SI exam paper leak: HC fines petitioner over ‘wrong facts'

Jaipur: A single judge bench of
Rajasthan High Court
dismissed a petition Thursday seeking quashing of an FIR against a man accused of buying the leaked sub-inspector 2021 exam paper for Rs 15 lakh and providing it to his woman friend.
The court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner for presenting "wrong facts" before the court.
The bench of Justice Sameer Jain issued this order while hearing a petition filed by Purshottam Dadhich, an assistant accounts officer in the medical and health department. The petitioner stated that the Special Operation Group (SOG) investigating the SI exam paper leak case of 2021 did not name him in the FIR. However, during the investigation, it was claimed that the petitioner purchased the leaked examination paper for Rs 15 lakh and later gave it to his woman friend.
He said he was declared an absconder, and standing warrants were issued against him by the trial court. Additionally, the SOG announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on him. The petitioner claimed that he attempted to surrender before the trial court, but his attempt was not entertained.
However, the special public prosecutor, Anurag Sharma, representing the SOG, objected to this claim. He said, "If he ever attempted to surrender, why has the petitioner in the present petition failed to present any single evidence in this regard? The court has already issued a standing warrant against him, thus the court can't deny his surrender," Sharma said.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Jain concluded that since the petitioner presented "wrong facts" before the court, his petition is dismissed. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner.

70-yr-old guard killed in R'bore tiger attack; 3rd in 2 months

1 2 3 4 Jaipur: A 70-year-old guard of a Jain temple inside Ranthambore Fort was killed in a tiger attack Monday, marking the third human kill in the state's most popular tiger reserve within two months. The death triggered an emergency response, with National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) approving a pending proposal to urgently relocate the sub-adult cubs of tigress Arrowhead (T-84), allegedly behind a series of attacks on humans in Ranthambore, including the latest one. The victim was identified as Radheshyam Mali from Sherpur village. Around 4.30am, he went out to relieve himself outside the temple premises when the tiger pounced on him and dragged him away, officials said. Tensions escalated as Mali's kin and locals staged a protest outside the forest department at the fort later in the day, demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation, a govt job for a family member, and 10 bighas of land. Negotiations between the authorities and the protesters remained inconclusive till late evening. Last month, Arrowhead's cub Kankati killed a seven-year-old boy. A week later, she killed a 40-year-old forest guard.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The rot ran so deep that Balwant Khabad, the elder son of minister of state for agriculture and panchayats Bachu Khabad, owned the official login credentials for the scheme's portal which no other person other than authorised govt officers can own. This stunning revelation was made by the prosecution in the sessions court in Dahod on Monday during the hearing of applications to cancel bail granted to Balwant and his brother Kiran, a co-accused. While opposing the bail for Balwant, the prosecution told the court of alleged WhatsApp chats that revealed that the login ID and password of the Bhuvan portal used for MNREGA works were shared with Balwant. A senior district police officer confirmed this on condition of anonymity. The portal is used to enter details of completed MNREGA works with geotags and photographs. The official said they are still investigating what the ID was used for. "We are gathering details about the IP addresses used to log in using the ID and password," the official said. Entries regarding the work are to be made by officials, which could be gram rozgar sevaks, technical assistants or other similar officials. The investigating officer moved the applications in the Dahod sessions court after Balwant and Kiran were granted bail by a magisterial court on May 28. The special public prosecutor and counsel representing the brothers submitted their arguments to the court Special public prosecutor Amit Nair pressed for the cancellation of bail even as the application was opposed by senior counsel Sudhir Nanavati. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The court has now kept the applications for orders. The brothers are linked to agencies that supplied material for MNREGA works even though they did not qualify as vendors in the bidding. A total of 32 firms connected with the irregularities were detected in an investigation by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), which registered an offence regarding the scam. Balwant was linked to the firm Shri Raj Construction Co, while Kiran to Shri Raj Traders. Shri Raj Traders was paid Rs 30.04 crore, while Shri Raj Construction Co got Rs 82 lakh. Woman loses gold worth 20L from PSU bank locker

Kolkata: A 64-year-old doctor, Chhabi Chaudhury Bose, who works with KMC and owns a joint account with her 90-year-old mother, alleged a theft of approximately 200 grams of gold, valued at around Rs 20 lakh, from her bank locker on June 5. Bose operates the locker from a nationalised bank's Shyampukur branch. Bose, a resident of Kristuaram Bose Street in north Kolkata, lodged an FIR with Shyampukur police on Sunday. Bose said, upon opening the locker around 12.40 pm, she found the steel box, which contained the gold, empty. However, another wooden box containing old fragile ornaments remained untouched. Bose was unable to take immediate action on the day of the discovery due to time constraint and her professional commitments. She stated how she revisited the bank the following day and approached the branch manager to report the incident in writing. However, she alleged that the manager refused to accept a written report. Bose has expressed her suspicion that someone from the bank might be involved in the theft. The stolen gold was reportedly intended for treatment of her mother and her cardiac patient husband.
