Rosatom completes first RITM-400 reactor for Rossiya nuclear icebreaker

unit for the
Rossiya nuclear icebreaker
, which will be the most powerful in the world, Rosatom said on Wednesday.
The completion of the unit was announced during a live broadcast in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The event coincided with the inauguration of Rosatom's exposition marking the 80th anniversary of Russia's nuclear industry on May 20.
'The completion of the RITM-400 reactor is a significant event for the icebreaker fleet, for Rosatom and for our entire country. The reactor units of the next-generation Rossiya nuclear icebreaker will allow it to break over 4 meters thick ice. We decided to name each of the two reactors, which will make the ship extraordinary powerful, after the Russian legendary heroes, Ilya Muromets and Dobrynya Nikitich. They performed feats in the name of Russia, while the new reactors named after them will help Rossiya icebreaker overcome the special ice conditions of the Arctic,' Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev said at the event.
'Today we have completed the first RITM-400 for Rossiya icebreaker; in a couple of months we will complete the second one. Both units will be sent to the shipyard for installation on the Rossiya nuclear ship and will be a gift from Rosatom's machine builders to mark the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry. The completion of this project opens up new opportunities in developing the Northern Sea Route,' said Igor Kotov, Head of Rosatom's Machine Building Division.
The RITM-400 reactors are intended to power the next-generation Rossiya-class icebreakers, part of Russia's strategy to expand its navigation and commercial operations in the Arctic region.

This YouTube video is a compilation of multiple clips showing aerial attacks on aircraft using drones. This channel has posted a few other similar videos as well. MSC Irina, billed as largest ship in the world, calls at Vizhinjam
MSC Irina, known as the biggest container vessel in the world operated by a Swiss-based container shipping giant, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), reached the outer anchorage of the Vizhinjam International Seaport on Tuesday evening. This is the first time MSC Irina, the lead ship of the MSC Irina-class, a series of six identical ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs), is sailing into the coast of a south Asian port. Berthing of the ship is expected on Saturday or Sunday, as another six more vessels are in the queue to berth at the port before Irina. The Irina-class ships have a capacity of 24,346 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). The vessel could carry more than 24,300 standard 20-foot shipping containers stacked up to 22 decks. MSC Irina, amassive ship measuring 399.99 m in length and 61.3 m in beam, is the third ship in the Irina-class to call at the port. Earlier, MSC Türkiye and MSC Michel Cappellini, belonging to the same class, had called at the port here. The MSC Irina is expected to discharge around 4,000 container movements here. 2.20 lakh TEUs The port has handled a total of around 7.2 lakhs TEUs containers after the trial run and subsequent operations began at the port. In the current financial year, the port has managed to handle around 2.20 lakh TEUs containers, according to the port authorities.

India getting under US skin by buying Russian arms, says Trump surrogate
TOI correspondent from US: The Trump administration on Monday laid out what is virtually a "you are either with us or against us" policy on India, warning New Delhi about buying Russian arms and being part of BRICS group of nations. Asserting that "there were certain things that the Indian government did that generally rubbed the United States the wrong way," Lutnick suggested that New Delhi was falling in line, saying President Trump "calls that out directly and specifically, and the Indian government is addressing it specifically." Lutnick's remarked irked the traditionally non-aligned foreign policy establishment in India, with some commentators asking if friendship with the US requires New Delhi giving up control of its foreign policy and have no national interest outside friendly ties with the US. "India has far greater reasons to feel wronged by the US for decades and even today in some ways. From what Lutnick is saying the condition for making friends with the US is for India to shed its defence ties with Russia and not join any organisation that US does not like," noted former foreign secretary and ambassador Kanwal Sibal. Lutnick, Sibal said, "is ill informed, has not adequately studied the history of India- US ties, and has little grounding in geopolitics." On his part, Lutnick, one of several billionaires in the Trump cabinet with little grounding in politics and diplomacy, talked up his close personal ties to India and Indian-Americans, recounting his friendship with Nikesh Arora, a former senior executive at Google and CEO of Palo Alto Networks. From the get-go he expressed suspicion about BRICKS seeking to undermine the US dollar's status as a global reserve currency, and jarringly in recent weeks, took credit for defusing India-Pakistan tensions, claiming he had mediated a truce using trade as a carrot.
