Reineke, Ford donate electric Mustang to UNOH
May 22—LIMA — Reineke Family Dealerships and the Ford Motor Company are preparing the next generation of technicians.
The University of Northwest Ohio Alternative Fuels and Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technology program accepted a Ford Mustang Mach-E on Thursday donated by Reineke in partnership with Ford.
Students won't have to wait long until they can work on the vehicle.
"We'll have some worksheets put together (for students to do). We'll be hooking scan tools to it and doing some tests and things in the high-voltage system as well as the low-voltage system," said Randy Pack, electric vehicle program instructor.
The relationships are what it's all about for Ford.
"Partnerships with Reineke and UNOH, that's what it's about," said Todd Sass, technical placement specialist, Great Lakes market area. "Reineke does such a phenomenal job of creating this ecosystem for technicians."
Reineke is excited for the students to take advantage of the opportunity.
"We're just super excited to partner with UNOH, and this is a great opportunity for us as the industry evolves and everything grows," said Jeff Rose, with Reineke. "For them to have first-hand knowledge of what the vehicles actually consist of is going to be great."
The university asked Ford if it could take the vehicle and use it in the program since it couldn't resell it, Pack said.

Seeking Pikes Peak Record, Ford Ditches F-150 SuperTruck for New Super Mustang Mach-E
There are few races globally each year that hold such historic legacies and general allure as the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The 'race to the clouds' is run annually on a public road that snakes up a literal mountain, and it holds a tight grip on manufacturers looking to show just how good their motorsports engineers are. Last year, Romain Dumas took the win in the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck but missed out beating Volkswagen's record of 7 minutes, 57 seconds in the ID.R, set in 2018 (and which was also driven by Dumas). For 2025, Dumas returns with Ford yet again with one goal and a new car. Or, rather, a new SUV: the Super Mustang Mach-E. 0:00 / 0:00 You'd think that Dumas would be content with holding the Pikes Peak record, but race car drivers are a finicky bunch and usually don't settle for 'good enough.' That's why Dumas continues to drive up Pikes Peak with a rival brand like Ford. He wants to beat the mountain, again, for that next hit of ecstasy knowing he's set a new, seemingly impossible record to break. It's also why Ford has hired him—the automaker knows he's one of the best going up that mountain thanks to a record that has stood for nearly a decade now. I Now Ford recognizes he needs a new ride, so this year, he's piloting something a bit closer to a car than a truck or van. The Mustang Mach-E is a wild looking creation, and a big step beyond the 2023 SuperVan 4.2 racer and Ford F-150 SuperTruck. The Mach-E also looks to continue the all-electric domination of Pikes Peak; since VW ran the ID.R to the current record, no ICE-powered vehicle has broken it. Details on the Super Mustang Mach-E are scarce right now, since all we have is an Instagram post from Ford introducing it. An all-new racing vehicle, it appears to carry over little from the SuperTruck or even the SuperVan 4.2. The entire aerodynamics package has changed, with larger diffuser tunnels exiting the rear. The rear wing has gone back to a more traditional race car design with endplates over the curved, body joining structure. Even the front spoiler has changed with thicker end plates and new features. But the biggest change of all is using the Mach-E body. While just as much of an interpretation as the Lightning SuperTruck was to the F-150, the Mach-E is much closer to looking like its road car version. Much like the NASCAR EV prototype, however, the Super Mach-E is more coupe like than four-door SUV of the street legal electric crossover. This has reduced the overall frontal area and looks to have possibly lowered the overall profile versus both SuperVan and SuperTruck. Ford has promised more details closer to the race, but 2025 is looking like a massive effort by the Blue Oval to give Dumas every chance to get that dopamine rush of taking the overall win and the record again.

Ford Sales Surge 16% In May 2025
Ford Motor Company reported a 16% sales increase to 220,959 in May year-over-year, with positive gains at both Ford and Lincoln. Hybrid vehicles led the way with a 28.9% sales increase, totaling 22,719 units, with internal combustion engine sales up 17.2% at 191,517 units. In the class category, Ford SUV sales saw the most significant gain at 25% to 94,595 units. Truck sales followed behind the SUV uptick at an 11.2% increase to 121,354 units. However, Ford Motor Company's electric vehicle (EV) sales plummeted 25% in May to 6,723 units. The car class saw a less dramatic decrease of 3.2% to 5,010 units, according to Ford Authority. Ford's new American Made campaign, centered around offering employee pricing, appears to primarily be fueling the company's overall sales gain as drivers strive to get ahead of tariff-imposed vehicle cost increases. Lincoln reported a 39% increase in May sales, and Ford Motor Company's total sales are up 6.1% to 930,925 vehicles compared to the first five months of 2024. The 2025 Escape was one of Ford's best-sellers in May, with sales catapulting 24% to 17,395 units. Ford's 2024 Explorer saw a 23% sales increase to 20,504 vehicles. Bronco Sport sales rose 46% to 14,472 units, and the Maverick saw a 14% gain to 15,508 deliveries. Financial analyst Dan Ives, managing director at Wedbush Securities, said "the monthly sales were better than feared and is a small step in the right direction," but added that there's "still a lot of wood to chop ahead for (CEO) Jim Farley and Ford with tariffs and demand issues," the Detroit Free Press reports. While Ford Motor Company extended its employee pricing marketing to July 6, which affects nearly all 2024 and 2025 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, the American automaker announced price hikes up to $2,000 last month on three of its Mexico-produced models: the Mach-E SUV, Maverick pickup, and Bronco Sport SUV. Cox Automotive expects May sales across all automakers to rise 3.2% from last year and 2.5% from last month, but that the month's sales pace will be significantly less than March and April, according to NBC. Besides weak May EV sales numbers, Ford has issued over 50 U.S. recalls in 2025, the most of any automaker. Through May 15, Volkswagen Group had issued the second-most recalls at 14. While EV sales were one of May's lowlights at Ford, the company's Mustang Mach-E experienced an 11% year-over-year sales surge to 4,724 units. Ford Motor Company stock finished at a 2.10% daily market increase and 5.6% year-over-year growth on Tuesday. With its third consecutive year-over-year double-digit sales increase and a 16% year-over-year sales increase for May, Ford has momentum that's crucial to the company mitigating trade war-related impacts, including $1.5 billion in added net costs for 2025. Ford Chair John Lawler said the automaker will adjust operations over the next 12 to 24 months in response to tariffs, but as of now, weak EV sales and regular recalls aren't significantly hurting the company's standing. The 'Love the Way You Lie' rapper's publishing company Eight Mile Style filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms—which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp—accusing the tech company of copyright infringement and seeking over $109 million in damages, according to court documents filed May 30 and obtained by E! News June 3. In the filing, Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) alleges that Meta violated the copyright of 243 songs from his catalog through the 'unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation' of the tracks on their platforms. The lawsuit cites the apps' features, including Original Audio and Reels, as tools that 'allow and encourage its users to steal' his music to use in video content 'without proper attribution or license.' As a result, the Grammy winner is seeking monetary damages for 'the diminished value of the copyrights by Defendants' theft of them, lost profits, and Defendants' profits attributable to the infringement.' Alternatively, he asked for the maximum statutory damages, requesting $150,000 for each of the songs in question across all three of Meta's platforms, totaling a whopping $109,350,000.
