Iraqi airstrike kills 6 ISIS militants in Kikuk
Shafaq News/ The Iraqi army killed six ISIS militants in an airstrike in Wadi al-Shay, a mountainous area in Kirkuk, the Joint Operations Command (JOC) announced on Friday.
The JOC revealed in a statement that the strike destroyed the site where the militants had taken shelter. The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency tracked the group continuously and provided targeting data to the Joint Operations Command.
A source clarified to Shafaq News that the airstrike hit a rugged area within the Daquq district of Saladin province, approximately 50 kilometers south of Kirkuk province.
Earlier this month, a security source reported to Shafaq News that Iraqi Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes bombarding Islamic State (ISIS) positions in the Baiji district of Saladin province.
Although Iraq declared victory over ISIS in 2017, remnants of the group continue to operate in remote regions, particularly in Saladin, Kirkuk, and Diyala provinces. Security forces frequently launch targeted operations to prevent the group from regrouping.

Baghdad – INA Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed on Saturday the need to find radical solutions, within the framework of the constitution and the law, regarding the financial obligations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid." The statement added that "the meeting reviewed the general situation at the national level, political and economic developments, and the progress of implementing government programs." It indicated that "during the meeting, the need to find radical solutions, within the framework of the constitution and the law, regarding the financial obligations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, was emphasized through steps stipulated in the constitution, the budget law, and the decision of the Federal Court, and the importance of approving the oil and gas law." The statement continued, "The meeting emphasized the importance of unifying national ranks to enhance security and social stability across the country, and preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections as a fundamental pillar of the democratic process, so that the results reflect the will and choice of the Iraqi people, contributing to supporting the process of construction, reconstruction, and development in a secure and stable Iraq."

Al-Hol exodus: +830 Iraqis return home in 11th 2025 convoy
Shafaq News/ On Saturday, 223 Iraqi families left Syria's Al-Hol camp in Al-Hasakah province returning to Iraq under heavy security provided by the US-led Global Coalition. The Head of the Departure Office at Al-Hol, Shukri Al-Hajji, told Shafaq News that this is the 11th repatriation operation since the beginning of 2025 and the 26th overall. The current convoy includes 832 individuals. The repatriation is coordinated between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Iraqi government. Iraqi families who expressed a desire to return are gradually being evacuated in organized groups. In a previous round last month, 241 families—comprising 865 individuals—were returned to Iraq in a similar operation. The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement Spokesperson Ali Abbas Jahangir told Shafaq News earlier that over 15,000 individuals have been transferred from Al-Hol to Iraq since repatriation efforts began, adding, 'More than 12,600 persons remain in the camp, awaiting relocation in future batches.' Iraq launched the repatriation program in 2021. Returnees are received at the Jadaa camp in Nineveh, where they undergo social and psychological rehabilitation. The effort, however, continues to face backlash from local communities—especially families of ISIS victims in Nineveh—who express concern over the reintegration of returnees into their hometowns.
