Hail airport set for expansion to accommodate 2.2 million passengers a year

HAIL — The Ministry of Transport and Logistics is working to expand Hail International Airport with increasing its capacity to more than 2.2 million passengers annually. This is part of a comprehensive development project aimed at developing air transport infrastructure in the northern part of Saudi Arabia and enhancing the efficiency of vital facilities in the region.
This was revealed by Director General of the General Administration of Privatization at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saud Al-Arifi while attending a dialogue session titled "Investment opportunities in the transport and logistics sector" at the Hail Forum. He said that the project represents a key pillar of the ministry's plan to transform Hail into an integrated logistics center.
Al-Arifi said that the ministry, in cooperation with the Hail Region Development Authority, is also working on a massive logistics center project spanning an area exceeding 374,000 square meters. This project aims to serve supply chains and facilitate the movement of goods between various Saudi regions, he said.
Work is underway on a roadside services development project to provide integrated facilities that meet the needs of travelers and support the safety and efficiency of regional roads. These projects are in line with Hail's geographical position as a central hub connecting the north, center, and west, enhancing its ability to play a pivotal role in the future of transportation and logistics services in the Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that Hail International Airport is only 60 minutes away from 11 Arab capitals and 200 minutes away from Central Europe. This is a geographical advantage that has qualified the airport as a major hub for logistics services.

World's largest cooling system activated at Grand Mosque ahead of Hajj 1446
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has activated the largest cooling system of its kind in the world, as part of preparations for the 1446 Hajj season. The system boasts a total capacity of 155,000 tons of cooling. The air conditioning infrastructure of the Grand Mosque relies on two main stations: Al-Shamiya Station, with a capacity of 120,000 tons, and Ajyad Station, with a capacity of 35,000 tons. These stations cover the entire mosque complex, including all expansion areas, ensuring pilgrims experience moderate and comfortable temperatures ranging from 22°C to 24°C. To maintain optimal air quality, the system integrates advanced purification technologies capable of removing 95% of airborne impurities. This ensures a clean and safe environment for pilgrims, particularly during the peak summer heat. Proactive and continuous maintenance is being conducted by the Haram Authority. This includes the replacement of key components, securing work sites, and efficient resource management to accommodate heightened demand during Hajj.

Hajj Ministry urges pilgrims to stay in tents on Arafat Day amid extreme heat
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has intensified preparations to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1446 AH, urging strict compliance with heat-related safety guidelines on Arafat Day. In light of extreme temperatures expected at the holy sites, the ministry advised pilgrims to remain inside their designated tents from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Arafat Day and to avoid venturing to Jabal Al-Rahma or Masjid Namira during these hours to prevent heat-related illnesses. Pilgrims are also reminded to strictly adhere to the official movement schedules approved by relevant authorities. Use of authorized transportation, based on agreed mobility plans, is mandatory for all movements within the sacred zones.
