'It was about keeping things elevated but still approachable,' Tsui says. 'Too much wood in a basement can feel cabin-like, so we used it sparingly as an accent.'

A hidden desk nook provides a tucked-away spot for work or creative projects, while a glass-partitioned game s room creates a semi-private retreat where adults can enjoy coffee, play cards or catch up with friends while maintaining clear sightlines to the main area. This subtle separation of space fosters flexibility without sacrificing flow, giving adults a designated zone that still feels connected to the family's shared experience.

Designed to feel like a natural extension of the living space, the minibar features matte white cabinetry, wood-toned accents and a slim floating shelf that adds just enough dimension without clutter. It's an elegant solution to an awkward corner, now a functional refreshment hub that keeps snacks and drinks within reach during parties or family movie nights.
