Humiliated golf star racks up a 12 at the RBC Canadian Open in disastrous opening hole
French ace Matthieu Pavon suffered the nightmare in Toronto but incredibly it isn't the worst score on a hole this year
Mashed-up Matthieu Pavon was left devastated after carding a disastrous 12 at the RBC Canadian Open.
The French star suffered the calamity on the opening hole, the 10th on the course, of his second round at TPC Toronto.
Pavon's anguish began with a wild tee shot into trouble and, having got his ball back into play, he hit a fourth into the water.
The 32-year-old reloaded and promptly hit his sixth into the drink before doing exactly the same again with his eighth after yet another penalty drop.
Pavon finally managed to get his 10th shot onto the putting surface before taking two-putts to sign for a dozen.
Such is golf, the shattered star bounced back with two straight birdies, but the damage was well and truly done.
It was painful for Pavon, but he did go one better than William Mouw, who ended up with a 13 during his second round of The American Express in January.
He made an octuple-bogey, tripped up by the notorious 18-foot-deep greenside bunker. It took him 13 shots to play the famed par five, most of which were caught by TV cameras.
Mouw said: 'I'm definitely not the first to get captured by the bunker and make a big number and I certainly won't be the last.'

Sinisalo sets out Celtic plan as keeper makes Kasper Schmeichel claim
The former Aston Villa shotstopper took over from the veteran Danish keeper when he was out injured and impressed during his seven-game stint, which included a derby clash at Ibrox. He's also back up with Finland to Lukas Hradecky and is currently on international duty, but he's made it clear his ambition is to become Schmeichel's successor. Read more: Sinisalo said: "Kasper has one year left on his contract. I have four. We are proceeding according to plan. I am 15 years younger than him. "Hopefully next season I'll get more minutes. I'll just try to play as well as I can when the opportunity arises. We'll see what happens. "Kasper is an excellent guy. He supported our team well and gave us tips when he was out with an injury. We are a good team together. "Every footballer wants to play. However, I knew that in front of me was an experienced top goalkeeper who is, so to speak, coming to the end of his career. "And that I am the young goalkeeper who is more of a project behind him. "There must be some patience from me. "But the plan is to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic one day and hopefully that will open doors for me here on the national team as well. "Sinisalo impressed during his spell as the veteran Dane's replacement, which included an Old Firm game at Ibrox. He said: "Even though the end of the season was disappointing because we didn't win all three trophies, I enjoyed it. "I played seven of the last ten games. I'm quite happy with what I achieved towards the end of the season. "I got to experience what it's like to be a Celtic goalkeeper and I got to play in the match that won the league. "I lifted that trophy with a slightly better conscience because I had played a part in winning it myself. "And it was cool to experience the game at Ibrox. There were a few nerves before the game - 95 per cent of the crowd were home fans, every one of whom hates you. "I will definitely remember the experience forever."

Davide Ancelotti's future confirmed after Rangers links
The former Real Madrid No.2 was heavily touted to take his first steps into management on his own at Ibrox. However, Rangers opted for Russell Martin and the Italian has quickly opted to join his father on the bench for Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in Sao Paulo on Tuesday, where a win will guarantee them a place at the finals. Read more: The Brazilian FA stated: "We are pleased to announce that Davide Ancelotti will arrive in Sao Paulo to join our coaching staff. "He will be one of the national team's assistant coaches. He began his career as an assistant in 2015 and has worked for Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. "With a solid academic background in sports science, he has a FIFA PRO license and arrives to contribute to the team's preparation for upcoming international challenges. "The arrival of Davide Ancelotti represents another step in our quest for innovation and technical improvement. His international experience and training methodologies will be fundamental for the development of the players and for building an even more competitive team. "We are confident his presence will be an important reinforcement in our national team's journey towards its objectives."
