Toyota recalls over 440,000 vehicles. See impacted models.
More than 400,000 Toyota cars are being recalled due to light failures that could impact visibility.
According to a notice first reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 19, the recall covers 443,444 cars with model years 2022 through 2025.
The reverse lights on affected cars may fail over time due to moisture entering the light assemblies. If both lights fail, it may reduce visibility for the driver when backing up and fail to notify pedestrians and other vehicles that the car is reversing, increasing crash risk.

Anyone who owns the models mentioned in the recall can take their vehicles to a Toyota dealer to have repairs done for free. Reverse light assemblies and wire harnesses will be repaired or replaced as needed.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 30, 2025. Owners can also contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 with recall numbers 24TB06 and 24TA06.
Car owners looking to check the status of their vehicles, car parts or car accessories can enter their information into the NHTSA recall database or check USA TODAY's recall database for car and motor vehicle recalls.

Confirmed: Toyota Will Make the GR Corolla In the UK
The rumors were true: Toyota will begin producing the GR Corolla in the United Kingdom starting in 2026. Preparations at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK) plant actually began last year and will culminate with the start of production sometime next year. The company will also share information on annual production volumes and reveal how much it's investing to prepare the factory for the flagship model's arrival. TMUK has been making cars since 1992, when the first Carina rolled off the assembly line. The Avensis sedan and Auris hatch were also made there. Toyota cites growing demand for the GR Corolla as the reason behind its decision to expand manufacturing. It also aims to 'deliver vehicles to customers as swiftly as possible,' and according to Reuters , the UK-made cars will be shipped to the United States. The world's largest automaker for the fifth consecutive year is reportedly spending up to $56 million to make it happen. Once production ramps up, as many as 10,000 vehicles are expected to be shipped to North America annually. It's worth noting that the Trump administration imposed a 25% tariff on vehicles assembled in Japan, while tariffs on UK-made cars have been reduced from 27.5% to 10% for up to 100,000 vehicles per year. Shifting production of US-bound GR Corollas to the UK would ease some of the tax burden, though it's unlikely current pricing will remain unchanged for long. Now might be the best time to buy one, unless you're holding out for the hardcore version Toyota recently teased. It'll have more torque than the standard car's 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), although it's unclear whether it will carry the GRMN badge or be a different kind of special edition. 7 people shot at park in Washington state: 'Careless act of violence'
Seven people were shot at a park in Washington state on Wednesday, May 28, police said. The Lakewood Police Department said in a Facebook post that seven people, ranging from ages 16 to 38, were shot at shortly before 8 p.m. local time at Harry Todd Park in the city. Police also said on May 29 that two out of the seven victims remain in serious condition, while one is in critical condition and the four others are in stable condition. Five of the victims were found at the park, while two others walked to local hospitals, police told KOMO News. "Most of these people were unintentionally struck during this careless act of violence," police wrote in its Facebook post. "Detectives will continue to sort through the information gathered to hold those involved accountable for their actions." According to the social media post, police believe the shooting was not random and stemmed from a conflict. "Currently detectives believe that this incident began as a dispute between two groups that escalated to gunshots," police wrote. "There is no threat to the public and this was not a targeted attack on park goers." As of May 29, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police told KOMO that the scene at the park was 'chaotic' once they arrived, as many families and children were present when the shots rang out. 'We've had these couple days here where the sun finally came out and it's been a gorgeous time for people to get out and enjoy the park, the lake and then you have something like this that happens,' Lakewood Police Sgt. Charles Porche told the Seattle, Washington-based TV station. In the police's initial Facebook post on May 28, the department said the "scene was hectic because many of these people were trying to leave the park after hearing the gunshots."
