Women's manager Sherwood leaves Swansea City
Jamie Sherwood has left his position as first-team manager of Swansea City Women.Sherwood, who was appointed in May 2024, leaves by mutual consent with the club fifth in the Adran Premier table with four games remaining.Swansea were Welsh league champions in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and runners-up to Cardiff City for the past two seasons.However, defeat to Wrexham in the final phase one game of the current campaign saw them miss out on a place in the Championship Conference.Assistant manager Yzzy Taylor will assume the role of caretaker head coach on an interim basis.Swansea's men's side also have an interim head coach, with Alan Sheehan in temporary charge of the Championship side following the departure last month of Luke Williams.
Sherwood previously managed Yeovil in the Women's Super League, leading them to promotion from the English second tier.He has also had spells working for the Football Association of Wales (FAW), Cardiff City Ladies and Cardiff City Women.His final game in charge was Sunday's 2-1 victory at Cardiff Met which ended a six-game winless streak.Swansea are seven points clear of Barry Town United at the top of the Plate Conference which also includes Aberystwyth Town.Interim boss Taylor also joined the Swans last summer, having spent 11 years as a player and coach with Cardiff Met where she won six league titles as well as three Welsh Cups and three Adran Trophy successes.The 31-year-old is also a part of the Wales Women Under-19s' coaching team, a role she will continue alongside her duties with Swansea.

Brook has enjoyed a perfect start as limited-overs captain, winning all six games against the West Indies to overhaul the fortunes of a group that lost their last eight matches in the hangdog final days of Jos Buttler's tenure. 'We want to get to a stage now where we're winning series in the first two or three games and we're nailing them in the others. We want to clean sweep people. We want to be the most dominant team in the world. 'I've said plenty of times the depth that we have in batting is just awesome. The top three, four, five can go hard and get us up to totals like we saw here. Then with the skills that the bowlers possess as well, it's worked beautifully. 'I feel like we're just such a team. I've never really felt that apart from in the Test side.' 'I personally think playing for England is the pinnacle of cricket and to play for your country is the best thing you can do.' Financially, they lack the muscle to compete with the riches on offer in some leagues, but that is not an issue England face so acutely. Salt has missed the West Indies series following the birth of his first child, but did make a whistle stop return to India for the IPL final, which he won with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His place went to Smith, who scored 60 off just 26 balls at the Utilita Bowl to threaten the pecking order. 'The talent that we've got in English cricket in white ball cricket is just phenomenal. For Salty to miss out on a series and Smudge to do what he's done this series is just mega,' Brook added. 'The batting depth we have is just awesome.'
