Xabi Alonso's final match as Bayer Leverkusen manager ended in an action-packed 2-2 draw at sixth-placed Mainz.
Patrik Schick's quick-fire double turned the match in Leverkusen's favour following Paul Nebel's first-half opener before Jonathan Burkardt's penalty brought the hosts level.
Alonso, who is reportedly set to take over at Real Madrid, could easily have had his farewell outing ruined as Mainz, who qualified for the Conference League, had four goals disallowed.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund will join Bayern and runners-up Leverkusen in the Champions League next term.
Goals from Ansgar Knauff, Rasmus Kristensen and Ellyes Skhiri secured third-placed Frankfurt a 3-1 win at Europa League-bound Freiburg, who ended fifth.

Elsewhere, Stuttgart defeated RB Leipzig 3-2, Wolfsburg secured a 1-0 success at Borussia Monchengladbach and Union Berlin won 2-1 away to Augsburg.
