LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — Charges Friday night in the more than year-old case revolving around a .
The baby's mother, Liberti Figueroa, faces two counts of aggravated endangering of a child and one count of involuntary manslaughter.
'Aggravated endangering a child is recklessly causing or premeditating a child to be put into a position where it could affect their harm or life,' Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said in an interview with FOX4 Friday.
This happened at the Woodland Village Apartments near Wilson Avenue and Limit in October of 2023.

Thursday evening, Liberti Figueroa's stepmother actually called FOX4 after finding out her stepdaughter had been arrested.
''Ah no. Your son dropped her out of her crib,'' Liberti said of how her then boyfriend explained her baby's death to her in October of 2023. 'My son is four! Four! My daughter has been bleeding like that and he's four. He wouldn't do that to her.'
As you may be able to tell, Figueroa's blaming her ex-boyfriend for her daughter's death. , seeking justice in Saraphina Avarose Sanchez's death. Friday though, FOX4 found out she's been charged in connection to the death of a child.
'I can't comment on that because that's for a jury to decide how the facts are portrayed,' Thompson said when asked about Liberti's ex-boyfriend.
'I cannot comment at this time,' he continued when asked if more charges will be filed in relation to the baby's death.
After our interview with Thompson, FOX4 interviewed Liberti's stepmother, Ashley Figueroa, who lives outside Orlando, Florida.
'I was in shock,' Ashley said when asked what her reaction was to Liberti being arrested. 'I didn't want to believe that she was arrested because we all know she's innocent.'
Because of the nature of the charges, FOX4 asked Ashley if she felt like Liberti would have endangered her child if she left her with her then boyfriend.
'No, I don't think she would hurt her child,' Ashley replied. 'I think when she left her child with the person, he did something to her, but I can't say yes or no.'
Thompson said law enforcement did a thorough investigation in this case.
'Then we reviewed what law enforcement provided us to determine whether something needed to be charged,' he added.
One of the aggravated endangering of a child charges comes from September of 2023, a month before Avarose Sanchez actually died.
