Singer Akhil Sachdeva reflects on working with Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane amid Indo-Pak tensions
Mumbai: Playback singer Akhil Sachdeva opened up about his experience collaborating with Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane for his latest track, 'Tu Chaand Hai.'
Addressing the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists in the industry, Akhil shared his thoughts on working with Mawra, highlighting the creative synergy and mutual respect that transcended boundaries. Akhil shared the fascinating backstory behind his soulful track 'Tu Chand,' revealing how the song initially didn't resonate with him but later became a memorable part of his repertoire. The singer disclosed that the song was sent to him by the team, who were keen for him to lend his voice. However, due to a hectic schedule filled with travel and shows, Akhil initially declined the offer. 'When I first heard it over the phone, it didn't strike me as something I should do,' he admitted.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, the singer revealed that it was only after persistent requests from the record label and encouragement from his wife that he decided to give the song a proper listen. 'She said, 'This is a beautiful song, you can't say no,' and she was right. It needed a voice like mine,' he reflected.
Adding another layer of connection to the project was the involvement of Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who was cast for the music video. Akhil revealed that he was already familiar with Mawra through her brother-in-law, Farhan Saeed, a close friend of his for nearly a decade. The two had even met years earlier during an overseas concert, which made the video shoot in Dubai comfortable and friendly.
'Later, I found out they had planned a very interesting concept involving Mavrah. She's a well-known actress from Pakistan, and they had cast her for the video. I already knew Mavrah—her brother-in-law, Farhan Saeed, is a very dear friend of mine. We've been close for nearly a decade. I had actually met her a few years ago at an overseas concert. So, there was already a level of comfort between us, which made the shoot very easy.'
Addressing the sensitive issue of cross-border collaborations amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Akhil expressed his belief that 'music has no boundaries' but also emphasized that 'the nation must come first.'
The singer mentioned, 'Considering the current situation, I still believe in the sentiment that music has no boundaries. But at the same time, I also feel that the nation must come first. Despite everything, we answered the situation with love. Although there was some aggressive response from the other side, I maintain that nothing comes above the country. The song remains ours—they only cast the actress. I have complete faith that people will love the song regardless of the circumstances. And yes, we always stand with the nation.'
'Tu Chaand Hai" was released on April 4, 2025.

R.S. Prasanna feels some form of anxiety is required during creative process
Director R.S. Prasanna, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', feels that some form of anxiety is needed in the creative process. The director recently spoke with IANS ahead of the release of his film, which features Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the lead role. Speaking with IANS, Prasanna said, "The beauty of creation is the driving force for me, the anxiety is a friend, it will be there, but if you are driven only by anxiety, I don't think you can create. I think creative energy, if it wins over anxiety, that's when a creation happens. Like 'Inside Out' movie, it was said so beautifully that anxiety is like the correct balance between acceleration and braking. So if you don't accelerate, you can't move, if you don't have a brake, you'll have an accident. So you need both". He also shared his experience of working with Aamir in the film, as he said, "I feel that Aamir sir, and I can speak certainly for myself, he's worked with the best of the best directors, but I can speak for myself, that Aamir sir's magic is that he makes you a better filmmaker than what you are at the beginning of the film". Sitaare Zameen Par | Title Track "He makes you a better filmmaker. And I think the reason for that is, he constantly wants to be better than, you know, what he was yesterday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo And constantly keeping only the film in focus", he added. Earlier, Prasanna had told IANS that human beings will soon catch up with the technological changes in filmmaking. The director said that one cannot stop the march of technology and one has to adapt. The audience will demand a change, the filmmakers will rise, the technological change will happen as it should, and experiments will keep happening, some will click, some will not. He said earlier, "But I think one thing which will never change is the way our hearts beat, so as long as the heart is there in everything, the visual is only pixels, the sound is only decibels, but that feeling, that soul, that is, as long as we have a heart, stories told by humans will always be relevant". Produced by Aamir Khan under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is set to release in cinemas on June 20, 2025. Who killed Pakistani TikTok star Sana Yousuf? Teen shot dead for rejecting suspect's 'offers of friendship'
After 17-year-old Pakistani TikTok star Sana Yousuf was shot dead at her Islamabad residence on Monday, a man was arrested in Faisalabad in eastern Punjab province for allegedly killing her. The accused, identified as 22-year-old Umar Hayat, also a social media content creator, was arrested on Tuesday by the Islamabad Police and was produced in court on Wednesday. Umar is accused of shooting Sana Yousuf, who had more than one million followers on social media, after she rejected his offer of friendship. The murder in Pakistan's capital city has sparked widespread outrage across the globe. According to TV footage, Umar, with his face covered, was brought to court, where police requested additional time to complete their investigation and file formal murder charges. The judge ordered that Umar be presented again on June 18 for pretrial proceedings. Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad's Inspector General of Police (IGP), told a media briefing on Tuesday: 'The accused is a 22-year-old unemployed man who repeatedly attempted to contact the victim. Upon her refusal to respond, he committed the murder.' The suspect took Yousuf's phone with him to 'destroy evidence'. But police had seized her phone as well as the murder weapon from the suspect, Rizvi added. The suspect and Yousuf had known each other for one year. He had travelled to Islamabad between May 28 and 29 to wish Yousuf well on her birthday, but the two could not meet, for unspecified reasons, Dawn reported, citing sources. Authorities told BBC that they believe Umar Hayat murdered Yousaf at her home in Islamabad on Monday after she rejected what they called his "offers of friendship". He allegedly also repeatedly tried, and failed, to meet her. Sana originally hailed from the northern region of Chitral in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Through her videos, she promoted traditional Chitrali music and dress and advocated for girls' education. Hours before Sana Yousuf was killed, she had posted a photo celebrating her birthday with friends. According to The Express Tribune, Sana was shot at close range by an unidentified assailant who reportedly entered her home and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The report, citing police sources, stated: "The killer reportedly entered the house and opened fire before fleeing the scene."

IPL 2025 title for RCB is more 'special' for Anushka, reveals Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli with Anushka Sharma after IPL 2025 final win. (Photo: IANS) As the city of Bengaluru celebrates Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph, star batter Virat Kohli took the time to acknowledge the support of his better half, Anushka Sharma. In the summit clash, Kohli top-scored with 43 off 35 balls as RCB posted an imposing 190/9. In defence of it, RCB's brilliant bowlers, led by Krunal Pandya's match-winning spell of 2-17, restricted Punjab Kings to 184/7. Kohli said that the victory is far more special for Anushka, given her Bengaluru roots. 'I've seen it for 18 years, and she's seen it for 11. Suffered the same moments since 2014 and celebrated every close win and the madness of our supporters at the Chinnaswamy. We're both equally relieved, and since she's a Bangalore girl too, this is far more special for her. Together all the way through @anushkasharma,' posted Kohli on Instagram. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Virat Kohli (@ The moment the final ball was hit and victory sealed, Kohli collapsed to the ground, overcome with emotion. While his teammates celebrated and took in their achievements, Kohli was seen waiting by the boundary line until Anushka joined him. A tight hug and embrace followed as the couple soaked in the feeling of their collective achievement. The families of the players had joined in while lifting the trophy in what can only be described as a wholesome moment. Kohli had spoken about Anushka after lifting the title and said he could not explain the support she provides for him in words. 'So it's been 11 years for her as well, you know. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out. What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin, is something you can't explain in words. Only when you play professionally, you understand the number of things that go on behind the scenes, and what they go through as well,' Kohli said after the match.
