they'd be getting a great slugging hitter on their roster. In 2025, Hoskins had 56 hits, 23 runs scored, nine doubles, 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, 30 walks, and 73 strikeouts in 229 at-bats. The Brewers' slugging first baseman is a player the Red Sox need, and he's also likely to become available if the Brewers begin to lose games in the build-up to the MLB trade deadline. From the perspective of an MLB executive, adding someone like Hoskins with the freed-up money from the Devers trade should be something the Red Sox do "right now." Not only would it add offensive firepower, but it'd also help justify the deal and help round out a roster with plenty of question marks following Devers' departure.
