Cunard photo exhibition appeal prompts memories of shipping line
Images from the cruise line's past were collected for the Sea of Glamour exhibition, curated by photographer Mary McCartney, which will be launched in Liverpool later this month.
After an appeal to find some of the people shown in the photos, former staff and guests got in touch with Cunard to tell their stories.
Anne Logan, 84, recognised herself in a photo showing staff aboard the QE2 in 1975.
The former stewardess said the picture, originally featured in British tabloid Reveille, brought back memories from her 30 years working on the seas, including serving celebrities who travelled onboard.
She said: 'I looked after lots. Rod Stewart was with us three times, first with Britt Ekland then Alana Stewart and then Rachel Hunter – so with a different woman every time!
'Elton John and his wife Renate Blauel came across from New York to Southampton. He was very nice and polite but very, very quiet. He spent all of his time with his manager and she spent all of her time in the shops.'
Ms Logan, originally from near Port Talbot in South Wales, worked on 19 world cruises before settling in Southampton where she became a care worker.
She has not lost her love for being at sea and still goes on a cruise once a year.

Another photo shows Leading Air Crewman Roy Eggleston with his then-girlfriend saying goodbye at Southampton before he boarded the QE2 as part of the 825 Naval Air Squadron in 1982, during the Falklands War.
The romantic connection captured on camera did not last and the couple later split up but Mr Eggleston, now 69 and living in Sutton on Sea, Lincolnshire, contacted Cunard to reveal himself and described his former fiancee as 'a beautiful part of my life'.
The exhibition also features David Lawrence, pictured standing aboard a lifeboat from the QE2 which he kept on the front drive of his semi-detached home in Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.
His son Geraint, 47, said he was about four when his father bought the boat, which he named Rhona after his daughter.

'My dad was a little eccentric,' he said.
'He didn't often follow the same path as everyone else. If you think about it not many people would buy a lifeboat to keep in their driveway, but this wasn't the first time he had done something like this.'
Mr Lawrence, a former coal miner, has since died but his son said: 'It's great to see that despite the loss, the story of my dad and Rhona lives on today.'
Anniversary celebrations will take place in Liverpool from May 26 when Cunard's newest ship the Queen Anne will arrive in the city.
The Sea of Glamour exhibition will be open to the public at the Royal Liverpool Building from May 28 to June 17 and will be free to view.

James Norton and Rebecca Adlington take part in 10-hour charity swim
On Friday, the two were among those to take the plunge in a 10-hour endurance ocean swim at Joss Bay in Kent, to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation, a charity committed to addressing overfishing. Ahead of the event, they shared their earliest memories of the sea and pressed the importance of allowing future generations to 'experience the magic of healthy seas'. Ms Adlington told the PA news agency: 'I've always felt a deep connection to water, so when the opportunity came up to support coastal restoration through this event with Talisker and Blue Marine Foundation, it just felt like a natural fit. 'As a swimming challenge, this one stands out because of its direct impact on protecting and preserving marine life, with £150 from every kilometre swum helping to fund essential conservation work.' The two-time gold medal swimmer added: 'I hope people see this event as more than just a challenge, it's a call to action.' A report published by Blue Marine Foundation in July 2024 noted a 92% UK reduction in seagrass meadows and a 95% decline in native oyster reefs over the last century. Happy Valley actor Norton said: 'Like everyone, I'm in awe of the ocean. It's wild, powerful, and under threat. 'Taking a stand is about protecting biodiversity and ensuring future generations can experience the magic of healthy seas.' He added that his family goes by the mantra 'you'll never regret a swim' but admitted he had never been involved with this level of endurance swimming. New government regulations came into force on Friday which give water industry regulator Ofwat the power to retrospectively prevent bonuses paid in cash, shares or long-term incentive schemes to chief executives and chief financial officers for breaches of environmental, customer service or financial standards in a given financial year. Ms Adlington did not have a direct challenge for water companies in the UK but added that the Blue Marine Foundation was committed to coastal regeneration and improving UK waters. Ahead of the event, Norton said: 'My earliest memories of the sea are going on day trips to Scarborough. 'My whole village would cram into a coach and head to the beach for a day of fish and chips, rock and candy floss.' For every kilometre swum by participants at Joss Bay between 7am and 5pm on Friday, Talisker, who are supporting the event, will donate £150 to the foundation. The company has also pledged a further £112,608 to Blue Marine Foundation through sales of a limited edition whisky.

By playing venues this size — more than 18,000 are at the Amsterdam show — Dua could be forgiven for putting all the focus on to her stage performance. But at every gig she goes into the audience to speak to her fans. 'You're cute' She makes light work of Be The One and Anything For Love — which is even more impressive given that she has spent 90 minutes going through physically demanding choreography while barely stopping for a break. The energy then fires back up to boiling point for an insanely good four-song encore of New Rules, Dance The Night, Don't Start Now and Houdini, with Dua's high- intensity just as impressive as at the start of the evening. Advertisement She has concerts in Italy and Belgium to go before she will return to the UK for two huge back-to-back shows at Wembley Stadium, on June 20 and 21, and two gigs at Anfield in Liverpool on June 24 and 25. The four dates will see her perform to more than 250,000 fans. It is an incredible comparison when you think that the first Wembley show will take place 3,000 days after her first ever live appearance in the capital, at the 250- capacity Oslo Hackney venue in East London.
