Tottenham's last match 'not good enough'
Tottenham defender Molly Bartrip says the team have to "prove why we should be in this league" in their final six games of the Women's Super League season.Spurs currently lie seventh in the table having lost their past four league matches in a row, including last weekend's 1-0 defeat by Brighton. She told BBC Sport: "It's been a bit of a rollercoaster. We've had some really good performances, and some we're definitely not proud of. "I think you can look throughout the season and see there are lots of things we can improve on. The weekend's result was not good enough. With our standards, we set them a lot higher than that. "Overall we have six games left so we have to kick on and prove why we should be in this league and prove to each other why we should be fighting for each other."Her side travels to West Ham on Sunday (12:00 GMT kick-off), while they also face relegation candidates Leicester and Aston Villa in their final six games."All the games are winnable," says Bartrip. "The teams we are playing are in and around us. We should be looking at it positively in that way. "Looking at the quality in the squad, we have it in us. We just have to make sure we are doing it at the weekend."

Tottenham to make Mathys Tel move permanent with £30m transfer fee
Tottenham are expected to seal the permanent signing of Mathys Tel for a fee of about €35m (£30m) in the next 48 hours. Spurs paid Bayern Munich a €10m loan fee to sign the forward for the second half of the Premier League season. The 20-year-old scored two goals in 13 league appearances, 11 of which were starts, but was an unused substitute for Spurs' Europa League final triumph over Manchester United, which resulted in their first trophy for 17 years. Tel is poised to become the first signing of the Thomas Frank era, after the Dane replaced Ange Postecoglou as manager on a three-year contract, though the groundwork for the deal was completed before Frank's appointment on Monday. Frank is interested in reuniting with Bryan Mbeumo, who Brentford value north of £60m, but are yet to bid for the forward. Mbeumo, also wanted by Manchester United, has been a revelation for Brentford since signing from Troyes in a £5.8m deal in August 2019, when Brentford were in the Championship. Spurs believe Frank can play a key role in convincing Mbeumo to join. United have had a bid worth up to £55m rejected for the Cameroon forward and Brentford are under no pressure to sell. The transfer window reopens on Monday. Thomas Frank on verge of first Tottenham transfer with club close to reaching £30million deal for forward
TOTTENHAM are nearing a £30million deal to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, according to reports. Tel, 20, spent the second half of last season on loan at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou. 4 4 The initial deal possessed a £45m option to buy. Following further negotiations, Bild claim that Tottenham have knocked that fee down to around £30m, with a deal imminent. Tel made 20 appearances in all competitions following his mid-season switch, scoring three times. The French youth international played five times on Spurs' run to Europa League glory, including in both legs of the semi-finals. Tel, who turned 20 in April, arrived at Tottenham having already gained a wealth of experience in Germany. The highly-rated starlet played 83 times for Bayern Munich, scoring 16 goals. Having initially not been sure about a move to Spurs, Tel was convinced to make the switch by former boss Postecoglou. While the Aussie has since been axed, new manager Thomas Frank is said to also be keen on keeping Tel - with the promising forward to become the Dane's first Spurs signing. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Tel, who is currently at the Under-21 Euros with France, is set to pen a long-term deal at White Hart Lane. Ange Postecoglou receives first job offer since Tottenham sacking
Just a week after getting sacked by Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou is reportedly in talks to make a swift return to the dugout. Last Friday, Spurs announced that Postecoglou had been relieved of his duties after two seasons in north London, a decision that has divided players, fans and pundits. The Australian ended Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought by beating Manchester United in the Europa League final, thereby securing their return to the Champions League. However, their Premier League campaign was a disaster, suffering a record 22 defeats and finishing 17th in the table, only ahead of the three relegated sides. Though Postecoglou assured supporters that 'season three is better than season two', Daniel Levy make the call to axe him and hire Thomas Frank from Brentford. Unsurprisingly, Postecoglou's attractive brand of football and ability to win silverware has made him an attractive target for many clubs around the world and one has already approached him. According to The Athletic, Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli have made contact with the 59-year-old as they weigh up whether to replace current head coach Matthias Jaissle. Popular with the fans, Jaissle guided Al Ahli, one of the four Saudi clubs owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), to the AFC Champions League title last season. But the young German has just a year left on his contract and has turned down multiple offers to extend it having been tipped to return to Europe, amid links with West Ham and RB Leipzig. It is said 'talks are moving quickly with Postecoglou', while Xavi, out of work since being sacked by Barcelona over a year ago, is also a contender for the job. More Trending Postecoglou is of course no stranger to managing in Asia following spells in Australia and Japan, as well as the Australia national team. Meanwhile, Brentford are on the hunt to find Frank's replacement. The Bees had hoped to appoint Justin Cochrane, a member of Frank's coaching staff, but he had also moved to Tottenham. They could still hire from within with set-piece coach Keith Andrews the new favourite for the job, while Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna and even Postecoglou are among the frontrunners.
