Vikrant Massey Prays For National Award Glory For 12th Fail: ‘I Hope I Win'
Last Updated:
After the anticipated success of 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey is diving into White, where he will take on the role of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Vikrant Massey has been on a roll, captivating audiences with his nuanced performances in critically acclaimed films like 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report. With a string of hits under his belt, he's solidified his position as one of Bollywood's most talented actors. Now, he's taking a bold step into mainstream commercial cinema, promising to redefine his on-screen presence. His upcoming film is Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, helmed by director Santosh Singh.
Now, in an interaction, Vikrant Massey expressed his aspirations for '12th Fail'. He said, 'I hope it does. And I'm sorry, without the cost of sounding pompous, and with utmost humility. I hope it does. I hope the film wins an award. I hope Vidhu Vinod Chopra wins an award. I hope I win an award. I've always aspired to have one. I've prayed for one."
The actor recalled, 'When I was that young kid wanting to become an actor, I always wanted a National Award because that's the greatest achievement an actor in India can have—to be presented an award by the president of the country. And I hope it happens. So, fingers crossed."
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan will be followed by White, where Vikrant Massey will embody the spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, with early preparations underway. 'There's one film that I'm also soft-prepping for. It's called White, where I play the honourable Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar," he shared.
Furthermore, Vikrant Massey shared his thoughts on playing Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He added, 'I'm very nervous. I've been spending a lot of time with him and with the script. We start shooting in August. Spending time with him is also quite unnerving because he's something else—he's God-sent for me. This film, this opportunity, everything feels like it's God-sent."
Later, the actor fondly recalled his experience of working with Shanaya Kapoor on Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, calling her a breath of fresh air. He elaborated, 'It was lovely working with Shanaya. She is a breath of fresh air. There's so much that I learned from her."
However, taking on this project wasn't without its challenges for Massey, who confessed, 'I was very nervous because I've never done something like this, which is an outright commercial Bollywood Hindi movie wherein I'm lip-syncing for the first time. I was very nervous."
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor, hits theatres on July 11.

Shanaya Kapoor, eldest daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, is finally making her much-anticipated Bollywood debut, but she says it didn't happen the way people might expect. In a recent interview with Hesha Chimah for Varinder Chawla, the 25-year-old actor — soon to be seen in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan opposite 38-year-old Vikrant Massey — revealed that her first role wasn't something she chased; it found her. Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan 'I think I said this earlier as well, when Vikrant and I were chatting. I think when it comes to a film, it's not just you choosing the film, I think somewhere the film chooses you as well,' said, reflecting on the casting process. 'It's both of ya'll meeting. It's like the stars are aligned and both our paths are aligned for us to have this journey together.' Shanaya also opened up about how deeply she connected with her character during filming. 'You find those little similarities, you get attached to your character, you kind of get a little protective, you learn a lot from your character, you befriend your character. In the film, Shanaya plays Saba Shergill, an aspiring actress who crosses paths with Jahaan Bakshi, a passionate musician, as the two set out on a journey to rediscover their artistic selves. She said further, 'It just made me realise how when things are meant to happen and when things are not supposed to happen, they don't. And in the time when that audition didn't go through and I didn't get that project, it's not a nice feeling but I took it with stride and tried to take it in a positive way… but it does bother you, of course, as an actor. Then finally when it worked out for this, it suddenly feels like 'oh my god' thank you.'
