Disco Elysium Studio Finally Gives Us A Tease Of Its Long-Awaited Next Game

Yahoo11-03-2025

ZA/UM Studio, the entity which at one point released Disco Elysium, a critically acclaimed detective RPG about navigating the ruins of capitalism and solving a murder, has finally revealed its next game nearly six years later. Instead of Disco Elysium 2, it's a spy RPG still mostly shrouded in secrecy called Project[C4], and one big question facing it is whether it will bear any resemblance to the studio's previous work after years of internal upheaval and tumult.
In [C4] you play an Operant working for a corrupt global power in a world where the mind is a battlefield for geopolitical struggle and espionage. 'More vulnerable and more powerful than the physical world, it can be erased, changed, reordered, and of course significantly altered through regular use of psychoactive substances amongst other means,' reads the press release from ZA/UM Studio. 'Players must steel themselves with whatever comfort they can in order to survive the violent canvas of the real.'
Here's the quick teaser released today which has some cool art and intriguing vibes but is light on substance.
The material was first presented to press in a scripted 10-minute presentation by C4 writers Jim Ashilevi (voice over direction on Disco Elysium) and Siim Sinamäe (additional writing on Disco Elysium). They confirmed that the studio has been working on the new project for about three years now and said one of the main things that will differentiate it from other RPGs is making failure 'a joy in itself' rather than something players want to save-scum their way out of. The duo also cited John le Carré and his thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as one of the inspirations for the game, but didn't share many specifics on what the game's actually about or how it will play.
Most notably, the pair did not take questions and only vaguely referenced the ongoing issues facing ZA/UM, which is a very different studio than it was five years ago after layoffs, firings, and departures of some of the core team that made Disco Elysium, including creator Robert Kurvitz, art director Aleksander Rostov, and writer Helen Hindpere. Amid dueling allegations of theft, fraud, and abuse by the founders and current studio leadership, several new indie teams popped up last year, each claiming the mantle to creating the true Disco Elysium successor.
'As with any artistic practice, attempts and failures have been a natural part of this process. Failing forward seems to be one of those things we here at ZA/UM excel at,' Ashilevi said during the [C4] presentation. The game, whatever it turns out to be, seems to thematically echo many of the studio's troubles. 'Betrayal is only possible in the presence of love,' Sinamäe said of the project's spycraft storytelling. The team is planning to present more information about the upcoming game at GDC later this week.

Elite DB Brody Jennings on Miami official: 'I had the time of my life'

Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin High School athlete Brody Jennings spent last weekend at Miami for his official visit under tragic circumstances. His father, Bradley, passed away just before the trip was to begin for the family. The group would follow through and see Coral Gables once more as the Hurricane staff worked to make the weekend as uplifting as possible. Advertisement "My dad passed a few days ago, so I couldn't really think," Jennings told local media. "I came on the visit and had the time of my life. I came here to have fun. It was about football, but more about family and football at the same time. He (Mario Cristobal) is not just a football guy, he's a family guy -- all the coaches are family guys. Father figures. "My dad wanted me to be strong. He liked Miami a lot. He liked the school a lot and I like it a lot. We wanted to still see everything." Jennings has considerable connections to the area and Miami program itself, with two siblings attending UM, including his sister currently on the track team. The bigger picture with the people and the place all came together for a memorable time on campus. Advertisement "It's been great," he said. "I don't know if any other schools are topping this official visit. Not even in just seeing everything, but the coaches. Coach Cristobal is a great coach. Coach (Will) Harris ad Coach (Zac) Etheridge -- great coaches, and the whole staff was great. "I've been here multiple times to see what the program is about is something serious. It's like that for real. It's a great program to play in with great people to be around. My family is from Miami. They've been down before and they enjoyed the visit, too. They enjoy the school and they're Miami Hurricanes fans already, so it would be great playing around the hometown of my parents." He remains on board with the Big Ten power, but all involved know this recruitment has more layers to be determined. Advertisement "It's gonna come down to the wire," he said. "That's not gonna stop Miami from recruiting me. Miami is coming really hard, Michigan is still coming hard. Miami wants me really bad. "Miami is a great school. Academics, private school. I could be successful with the school and life after football. There is a lot to offer." Florida is set to host Jennings this weekend. Georgia and Michigan get the next two weekends of official visits later this month. The four-star recruit says Sherrone Moore and company are keeping an open mind as visits continue to go down. "They know great players will visit other schools," Jennings said. "They know how hard I worked to get here, so they support me even though other schools will be on me." Diesel Resort 2026 Collection

His highly-anticipated Maison Margiela Artisanal couture debut lands next month. So Glenn Martens might, perfectly justifiably, have seemed stretched thinner than a pair of undersized Diesel skinny jeans at this presentation. And yet there was no discernible sign of anything but total focus on this pre-spring collection from a designer whose creativity must be shot through with elastane. 'The collection is definitely a continuation of the last show,' he said as we ruffled through the rails. At that show the set was a riot of globally-sourced street art. For this lookbook the background jostled with 100-odd 'very cute' onlookers, some from Diesel HQ, and some street cast in its hometown of Breganza. The lookbook was a more concentrated distillation of Martens' and his teams' broader seasonal output than previously, thanks in part to a structural restructuring on the back-end designed to give Diesel's worldwide network of 5,000-ish points of sale greater autonomy. Dresses, jackets, and outerwear in neoprene were clad in either felted wool or treated denim to create minimized but classic pieces with a grungy facade. Martens cheerily noted that one knit-hooded overcoat was inspired by a Y-project favorite of his own design that he'd decided to keep alive at Diesel. There were high-waisted, low-sleeved leather puffers, and what Martens called 'fake tailoring': pieces in jersey, denim, or more neoprene cut to resemble tailored pieces without quite being so. Other Martens-ish masquerades included dresses with trompe l'oeil draping, leather blousons overprinted with perfecto trompe l'oeil prints, and a slip dress in shiny organza-ish material, red on silver, that featured a double layered construction at the shoulder that allows the wearer to tweak the neckline in multiple ways. There was a brief aside into preppy pastiche with a big D logo bengal stripe shirt layered over an overprinted henley above distressed bootcut jeans. Tarnished silver taping on crispily treated mesh knits were readymade but looked DIY: another contradiction to play with. Even edited down, and even with another brand now jostling for its designer's attention, this Diesel collection was aflame with ideas. Expect Margiela to be explosively so.
