Patna: Union minister and LJP (RV) chief
Chirag Paswan
called on CM at his residence in Patna on Monday and endorsed
Nitish Kumar
by saying, "There is no vacancy for the CM's post in the state, as of now."
Chirag said a lot of issues were discussed regarding the state in the meeting.
"After the election results, a strong NDA govt will be formed in Bihar again under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
The CM is leading the alliance and I believe that he will lead the development model of PM Narendra Modi in Bihar," Chirag said.
LJP (RV) MP from Jamui and Chirag's brother-in-law, Arun Bharti, who was also present in the meeting with the CM, said Nitish blessed his party president for his bigger role in future.
After meeting Nitish and briefing him about the 'Buyer-seller international meet' he was to inaugurate in Patna, Chirag reiterated his desire to be active in
Bihar politics
. "I am a Bihari first. The reason for my coming into politics has also been Bihar and Biharis. I have lived in Delhi and worked in Mumbai. I have seen the difficult circumstances in which Biharis have to struggle. In the coming days, I have openly expressed my intention that I want to come to Bihar soon.
I met the CM this morning as well. I got his guidance and affection. This increases my belief that we will achieve the goal for which I have started to make 'Bihar first, Biharis first'.
That's my resolution," he said at the international meet.
Later in the day at Hajipur, his parliamentary constituency, Chirag strongly reacted to the controversial statement made by Madhya Pradesh BJP minister Vijay Shah regarding Colonel Sofia Qureshi. "If the minister was in my party, I would have expelled him from the party for life. We must bow to our soldiers. Since I am in NDA, I know PM Narendra Modi has the highest regards for the armed forces of the country."

Two major road projects approved to decongest Delhi-NCR region
To decongest Delhi and the national capital region, the construction of two mega highways has been approved in a meeting recently held between Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, costing around Rs 10,000 crore. A new 17-kilometer-long highway connecting Urban Extension Road II (UER 2) to the Delhi-Dehradun expressway near Tronica City has been approved. After completion, this project will reduce traffic load on inner roads, easing pressure on National Highway-48, National Highway-44, Ring Roads and the Barapullah elevated corridor. The estimated construction cost of the project is Rs 3,300 crore. According to officials, connecting UER 2 to the Delhi-Dehradun, which starts near Akshardham temple, will provide faster connectivity to traffic generated from Haryana and Rajasthan, which is destined to move towards Dehradun. "Currently bids that have been received for hiring a consultant are under evaluation and the work to prepare a detailed project report is likely to be awarded by mid-June this year," according to a government document. Another project for the construction of a 65 km long highway from Tronica City connecting to the under-construction FaridabadNoidaGhaziabad Expressway, or FNG Expressway, has been approved. As per the plan, this highway will connect five major roadsDelhi-Dehradun Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, DND-Faridabad Highway, and Yamuna Expresswayall together around NCR. "The highway will provide connectivity to NCR towns such as Loni, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad with North and Southwest Delhi. It will help in decongesting internal roads and city centres like the Sarai Kale Khan section and Kalindi Kunj, providing an alternative for intercity and freight traffic," the document said. A tender has been floated for hiring a consultant to prepare a DPR for this project, the estimated cost of construction is Rs 7,500 crore. "A total of 1.25 lakh crore work decongestion projects has been initiated by the centre in Delhi. The projects will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at its own cost with the support of PWD," CM Gupta had said after the high-level meeting. The NHAI is also utilizing a large amount of inert waste recovered through biomining of legacy waste accumulated at Delhi's landfill sites. To date, approximately 10 lakh metric tons of inert material have been utilized in the construction of the UER 2 project.

SC refuses urgent hearing on Tamil Nadu's plea against alleged freezing of education scheme funds by Centre over NEP row
ANI 09 Jun 2025, 14:44 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday refused to list the Tamil Nadu government's plea against non-disbursal of education scheme funds under the Centre's Samagra Siksha Scheme for an urgent hearing. A bench of Justices PK Mishra and Manmohan stated that there was no urgency on the matter. Tamil Nadu recently approached the apex court seeking directions for the release of the education funds. In its plea, the state alleged that the Union government had frozen the disbursal of the said funds due to the state governments' refusal to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). In its plea, the Tamil Nadu government has sought the Court to declare that the National Education Policy, 2020, and the PM SHRI Schools Scheme are not binding on the state unless a formal agreement is entered into with the Union Government. The Tamil Nadu government further argued that its entitlement to funds under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme has been unlawfully made conditional on the implementation of these central schemes, which it considers to be unconstitutional, arbitrary, and illegal. 'The glaring reason for such non-disbursement is that the Defendant has linked the release of Samagra Shiksha Scheme funds with the implementation of 'National Education Policy' and 'NEP exemplary PM SHRI Schools' Scheme, despite the fact that these policies/schemes are separate schemes. That the reason of such apparent linkage is the fact that the MoU pertaining to the PM SHRI Schools Scheme dictates for implementation of the NEP-2020 in the Plaintiff State (Tamil Nadu) in its entirety which is not agreeable to the Plaintiff State due to the vociferous opposition to the Clause 4.13 of the NEP-2020 which envisages three-language formula', the plea read. "Zero marks to Modi Government": Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], June 9 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday criticised the Narendra Modi-led government, saying it earned 'zero marks' even after completing 11 years in power, and accused the BJP of relying solely on media publicity for its image. While speaking to the mediapersons in Mysuru on the occasion of the Modi government's 11th anniversary, Siddaramaiah said, 'Modi has completed 11 years in power because of media publicity. Zero marks! (to Modi government)...' Siddaramaiah also recalled Prime Minister Modi's past stance as Gujarat Chief Minister and accused him of doing the opposite after becoming the Prime Minister. 'When he was Gujarat CM, he said that states should have 50% share in Central tax devolution, but what did he do when he became the PM?' Siddaramaiah asked, alleging that Karnataka faced unfair treatment from the Centre. He added, 'Injustice has been done to Karnataka. But when we ask the BJP, they say we are indulging in slandering.' Earlier in the day, as the Narendra Modi-led NDA government completed 11 years, BJP President and Union Minister JP Nadda on Monday said India has made significant progress in economic growth, social welfare, and global leadership under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. The new data from the IMF will bring us to the fourth position. We have been the fastest economy in the we talk about Operation Ganga, PM Modi proactively brought back the Indian citizens from Ukraine. Not only Indians but people from other countries also came out of Ukraine, showing their flags.' He said the Modi government showed strong and proactive leadership through major rescue and relief operations, including during COVID-19. He said India ran the world's largest and fastest vaccination drive, giving 220 crore free double-dose vaccines, and no other country responded to the pandemic like India did. Narendra Modi first took oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, and is currently serving his third consecutive term. Last year, he took oath as Prime Minister on June 9 after winning elections for the third term.
