New reward for cold case over 20 years old
PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— An unsolved murder in our area is getting renewed attention.
A new reward is posted for information that can help solve the case from nearly 20 years ago.
The Polerecki family along with police are offering a new reward to whoever comes forward with information in a case that's been going on for decades.

The son of the man who was murdered feels closure is very near.
'It's still pretty tough from time to time,' said Keith Polerecki, Keith Polerecki's son.
Keith Polerecki sits in his Pittston Township home, and is always reminded of one person, his father.
'We'd always go out to, it was back then the Red Barron's games. We did a lot of stuff together as a family,' recalled Polerecki.
His dad, Keith Polerecki, was murdered 29 years ago in 1996 at age 31.
Although Keith believes he knows who's responsible for his father's murder, there is still DNA testing waiting to be processed and Trooper Bill Evans says the case remains open.
'Those certain people were strategically placing themselves around my family during this investigation, and we know that now, we know who they are,' voiced Polerecki.
State troopers recently posted a five thousand dollar reward offered for information to help solve the case.
Keith says his family has added another five thousand on top of that.
Polerecki's death was first ruled suspicious but his body was exhumed a year later and a second autopsy was performed.
That autopsy determined he was murdered with blunt force trauma causing broken bones.
'Just the whole situation itself. It's been taxing on my family,' added Polerecki.
Keith says with new technology, the $10,000 reward and their fight to find justice, he's more confident now then ever they'll find out who killed his father.
'This is never going to go away. Until justice is served this is never going to go away, and we are going to keep pushing,' voiced Polerecki.

1 dead, 1 taken in for questioning after incident in north Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said one person was found dead in north Austin late Friday night after a 911 caller asked for help and then hung up. According to APD, the call came in around 10:55 p.m. with an address in the 9800 block of Halifax Drive, which is near Dessau Road and East Runberg Lane. Udall neighbors rattled after park restrooms set on fire — twice
UDALL, Kan. (KSNW) — You could smell it before you saw it — the charred remains of the city park restrooms, torched and melted from the inside out. Udall Police Chief Erik King is calling it arson and says it's unlike anything he's dealt with in town before. The damage is estimated at around $10,000. Loose tire injures two highway cyclists near Atwood 'This is where the trash can was right here in this corner,' King told KSN. 'Melted the alarms, melted the drains, melted the light switches.' Police say it happened Thursday around 4:30 in the afternoon. Then, just hours later, it happened again. 'The same person returned and, at about 8:40 at night, lit the boy's bathroom on fire, and that caused significant damage,' King said. 'It was on fire for 20 minutes before the alarm company notified us.' He says the timing couldn't be worse, with the Fourth of July just around the corner. Neighbors say the smoke drew their attention before they knew what was happening. 'I was doing yardwork and I had the boys, and a lady from out of town came up to the fence and asked if I had seen a person walking around,' said Skylar Kistler, who lives next to the park. That's when she noticed the smoke coming from the bathroom. 'It kind of made us, I guess, feel protective, like a little more protective, like kind of upset that anybody would do that,' she said. Her husband Tylor says the damage is personal. 'I've lived here my whole life, so it's kind of nice to have a park like this with a splashpad, and you know everything here for the boys right in our backyard, and it's just kind of bad. This is a good building, and it's terrible,' he said. Chief King says the person believed to be responsible has been arrested and is currently being held in juvenile detention. Rapid City man gets 25-years for dealing meth
RAPID CITY, SD (KELO) — A federal judge on Friday sentenced a Rapid City man, tied to a Mexican drug cartel, to 25-years in prison. 38-year-old Guillermo Calderon pleaded guilty in March to Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Prosecutors say Calderon was the leader of the conspiracy that trafficked significant amounts of methamphetamine to Rapid City and Pine Ridge from Mexican cartel operatives.
